The new modern Caesar was especially good -- with capers and prosciutto and shaved Parmesan in a light dressing. The steaks are literally a "cut" above anybody else in town -- and I have tried 'em all. The smallest Filet is still ample for smaller appetites -- and the double chops and larger steaks will satisfy a small nation. The host, waiter and busboys work in concert with each other. The new electronic wine list (and specials) offers great options by the bottle or glass. I opted for a glass of Zinfandel (Lodi, Predator). All of the food was excellent-- especially the knockout crab cake appetizer- except the filet mignon which we both found to not be as tasty or juicy as those at Cameron's around the corner. This was a real shame as we loved everything else right from the start when we were seated in a round booth so I could sit right next to my hearing impaired husband. The wine list is actually on an IPad which was very informative and such fun to use that we played with it for quite some time-- very innovative. Our service was very attentive, but the water glasses were too often empty, especially given the salty, though otherwise yummychimichurri. We were pleased to score a comfy booth.
We never felt rushed and the staff was pleasant and informative.
What was great: the food (aside from the chimmichurri salting), the atmosphere, the variety and descriptions on the menu, our waiter, James.
To improve: the dining room wasn't half full, but it was surprisingly loud for conversation (this is a common issue in restaurants and is getting worse everywhere--I can't be the only person who wants to have a conversation), keep filling water after dinner, reduce the salt, ditch the iPad menus.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFleming's Never DisappointsLoved it. The lobster bisque was remarkable with a nice spice kick. Steak perfect; lamb chops delectable. Ambience is that of a sophisticated steakhouse without being overbearing. Service attentive.
Of special note: they were aware that the evening was to celebrate my wife's birthday. We went last year as well. Last year they gave us a box of chocolate and a $25 dollar rewards card to come back and dine with them again. It was in our intention to go back again but until Monday night we didn't make it back. They had out an exp. date on it of 4-21-12, a year later they still let us use it. The customer service at Flemings is amazing. They are polite, educated in their menu; after all they have over 200 different wines on their list, and the management is respectful as well. The manager visited our table 3 times to make sure everything was alright and to present us with yet another box of chocolates and $25 reward card. It was happy hour, and Fleming's has some terrific "happy hour" bargains. Selected wines, mixed drinks, and small plates were $6 each.
