Fleming's Steakhouse - BaltimoreGreat foodOur experience at Flemings was great! We arrived before our reservation and they seated us right away. Service was very good and the food was outstanding. We finished off with cheesecake and they brought us an extra bowl of whipped cream. Amazing.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat celebrationSeveral things went into making this a great night. First our waitress was wonderful. Very friendly, knowledgeable, outgoing. We were there to celebrate our daughter's college graduation, which the wait staff picked up on. At the end of the meal, our waitress brought over a box of dessert samples and a personalized note for our daughter. Earlier in the evening, one of the managers offered to take a family photo, then delivered several copies of the picture before we finished our meal.

The steak was excellent.
The tomato salad was also very good. Good greens and good veg are important to us. The salad was very good. It's a new menu item.
The baked brie was not my favorite. The sauce was a bit sweet. It tasted a bit like a breakfast pastry, which is not what I was going for in an appetizer.

The atmosphere is laid back, the service is attentive without being intrusive and the wine list is very approachable. But as with any upscale steakhouse, the prices are harder to swallow than the food. Sure, some of the inflation pays for the experience, and at Fleming's many items are in fact reasonable - salads, some starters, and a few entrees that come with sides. But most entrees are a la carte, and the side dishes are where they get you. $10+ for a side of asparagus? Okay, if you're going to serve enough for the whole table. But it was 7 stalks. Seven. Yes, I counted them. We were there on a very busy night. Wine selection is outstanding. The Happy Hour deals are great to get your evening started.
