Diner Reviews
  • "Food was great and service awesome, Thanks, had a great time with family"

  • "We went during the last seating of the night. The restaurant was just calming down from a crazy Valentine's night. They do pack more tables in for this occasion so if you are claustrophobic, you may want to avoid going here on this day. I wish I could remember our waiter's name because he was absolutely top notch and made the evening even better! We each had an appetizer plate which was the perfect portion for us, barely leaving room for dessert. Everything was cooked properly and actually came out quickly given how busy the restaurant still was. It was on the pricey side but we were expecting that. It was a great place for a special occasion dinner and we'd definitely go back."

  • "Our steak was delicious as to be expected. However, there were several additional things that made the night very special. My dining companion has to eat gluten free, so when they brought the bread, we explained that. They came back with carrots and celery sticks so that we could eat that with the spreads that would have gone on the breads. (Most places just take the bread away, and that's that.) They brought out a small box of homemade truffles to say happy birthday. Fleming's is always top notch!"

  • "Everything about Fleming's in Austin was outstanding. Can't fault them for anything. But, as it had been a few years since I'd been to a Fleming's, I guess I didn't realize just how very expensive it is. If you want a special occasion, with great food and service, and are prepared to pay for it, this is the place. But it's not for an everyday meal. I had an entree (the mahi mahi special - outstanding!), a wedge salad, and two glasses of wine. With tax and tip, it was nearly $100 for one person."

  • "While at SXSW, we ate at Flemings downtown for dinner. The food was terrific!! I definitely recommend my meal (filet mignon Oscar style, blue cheese wedge salad, asparagus, and chocolate lava cake). I can't leave out the wine- it was excellent, the only problem is making a bottle choice with the huge selection."

  • "I took my mother-in-law for her birthday. The service was excellent and so was he good. Steaks are always superb! The seafood tower appetizer is absolutely amazing. My husband loves he molten lava cake. You can't go wrong with anything at Flemings!"

  • "Curtis, our server, was excellent. He was professional, attentive, and personable. He made our group of 20-25 so comfortable and welcomed. The food was also amazing, and thank you to the staff who accommodated our large party, despite my initial reservation for 15 guests."

  • "We will definitely be back to Fleming's Steakhouse located downtown, on our next visit to Austin. The food was amazing, perfectly cooked, and delicious. We had the lobster and steak special, my husband had the ribeye, we had mashed potatoes and fries which were large enough for us to share and not even able to finish them. We ordered the tenderloin carpaccio as our appetizer and it was so good. We wanted to try something new and we were very impressed. Our server was also great, we felt like we were very well taken care of."

  • "Austin has a number of outstanding restaurants and Flemings could be one of them, but this location is just ok - not great. The staff is pleasant and the atmosphere nice (typical Flemings) but the food was just fine, good, ok! Nothing to send back, but nothing memorable. Salads were fine, but not cold and crisp. The steaks and prime rib were again, fine, not sizzling hot, or flavorful, but they were cooked correctly. Our sides were garlic mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. They were tasty but again, not hot but warm enough so we would not send them back. Chocolate dessert was delicious! With a little effort, this location could be as good as others."

  • "I ordered the Filet- Medium. It came Very Well Done, with no taste. I also ordered a salad of Tomato Caprese. It's clear the tomatoes are out-of-season. The. Rest of my family had good meals. The service was fine, until I went out to Valet at 6:20PM for my car. There was only one Valet person for 2 restaurants. We waited 40 minutes on a very cold night for my car."

  • "We had a wonderful first visit. I loved the interactive wine list on an iPad that was left at the table when we were seated. The program allowed us to scan the various wines in a variety of ways to select the perfect wine for our meal. Our waiter, John, was very helpful and accommodating. And our steaks were delicious! It was a great experience and we would not hesitate to return."

  • "My boyfriend and I went here for a dinner for a special occasion and left having spent a lot of money on food that was nothing super special. We had a reservation and were seating next to the kitchen. The place was 80% empty so we wondered if it was a slight to be placed there. The steak was very expensive (40 for a filet) and came without side dishes. We were fine with this and the steak was good, but i've had cheaper, similar filets (Roaring Fork) The sides were mediocre (I make better mashed potatoes.) The ambiance of the place was not as romantic as I had hoped. There were TVs with sports playing at the bar. Choose what you want to be, Flemmings. You can't be a sports bar and serve 80 dollar bottles of wine, too. We won't be going back."

  • "Our waitress forgot our drinks, tables to tight & close together. The food was delicious & the festive balloons were fun for Valentine's!"

  • "Extensive wine list and great service. However, we were very disappointed and felt like sardines smashed into a can. It was very UN romantic for the V-Day celebration. I would have expected better from Flemings to do a better job with the setup and ambiance it created."

  • "The best filet mignon I've ever had in my life! Wow!"

  • "Food was amazing and our server, Curtis, was great. Not pushy, great recommendations, and was very attentive. Will definitely come back. TIP: Costco sells $100 gift cards for $80. Easy way to save some $$!"

  • "For the most part everyone's food was good - my steak was extremely undercooked and when I sent it back it was cut open and thrown on the grill - considering I paid 56.00 for this steak I expected a little better service. Other than that every thing was delicious. Service was good - very friendly."

  • "We booked a reservation for girls night. Our waiter was so kind and explained all the great plates. I'm quite particular about seafood and quickly gobbled the New Orleans Shrimp. The brie and filet mignon was amazing and dessert...well, it was close to a private evening with my husband. Need I say more? Providing 4 stars because the hostess forgot our table was ready. Not a big deal. Perhaps she was having a hard night."

  • "We love Flemings, particularly the one in Austin. The lighting and ambiance are perfect--not too bright and not too dim. We always go there for celebrations. When they found out we were celebrating a birthday, they brought chocolates and a $25 gift card to the table. The Flemings potatoes are incredible. We usually order steak, but this time I ordered one of the fish dishes and it was fabulous. I've never had a bad meal here!"

  • "I would never go there again on a weekend night. The noise level was beyond loud and even with a reservation, we had to wait for our table for almost an hour."
    Dined on 1/25/2014
  • "Steak houses are not really my thing. My family enjoyed this restaurant though, and my 8 year old declared the burger one of the best in Austin. He would know..he's had most of them."

  • "My parents were coming into town on a Sunday afternoon. The trip was spontaneous so we didn't have a ton of options. I used open table to make a lunch reservation at Flemmings. I received confirmation that my table was booked and everything was good to go. Turns out Flemmings isn't open for lunch. My parents and I discovered this after valeting the car in downtown Austin. The only place that would seat us was Uncle Julios... greasy chain Mexican food. Total bummer."

  • "Went to this place on New Years eve with my mates. The steak was absolutely delicious and the dessert was outstanding. The ambiances would be perfect for a romantic steak dinner, or a reunion with your old pals."

  • "The food for my group was great. The service was very slow and detracted from our celebration. Even with reservations, my party of 4 was placed in table seating near the bar that was constantly being overrun with the waiters and waitresses serve ring food as well as customer walking to their seats. I can't recall the number of times that I was nearly hit in the head by a server carrying a tray of food."

  • "We were given a wonderful booth with excellent service. Loved the food and wine selection. I am glad we selected this steak house for our NYE celebration."

  • "This restaurant is very attractive, the service was perfect (Josh was our waiter) and the food was outstanding. I have never had a steak that was so hot both on the exterior and on the interior with a perfect crust that was still rare on the inside. It was done to perfection. We will return when in Austin."

  • "Appreciate the attentiveness and suggestions made by the very friendly waiter and staff. The food was perfectly pared with our wine and the seafood tower was divine."

  • "Mixed review: We had reservations but they made our large party wait 30 extra minutes to be seated. We understand that delays happen sometimes. The real issue: The staff pointed out which table was set up for us but then at our exact reservation time, they gave it to another group...who had just walked in. Otherwise, the food was incredible as was the wine list. Overall, it's a good place to go to for special occasions. We recommend that you make your reservations for the earliest time slot possible so the place is less crowded & the staff may pay better attention."

  • "I have been to Flemings many times and it is always a nice experience. The only thing I didn't love this time was the crispy pork belly dish. However, the bone-in filet and creamed spinach are delightful! I will be back for those items!"

  • "The service was some of the best I've ever had in a restaurant. Everyone on the staff seemed to know it was our anniversary which really made it feel like a special occasion. We were greeted and sat as soon as we arrived. Our server, Kemp, is one of the best servers we've ever had anywhere. Sadly, the food fell way short of expectations. My dry-aged ribeye, and my wife's filet, were two of the worst steaks we've had in a while. The Mac n Cheese was fairly bland. The spicy shrimp I ordered as a side with my steak were tiny and overcooked... certainly not worth the $12 extra. While the service was probably the best in town, for the money that we spent (over $250 before tip), I will likely take my business to Truluck's or ALC."

  • "The appetizers were good, moist crab cakes and a really good wedge. The entrees were awful though. My filet mignon steak was a poor cut, very chewy and almost unedible. There so many great steak houses in Austin like J5, Eddie vs, Steiner ranch and Perry's now so I'll go elsewhere next time."

  • "First time in Austin Texas and we really wanted to enjoy some good steak. Read a whole bunch of reviews and it became clear where we should avoid and where we should go. It was a Saturday night but the place was fairly quite which we had been told that things were quiet in that neighborhood due to road works. The food was delicious, the steak was very appropriately sized. It had been my worry that we would be getting these enormous cuts of meat, but steak sizes were manageable and of course perfectly cooked. The sides were also fab, we had the green beans and the special potatoes. Service was attentive but not annoying. For our first visit to a steak house in Texas, we were well and truly pleased."

  • "The Tomahawk steak special was perfect both in flavor and cost. There was not any aspects that could have been done better. The blue cheese lettuce wedge was different and refreshing in that it was not the same old, same old presentation and flavor."
