A word from Flavor
We believe that reasonably priced "American Comfort Food" is a rapidly disappearing culinary cuisine in the Bay Area. We decided that we would not let that vanish.
Providing a fine balance of basic tasty foods and exquisite culinary delights where comfort and creativity collide, we proudly present El Granada with our latest venture- Flavor.
What is California Comfort Food? Simply put, it is an attempt to take some of the classic and not so classic comfort dishes and have our wonderful chefs add some sort of twist to them. We will always try to provide the freshest ingredients and attempt to use local and organic ingredients when possible.

  • "Now the food is only ok. The dish I had and a dish I tasted were overcooked. I sent the soup back as it tasted like the salt shaker had fallen into the bowl. The server was very professional, friendly and attentive, and did not have a problem taking the soup back. We used to love this place but since they moved they have had to raise the prices and it is not as good. I'm so disappointed! The wine selection is good but pricey. The wine the server recommended to me was excellent and the perfect temperature for a red wine."

  • "Flavor offers a memorable meal every time we go there. The food is outstanding, the service excellent, and the atmosphere great. Desserts are to die for. Wish they were open every day, rather than just 5 days a week. Prices are reasonable, too, a real pleasure for food that good. The restaurant is bright, comfortable, and has great views of the harbor. We are frequent diners there, and have never had a less than wonderful experience."

  • "Made a reservation through open table. Did tell the restaurant that I had a handicapped person with our party of four. Got there ten minutes before the reservation time and told them we were earlier and expected to be seated by our reservation time. Had to wait 10 minutes after the reservation time for our table which put stress on my handicapped husband. Service was hit and miss. Got our appetizer of zucchini chips to share with no individual plates for us to put them on. Food is good but a lot of it is deep fried and VERY greasy. I had the Devil's Slide Burger and it was excellent. Zucchini chips and Fries were greasy as was the deep fried chicken. If you like thinks deep fried this is the place to go."

  • "Wonderful service. The meals (there were 5 of us) were all great and way large portions. If I go again No, I mean when I go again I hope I have someone with me willing to share a plate. But, I will not EVER try dessert again! I felt like I was being punished for ordering dessert when I didn't finish my dinner. We ordered the Bourbon Tart. It was awful, the shell was ok a little tough, and the Ice cream and whipped cream on the side were ok, however the Bourbon filling was so bitter and pasty it was not edible. On a good note the waitress did remove the cost of the tart from the bill. As a side comment: It was also very warm inside and very loud, so not a good place for a romantic dinner or intimate conversation place."

  • "This is the first time I have eaten here since they moved across the street, location is really lovely. The service seemed very inexperienced, though friendly. The brisket hamburger and garlic fries were really good, though both were served lukewarm. There was a little ramekin of mac n cheese on this plate that was piping hot and really creamy and wonderful. Spouse ordered the skirt steak, also served lukewarm. But the grilled zucchini was hot and grilled to perfection, really flavorful and fresh. We will try dinner here again because the old location was so amazing"

  • "We've been dining at Flavor when they first opened at their old location across Hwy 1 from where they are now. The food is fantastic and the views are spectacular. I would recommend making reservations and requesting a window seat with a harbor view."

  • "I was surprised that this restaurant got such good reviews on Yelp. My husband and I were not impressed with the food at all. We ordered the shrimp fritters, which was their special. The fritters were super salty; we could barely finish it. Many Yelp reviewers recommended the "All-In" chowder, so my husband ordered it. It came in a bowl that could feed probably about three people, which may be appealing for some people, but not for us. The chowder was mainly dairy, so it was very filling, and it did not have the fresh seafood taste that chowder should have. I ordered the salmon special. The salmon was overcooked and again, unimpressive. I'm sorry to say, but there are far better places to eat in Half Moon Bay than Flavor."

  • "The service was very good. The portions are huge, food was not very good. We had the seafood pot pie and the brisket burger. The pot pie was huge. It tasted like it was made with Campbell's mushroom soup, nutmeg, maybe a hint of saffron and a lot of butter in it and previously frozen veggies added. The crust tasted like it was made from a Pillsbury dough croissant tube, you know the taste. The worst indigestion I had experienced in a long time. The burger was over cooked and came with a load of (tasted like) reheated skinny fries with minced garlic thrown on top, although, the small side of mac and cheese tasted good. We split a ceaser salad (for a split, each portion was huge) although they both had too much sauce."

  • "I've always been a fan of Flavors ever since it first opened. This was the first time I've been to their new location, formerly Crab Landing. I knew the view would be phenomenal, but was apprehensive about whether I would like the less cozy setting in their former location across Hwy 1. The menu has changed slightly, with more sophisticated taste vs just the comfort food that I loved. I had the lamb chop special which was phenomenal. My friends had the seafood pot pie, and lemon chicken with potatoes. The kids had customized the mac and cheese with bacon and broccoli, and everyone had a great time after an afternoon of kayaking."

  • "You'd think a Princeton Harbor locale would dictate a seafood menu. Flavor offers that, but promotes comfort food. Wish I had tried the macaroni and cheese, oh well another time. My friend devoured the pork chop and my skirt steak was divine. We started with the shrimp fritters. Very good. I was so pleased they were able to honor my request for a window seat from my ocean-less dear friend from Arizona. A very lovely dinner indeed."

  • "Living close to Flavor is a wonderful thing. We dine there frequently and always get great service and the food is awesome as well as the view. This most recent visit we had the worse service we have ever had there. The waiter did not tell us the specials although we heard him tell the table next to ours what the specials were later. Also my husband wanted to order beer but was told that they only serve that at the bar downstairs. Not sure if it is policy for the restaurant to not be able to serve beer that is at the bar downstairs to diners on the upper floor. All of the food is coming from downstairs so why not just also bring the beer up as well. Every other time here has been stellar though!"

  • "This restaurant is a favorite of a lot of people. Our first time there as we have our favorites in the area. A very big disappointment. I view this as a quantity not quality type of restaurant. The food is very basic and a lot of it , but really not very good. Salad lacked taste but was huge, Pork Chop was huge, but not tasty and not at all tender. To each his own, but as for us, we pass! I like to give restaurants more than one try just to be fair, but we will not be returning."

  • "Three of us went there for lunch and had a nice time. The views from the upper level (only level open for lunch) are nice harbor views. We had various burgers and BBQ pork sandwiches with fries and all were freshly made and hot and tasty. Our server was a little off, friendly, just not there when we needed her every time, and we saw her eating her food once while we waiting for her, but she was OK. I will be back for dinner."

  • "The restaurant ambiance is very nice, the location great, the food always fresh and tasty. The crabcakes are excellent. But it is always the people who work at the restaurant that we go back for: it is like going to a friend's place for dinner. You can tell they are happy to work there, they will leave you alone if you want a quiet meal with good service, or they will interact with you in a friendly way. Either way, the service is excellent."

  • "We live in HMB and enjoy having regular spots; we've been to Flavor 4 or 5 times in the past 3 weeks hoping it would become one. We went with guests last week and, after all the hype, they too left their plates half uneaten. The service has been consistently bad, 2 nights ago it reached an all time low. Mix that with food, which was inedible (literally, the plate was returned once to be recooked, when it came back I was unable to eat even one bite) we have to cross it off our list. It's unfortunate as the location is pleasant, the views are fun and the potential is there. We've gone to Flavor frequently enough to realize that it's not the place for us. Though it seems so close, it misses the mark by a full plate of cold table bread!"

  • "Lovely restaurant, nice view of the harbor, great service, delicious brunch. We enjoyed two types of eggs Benedict, one with excellent crab cakes and the other veggie (with mushroom and English pea patties instead of English muffin), plus really good fried zucchini chips. I felt it was a little bit pricy for brunch, but enjoyed the setting and the food very much. Will go back again."

  • "Flavor was our favorite restaurant when it was located across the street from its current location. Since the move, service isn't as great and everything is a few dollars more. We still frequent this restaurant often because the food is awesome. There are a few servers who we really love and the new view is amazing. I miss the old location...it was much smaller and more intimate. The new place has both an upstairs and downstairs with different menus. I haven't had food downstairs but the appetizers sounded great. The best thing about this place is the sauce. Whichever sauce your meal comes with will be amazing. Trust me."

  • "If you are looking for typical food with a great view, look no further. Not a lot of organic, local choices on the menu. The fish is supposed to be local and wild, which it probably is, but the chicken was clearly your basic hormone fed frankenchicken and the prawns were farmed. The salad special appeared to use heirloom tomatoes which was nice."

The view of the harbor was an added treat, our waiter was terrific & the food was phenomenal. My friends loved it & will definitely go back with their significant others as will I.   • "Great cocktails, high-quality, deceptively simple and not snobby food, great view, very pleasant and friendly service. Unfortunately, they do not have the timing down well and entrees came out before we were finished with appetizers and they didn't even acknowledge that this was a problem; they just tried to move dishes around on the table so they could put down our main courses. Places with good locations typically rest on that alone, but Flavor does not settle for that--thank goodness!"

  • "One of our entrees was wrong then arrived much later then expected before I could eat with my family. My son's favorite dish he had ordered when he was once there with friends looked disappointing. The half chicken appeared dry. Mash potatoes on both our plates were TOO MUCH garlic; and I love garlic. I like the interior but not certain I will return with unless my kid wants to come back. Both my husband and I would rate it not too good."
