That was the best steak since Burns Steak House in Tampa Fl. Flagstaff is much better then Ruth Chris or The Palms or any other steak house in the Denver metro area. If your an outback fan then Flagstaff is not for you. This is real aged beef that tastes amazing and not like cardboard like outback. You do get what you pay for here. It is not an inexpensive meal by any standards. Great place for special occasions. I took my wife here for her birthday dinner and I had mentioned that it was her birthday during the reservation. We were continuously served chef's complimentary dishes, a small cake with happy birthday candle on it and a complimentary blueberry bread for breakfast. The service here is in a different realm to any other restaurant I've been to in Boulder. The food is great. There are countless little touches, like the valet parking, and the tiny appetizers they serve between courses, and the way in which multiple servers converge on your table at once to minimize the time spent clearing the table and preparing it for the next course. Fantastic views of Boulder as well. It certainly isn't cheap, but if you're looking for a truly memorable dining experience for a special occasion (or you just have an unlimited budget), then look no further.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMStill the best!Restaurants in Boulder come and go but the Flagstaff House is still the best in every respect. Our latest dinner was no exception especially since it's soft shell crab season and Mark Monette's version is absolutely stellar. The entre menu remains the same, there is some seasonal soup variety. This trip, my wife's halibut was slightly over cooked, while my filet was very nicely prepared. For us, we noticed a decline in food quality over a year ago and because of the stale menu offerings, we will be trying other dining options in the future. Our table for two was set by a window under the skylight patio where I requested in the reservation and the flowers I ordered for my wife were waiting on the table with a special card. Our menus were printed with our names and date in honor of our anniversary. The service was perfectly timely, respectful of privacy and amazing. The bottle of wine selected for our meal by the Sommelier who assisted us was just right. The food was fabulous in flavor and artistic. A mild thunderstorm rolled in during dinner and provided some distant thunder and a light show with cool rain that made the view and from the patio and ambience of the special night unforgetable.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMWONDERFULI took my two college age sons to dinner. I can't think of enough words to describe how wonderful the experience was. We had the corner table overlooking Boulder and up into a park. You couldn't ask for a more beautiful view at sunset (including the wild bear running around on the hillside). From the moment we arrived we were taking care of quiety, efficiently, and thoroughly. Each dish was an amazing blend of flavors, perfectly prepared. The small dishes that were brought in-between courses were a surprise and only added to the delight. Even my son who is a picky eater enjoyed the food! Sauces were light but full of flavor. I needed a gluten free meal & that was no problem. It was a wonderful experience. They acknowledged the graduation and brought out a beautiful sugar sculpture to our table to celebrate. The waiter was thoughtful and gracious when we declined any alcohol, and suggested sparkling water. The food was fantastic as was the service. The view was spectacular and we will celebrate other big events there in the future. Each time in the last 33 years that I have been to the Flagstaff house (starting with my senior prom in 1980!) it has been a fantastic experience.
