  • "A Colorado & Boulder Must! Impeccable Service with a fine eye on detail. We enjoyed quality food, fine wine and spectacular sunset views. We sat at the floor to ceiling glass but would consider outdoor dining for a future visit (looked very inviting and a new offering with the recent remodeling). Wonderful way to celebrate our anniversary! Cheers to The Flagstaff House."

  • "The last night of our first trip to the Denver area was climaxed by this unforgettable dining experience at the Flagstff House. It was much more than we expected from the picturesque setting to the attentive service to the magnificent meal presentation and taste. We will not soon forget our wonderful evening there."

  • "This is my go to restaurant for special celebrations--anniversaries, significant birthday. Usually I find the experience extraordinary, and the price worth the little extra touches they continuously provide. Unbelievable wine offerings. The food was delicious, especially love the morel mushrooms, asparagus, crispy soft duck egg appetizer, and the short ribs were so rich and delicious. My favorite dessert hands down is the Chocolate Bag--dark chocolate, almond cake, white mousse. We usually find the service to be excellent, it was a little off the night we went, a bit surprising."

  • "I've lived in Denver-Metro for 35 years, but had never been to the Flagstaff House. I chose my 10 year Wedding Anniversary (June 28th) as my first visit, and was a little disappointed. For ambience, atmosphere, & food choices, there is no equal - it was a beautiful night & the meal was incredible. (the Duck Confit was unbelievable!). Unfortunately, the Service (i.e. the Server) a very subpar for a restaurant like the Flagstaff House. Our waiter (Nic D.) was horrible. He was very inattentive, and rushed us through our meal. It seemed like all he wanted to do was 'turn' the table for more tips and didn't seem very concerned about our dining experience. For all that $$$, I expected better - Don't think I'll ever go back."

  • "There are 3 parts to the restaurant, outside patio, inside dining in a room open to the outdoors and the inside dining room. I would not recommend sitting in the room open to the outside on a warm night. Request the inside dining room that is air conditioned. Food and service is very good."

  • "We had a very nice meal for our anniversary. The food was great with a lot of attention and surprises from the restaurant. The only disappointment was we did not get to sit next to the window or outdoors to enjoy the incredible view."

  • "Three couples in the same family all share the same day for the anniversary of their wedding. Flagstaff House is the perfect venue for a special event. The last time we went was for a mother's 90th birthday. Staff were particularly attentive to food allergies without calling attention to the situation. Adaptations were made and served without great fanfare. Halibut and lobster was memorable with tasty vegetables and pesto on the side. Everyone at the table was pleased with their selections."

  • "The view afforded from this restaurant can be, at its peak, spectacular. The restaurant is a bit dated, and was quite damp the day we visited, leading to some musty (and other odors). Foodwise, it has almost what one would expect from a "fancy" restaurant. This, unfortunately, leads to a somewhat predictable menu, and nothing we tried was outstanding. It was all very well cooked and presented, but not worth the price."

  • "A friend recently lost her spouse and two of us took her out for dinner at my favorite restaurant. Neither had been to Flagstaff. Both remarked it was the nicest experience they could remember. No complaints."

  • "There are few restaurants in the world where the staff are so attentive and responsive to your every need. Everyone went above and beyond to ensure the most pleasant customer experience. The food is fantastic, the view is amazing, the wine list is comprehensive. Everything was perfect."

  • "Everything that I used to like about the Flagstaff House is still there but it also has a new vibe. Service is it's usual impecable quality but visually it seems more open and inviting. The food preparation was perfect and visually stunning. I need to put this back on a more regular rotation."

  • "Superlative in every aspect of Dining. Impossible to beat the view high in the mountains overlooking the city of Boulder Colorado. Three of us had halibut and one chicken and all agree our meals were high quality, delicious, and perfectly prepared. Our friends, while not a normal habit of theirs, took pictures of the presentations to send to their foodie friends. From the main course, to the bread selections, pallet cleanser, pastry chef free morsels that kept on coming, to the selection of 9 sweeteners for the coffee (I'm talking different colored sugars and candies), everything served was elegant and unique. The service was beyond reproach--I never experienced what seemed to be an unusual number of staff attending our needs. Great!"

  • "Tons of staff. Great service. Wonderful breads! Everything made there. Incredible cocktails! Lots of little special moments and the food was done perfectly. And the view...insane!!!"

  • "We were greeted at the door with a smile. Since they weren't open just yet for dinner, we were asked if we'd like to sit outside and have a cocktail. We decided on a bottle of wine. At the last minute we decided that the bottle we wanted was not appropriate as it was only a half bottle, and changed our order. No issue. More smiles. We were seated quickly after that and the meal was fantastic as was the view. Deer frolicked as we ate. As it was our Anniversary, we were treated to a few extra's from the chef that were completely unexpected. I thought we would only be getting a first and second course meal with desert, but instead there were quite a few extras. We were STUFFED by the time we left. Spent $400 on dinner."

  • "For the cost of the food.. I was very disappointed. Some of the food was so over spiced that I could not even eat it. The service was a little slow and serving errands did occur. Since I had gone in June of 2013 for a Birthday dinner I had something to compare it to. I was very excited expecting a great dinner. Unfortunately, this was not the case."

  • "Top notch service, delicious and unique foods, huge wine list. Lots of chef's special treats in between courses. Pricey but worth it!"

  • "Aside from the food being very tasty, there was so much of it! Several unexpected appetizers and between course bites. The view, of course, can't be beat. Once or twice we had trouble getting the attention of our waiter. Touch-screen drinks menu was annoying."

  • "Online res was nice and easy but they missed that I was celebrating my 25th wedding anniversary. Food we ordered was good but the pastry chef's offerings at the end of the evening were dry and boring. Dinner didn't come with salad. Service not up to par this visit. Water glass ran dry, had to wait to get a drink fixed that was made wrong. Had to wait for bread. Wait staff proper and fancy but not very attentive when they thought they were not needed. Too many plates that don't get used and then they're changed too often. Dishwasher must wonder why they're always washing clean dishes. Wasteful."

  • "While looking for a special restaurant for a marriage proposal, I found Flagstaff House in the hills above Boulder, CO. It did not disappoint as the entire evening was filled with wonderful service, amazing food and spectacular views. Each course was exceptional from the Maple Bacon starter to the Creme Brulee for dessert. We could not have asked for a better night to celebrate as we became engaged to be married!! Thanks for the great service, even moved us to a wonderful window table as soon as it became available. While it is a pricey restaurant, you definitely get what you pay for with the fantastic treatment from the moment you drive into the parking lot."

  • "This restaurant is an excellent choice for adult dining. The service was impeccable and the food outstanding. However,, its location partway up Flagstaff Mountain gives it the ambience and views that make it a great choice for special occasions and celebrations. The views of both the mountains and the city of Boulder were amazing. Moderately expensive, and, of course, valet parking is offered."

  • "The food was amazing, the view was beautiful, the extra treats they brought in between courses were delightful. For such an expensive restaurant, I was worried about it being too pretentious for my partner's birthday. But everyone who worked here was friendly, and they treated our dining experience as a special event (even though it seemed that half or more diners there were celebrating a special event). Frankly, this was the most expensive dinner we've ever had, but we will appreciate the memory of it."

  • "Perched halfway up a mountainside, you immediately notice the elegant dining rooms and the spectacular views of mountains and sky, followed by sunset and the twinkling lights or the town below. The atmosphere is the perfect complement to the intriguing appetizers--ranging on the night of our visit from Berkshire maple bacon to tuna tartare with sashimi. Our outstanding entrees included Alaskan halibut and Colorado rack of lamb cooked to perfection. The valet, hostess, waitress and entire staff were energetic and helpful while avoiding the oppressive feel of other top tier restaurants. We were able to select wines by the glass from the well-chosen list to match every palate and menu selection. To quote our waitress, a "perfect"evening."

  • "What a tremendous experience I was able to provide my 85 year old aunt for her birthday and my Dad for Fathers Day on Sunday. In our party I was the only 'veteran" to the restaurant and the "newbies" were blown away with the food, service and location. The extra touches they did in making this a special event was outstanding."

  • "Forget the reviews of "other place"...... THIS is The Place to dine on the front range. It is simply wonderful in every way: the food, the world class wine list, the views, the impeccable service, the ambiance and so on and so forth.... We had a truly memorable dinner and although we did get lucky with the weather (for June) and the views from the terrace were totally splendid, if there was one thing that really stood out for this particular visit it would be the service..... Polite and unobtrusive, friendly and yet not overbearing.... this time is absolutely top-notch in every way. While the price(s) are what they are (which means not too many visits in a year, sadly)..... the experience is very well worth it. Excellent! Thank you!!!"

  • "3rd time here and by far the worst. We knew it would be overpriced, but went for the outdoor patio and our food has been generally good in the past. Our server was clearly new, and very clearly had not been well trained. Nice, but kept pushing us to order when we had clearly said we'd like to start with cocktails and wait a few minutes. Served our drinks to the wrong person, but didn't correct that after telling him (we had to), again nice - just not ready for prime time. And the food was mediocre at best this past time. We might go back for cocktails on the patio, but just can't imagine for the price we'll order food again."

  • "This was our first time to the Flagstaff House Restaurant and we will definitely be back! We are from out of town and found Flagstaff on Opentable and decided to give it a try. I am so glad we did! The setting is beautiful, the staff if so friendly and top-notch, and the food was incredible! We have been to many restaurants where the chef will send out a complimentary something during the meal, be we had one surprise after another! This is by far our favorite restaurant that we have tried in Boulder. What a wonderful dining experience. Thank you, Flagstaff House!"

  • "Flagstaff House is what I have in mind when I want a special occasion meal of fine wine and food. They are a Wine Spectator Grand Award winner so the wine choices are dizzying and amazing at all price levels. The food is simply fantastic and the service is top notch. Finally, the atmosphere is pleasant and the mountainside views are just incredible. I cannot imagine a better experience. Yes, it IS expensive. If you can afford it, enjoy! I had the quail as an appetizer and it was amazing. For my main course, I had the pork tenderloin stuffed with goat cheese with a garlic flavored sauce. Divine! I selected a nice bottle of a Spanish Tempranillo that worked well with all of our meals."

  • "Fantastic food, romantic and quiet atmosphere, exceptional views of the mountains, and wonderful service! However, the wine-by-the-glass selection was not so good (and too expensive). Emphasizing blends as opposed to individual types (e.g., "merlot") created a dilemma for us, and we went through several taste tests before we found one that was "OK." Next time, we will skip the wine."

  • "This is a very elegant restaurant that is great for special occasions. For most of us--we couldn't afford it on a regular basis. Very well done."

  • "It was very good and great for a special occasion but VERY expensive. The view is amazing, but was it worth the $$$$ Hmmmm, maybe?"
    Dined on 2/7/2014
  • "The first course items were outstanding, and the main dishes quite good. My complaint with service was a little too fussy--constantly taking plates away which had not even been used, seems like an awful waste of water washing all those dishes; and the servers were in too much of a rush asking if I was done, trying to take my plate away too soon."
    Dined on 6/6/2014
  • "There are lots of exceptional restaurants on Boulder but including the service, the ambiance, and the view, this one is just a little better than all the rest. I was impressed with the menu variety and creativity. Not a cheap experience, but when is a superlative dining experience cheap?"
