  • "Great and courteous service ,all staff were quite friendly and prompt. We thought the food,s variety was a bit limited but it was quite delicious and well prepared. It would be wonderful if a live music was present at least on some nights?we will recommend this place to our friends and will be visiting back soon."

  • "Everything is perfect ! The view on the Coal Harbour is breathtaking. The service is first-class. The food is all finesse and top-quality. The filet was amazing. The halibut was delicious. Cheese plate and soufflé were treats. Birhtday attention was so delicate. Cassini and Thornehaven wines were delectables. Don't miss that wonderful experience, the best we had so far among all our trips. Danielle et Jean, Québec"

  • "The best panoramic view of Vancouver which the food surpasses ! I have never wanted to go back to a restaurant to just have their green salad but this one is the most amazing compilation of tender greens I have ever eaten. Every mouthful was a burst of new flavours. The main course was as intoxicating to the eye as it was the palette. Polite and accommodating staff. This was a superb intro to Vancouver cuisine."

  • "The view was spectacular and the food was superb. Highlights were the spinach-mushroom ricotta ravioli, the best ever, and the green salad with berries and fruit crisps, every so fresh with sprouted greens. Enjoyed the sauteed sole and the lobster-halibut-scallop entrees very much too. Sauces are lovely."

  • "What a great dining experience. The food was outstanding. My husband had the beef and I had lamb. They were perfectly cooked and delicious. The grand marnier souffle was scrumptious. With the glorious view on a beautiful suuny day in Vancouver it would be hard to top this dining experience!"

  • "We had the 5 course tasting menu and the foods were well presented and delicious! Service was very attentive until a big group sat beside us which made the service to us slow, good thing we were already at our 4th course. But despite that, we appreciate their effort in seating us near the window to get a beautiful view of the sunset and the water. Also the greeting for our anniversary of mini chocolate cake and candle was a pleasant surprise. It's a bit pricey, the 5 course tasting menu was $90+ each without wine, $140+ with wine pairing so definitely we will come back again for special occasion."

  • "I am always skeptical when it comes to these higher end restaurants but took the plunge and decided to celebrate my anniversary there. Apprised the establishment it was my anniversary via OpenTable, and they greeted us accordingly and sat us at a window seat with a killer view overlooking the marina. The food was epic from start to finish and the owner would personally check in with us periodically. What I thought was really classy is the special dessert they threw in for our anniversary compliments of the house. Although not particularly expensive it was thoughtful and showed heart. Definitely recommend for special occasions or meeting with clients."

  • "We made reservations prior to our arrival in Vancouver. We chose the Five Sails for it's location as we were staying in the Pan Pacific Hotel, and because of the good reviews we read on Trip Advisor. We went with high expectations, and we were not disappointed. The view from the dinning room is wonderful, the service was very good and the food was delicious. Two of our party had the Sablefish and the third had the Dover Sole. We all loved our meals, including a nice bottle of B.C. wine."

  • "Went to Five Sails as an Anniversary dinner with my boyfriend. When I received a call to confirm the reservation, the lady also asked if it was for a special occasion and made sure we were greeted and congratulated. The food was excellent and the service was friendly and not overly imposing. Being young sometimes it feels like you're not good enough to eat here yet but definitely didn't get that feeling here. As well, they even gave us a little cake with a candle and sign that said Happy Anniversary so that was definitely a nice touch. Would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for smth special and the view is great."

  • "Even though I live in Coal Harbour, I was completely unaware of Five Sails. Being in the Pan Pacific, it has no walk-by presence. The way I found it was by Googling 'Best Vancouver Restaurants' and it was rated quite highly, I think #1. When I asked a few long time Vancouver residents about it, their response was, 'I was there a few years ago. It was fine'. So I had a bit of trepidation when I booked it for my girlfriends birthday dinner. Guys, what an awesome surprise. The view is absolutely spectacular. It was a great, clear evening and we had a perfect table overlooking the harbour. Service was great. The restaurant was about 1/3 full, and really quiet. And the food was SPECTACULAR. Really, really, good. No superb."

  • "The hostess greeting us was very friendly and inviting as we entered the dining room. The service was the impeccable as always. The view of Coal Harbour, Stanley Park and North Shore is breath taking especially on a sunny summer evening. The food is its usual high standards. We had the Miso Soy Sablefish and the Catch made up of Atlantic Lobster, Scallops and Halibut which was done is a coconut broth. Both dishes were delightful with the sauces that complimented each dish very well. The amuse-bouche of tuna and tomato soup was a wonderful start the meal. Their souffle was fabulous as always. Nice touch with the small chocolate square to celebrate our anniversary."

  • "Salmon was prepared sous vide method and overcooked, and the albumin was very visible. The finishing was sauce rather than broiled or seared. We have loved this restaurant in the past, but unfortunately will not return."

  • "My wife and I visited Vancouver and wanted a good view and a good meal. We found 5 Sails in the Canada Center which met both of the requirements. The restaurant is in the Pan Pacific Hotel on the second level. We have a window seat with an amazing view up to Stanley Park and North Vancouver. The meal was prepared with care and attention to detail. Although on the pricey side (a convention hotel) the flavor and presentation was top notch. Recommended for a quiet meal with great views, good food and an interesting selection of BC wines."

  • "I celebrated my birthday with my dad at Five Sails. On the reservation form, I mentioned that I wanted a window-side table because of this occasion. I got a call a day before the dinner to remind me of my reservation. Then when I got there, I was greeted and a small piece of cake was prepared for me at the end of the dinner. It was a surprise! Overall, the service there was perfect. The food there was excellent. I would highly recommend it to my friends, colleagues, and family members. Oh, and I got a window-side table. Very nice view!"

Stuck with seafood and was not disappointed,as I enjoyed Lobster Bisque,Lobster,Scallop and catch of the day and finished with a sublime Grand Marnier soufflé ! We enjoyed an elegant atmosphere, outstanding view of our beautiful city and delicious food. The well-tuned staff made all of us feel very special. We could not have found a better environment, or tastier cuisine for this special occasion. We can't wait to go back!"

  • "Very good food and wine with very attentive service - perhaps too attentive when it comes to poring wine... However, the waitress overheard that one of our group had their birthday on that day and arranged for a little cake with a birthday candle. The music was really boring and made you feel rather sleepy, but the views made up for everything with the sunset in the West. Very enjoyable and perfect for a business dinner as well as a romantic evening."

  • "The server ridiculed me when I ordered Jasmine Tea after the dinner. He said the restaurant only serves "normal tea." Well, pray tell, what is "normal tea" to his standards? Jasmine tea is one of the most common teas I know of. This restaurant also has a ridiculous policy: on a busy night, guests are not seated until everyone in the party has arrived. I wonder why guests are being punished for being prompt. A business runs on consideration for the customers, not only ludicrous policies. There were times when my friends, not being local Vancourites, had trouble finding their way and were late for 30 minutes. I cannot imagine sitting outside in the waiting area for 30 minutes. Hawksworth and even Le Crocodile win 5 Sails hands down."

  • "What a magnificent setting! And while a restaurant such as this might be tempted to get lazy with the food, at Five Sails the cuisine shines just as much as the view."
