Diner Reviews
  • "Not our first time here and will not be our last. Grass feed beef tenderloin was cooked a perfect medium rare with a flavorful char. Always a must stop whenever we are in Ogunquit."

  • "We were a couple dining over July 4th weekend so it was a bit busy and a Saturday night. The food, particularly the lobster, was all truly 5-star and expertly prepared. The service was perfect - attentive without hovering. Timing of courses was perfect as well. Not native to the area, we weren't sure what to expect with a reservation made late in the day for the same night. The experience from beginning to end could not have been better."

  • "We've been eating at Five-O for 10 years and have yet to have a meal haven't raved about. Our last visit was excellent."

  • "Hello from Montreal, Quebec! It's my 2nd summer vacation in Ogunquit and 4th time @ Five-O. By the way, Lisa the waitress was awesome! Cocktail time was fun. I ordered a Pomegranate Martini, which was tart, sweet & awesome! Hostess Tory was funny and friendly. The Maine clam chowder was an excellent opener, followed by a generous, delightful lobster linguini. In fact, it was to die for! I'm not big on linguini but this was outstanding! My dessert Blueberry tart with blueberry gelato (from Caffé Prego) was awesome. The atmosphere was very friendly, professional and entertaining. Ambiance was perfect. I will definitely return again, because Five-O is a top priority whilst visiting Ogunquit!"

  • "I loved the energy of this place. Menu was very interesting and varied. Kids enjoyed a few small plates which were perfect. The poached lobster entrée was cooked to perfection and had wonderful flavor. The vegetarian risotto was really a spectacular plate. I would recommend this restaurant to foodies and families alike. The waitstaff was pleasant and helpful. The service was prompt but we did not feel rushed. Location on Shore Road can't be beat. The atmosphere was energetic yet comfortable."

  • "This place is truly special. Two reasons. The food is fantastic and the service from staff is amazing. They make you feel at home. We celebrated a very special anniversary and they treated us with the utmost respect. We can't say enough about it. Try it...you'll like it!"

  • "We were here several years ago, and we loved it then- this time the food was mediocre, prices high, and the noise level was high but no music or ambiance. We felt like they were trying to be a trendy, hip restaurant but fell short. We were so disappointed as we loved our experience there in the past."

  • "Years ago we stumbled upon Five-0 and had an excellent dinner. Having been away from Ogunquit for a while, we finally returned for a weekend and decided to go back to Five-0. I wondered whether it would be as good as we remembered since we are now older, wiser, and have eaten at some of the finest restaurants in New York, California, London and Paris. Five-0 did not disappoint."

  • "Good place right on the main stretch of shore road. Food was really good but not great, solid menu with good options, nice atmosphere and decor, very quiet as we went on a Wednesday night."

  • "We arrived late for our reservation but no fuss was made and we got our favorite table. We started with a martini and they were happy to put some ginger in mine. In fact our waitperson was delightful and really helped to make this a very enjoyable evening. She gave us time to enjoy each phase of our evening. The wine list here is quite good. Some very nice choices. The young lettuces salad was terrific- just the right notes of sweet and piquant and fresh. I had a special which was the unshelled lobster. It was good. My husband ordered the special fish for the day- cod. It was spectacular. It was cooked to perfection with all the right seasonings that did not overwhelm. We give this restaurant a very high recommend."

  • "We are so happy to have found a restaurant nearby that has amazing food and great service. This was by far the best dinner we have had in the area since buying a second home here last year. Each item was impeccably prepared and portions were perfect. Can't wait to go back! The atmosphere is also elegant and comfortable at the same time. A true diner's gem."

  • "We love small plates and the multiple options for either 3 or 5 plates for very reasonable prices were a big plus. The balance of the menu was limited as one expects for turning out exquisite food. frankly, all I could manage was a nice size escargot appetizer after a 5 small plate combo (and I'm not a small guy. As first timers here, we welcomed help from our waitress who said she'd work with us on whatever mix we wanted. Note - valet parking only in their lot. Like it says, we are downtown, but the advantage is you can have great people watching if you get a front window table (we did)!"

  • "Gem amongst a sea of tourists driven restaurants. Lisa was out waitress and outstanding. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Well constructed entrees. My only comment is the menu was almost a bit too limited if one or more in your party is not a foodie. The dessert sampler is a must. Olive oil orang cake...WOW!"

  • "We chose Five-O based a previous visits. The high quality service and delicious food were as wonderful as we remembered. And the cocktails were superb. We brought along a foodie who frequently finds something to complain about, but not this time. Thank you for another fantastic experience."

  • "We celebrated Mother's Day at Five-O this year with their special brunch, and it was delicious! We had a nice corner table right by the window, and our server was very friendly & took great care of us. the food was great- benedicts, omelets, frittatas, and oh, those potatoes! I would definitely recommend Five-O for any special occasion or Sunday brunch."

  • "Five-O is a fine restaurant in downtown Ogunquit, ME. Having drinks and small plates in the bar is a fun way to check out the local scene and enjoy some light, tasty food. We ate in the dining room and had an excellent experience. Our waitress knew the menu well, helped making dinner selections and seemed to be there just when we wanted her. Each of us tried a different meal--pasta, pork and fish-- and all were well prepared, plated and tasty. The gelato- we tried chocolate and blueberry- was the perfect end to our meal. We've had Mother's Day dinner here for the ;last six years and have always found the food, atmosphere and service to be excellent. We'll be back next year."

  • "Pleasantly surprised that Brunch offered a buffet. Excellent choices. Great ambiance. Very clean and inviting restaurant. We had no kids but others did and it is kid friendly. Did not know that a regular Bloody Mary would have so much horseradish in it. A bit much. Waiter was slow and not very attentive but it was Mother's Day and very busy. Will definitely be back. "

  • "We made reservations here while on vacation. It is small, cozy, higher priced than most, and has a very limited menu. Definitely not a place for kids. We were seated in a more private , romantic corner but very disappointed when we were told that, in addition to the specials, several items on the menu were not available. The few remaining choices were more pricey and not really appetizing to us. The vegetables lacked seasoning and were not cooked well. The trout was good but the sauce with it also lacked seasoning and was very oily. The strip steak was very thick and cooked nicely but also could have been seasoned better. The staff, as well as our waitress were wonderful, very friendly and attentive. I doubt we will return."

  • "Buffet and a la carte choices were available. My husband enjoyed his meat-filled omelet. My house-made veggie burger was good. Young man playing jazz piano in the background added to the pleasant ambience."

  • "Seven of us went for Easter brunch. We had reservations for 10AM but they were not ready and we waited for about 10 minutes before being seated. When we asked about items on the menu, we were told they weren't available because the chef was going to be too busy to make that item. The service was slow, not enough waitresses. Once our order did come out, our toast items came about half way through the meal. We were offered refills on coffee after we were done eating and had to interrupt the waitress to get the check. The noise level was high, we couldn't hear people at the other end of the table and covers to chaffing big stainless chaffing dishes on the buffet fell several times. Overall, I wouldn't bother for breakfast again. "

  • "We visit the Five-O about once a year, and have never had a bad meal. We tend to order the seafood which is always fresh and prepared perfectly. We especially love the option to select a nice combination of small portion delicious appetizers to begin our meal."

  • "Great small plates and many things to share. Wait staff was helpful and we really enjoyed the evening."

  • "The salmon was good. The portion was remarkably small considering the $28 price. Same with the dessert - very good but portion was too small. My wife and I enjoyed our evening there but we probably won't be back unless we hear that portions are brought in line with the price of the food."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "You don't advertise a fixed price meal for X and then without any warning change it before the bill arrives. Then try to justify it that there was a printing error. After my pointing this out (very politely) I would expect a simple "oh i'm sorry for that, please let me take care of that right away". Instead it sounded like the management would make an issue of it. Granted it was taken care of, but only because I resisted on principle! I am in business and often price items. If I screw up on a price I live with it. Given this was a valentines meal I am surprised the owner/manager wouldn't come over and apologize - bill disputes kind of change the overall experience..."

  • "We'd often wanted to visit this restaurant, which is right around the corner from home. We all enjoyed three of their appetizers - the very best of our selection of three was their Artichoke Arancini with whipped goat cheese. Our meals were so perfectly prepared there was no need to add any seasonings. The free range chicken was moist and delicious and the risotto superb. The Gnocchi had excellent flavor as did all of our food. We plan to go again!"
