Diner Reviews
  • "We have dined here yearly on our August vacation and are usually quite impressed, but this time less so. Some of the apps/small plates were excellent, entrees were just okay. There were huge gaps between courses without check-in from the waitress for drinks. I would give it another chance."

  • "I made reservations in early July for August and asked for a table with a view because it's my husband's birthday. When my husband and I were seated we DID in fact get a table with a view. A VIEW of the kitchen even though there were tables up front by the window. Twice staff coming out of the kitchen bumped into the menus on the table, once splashing my drink onto my bread plate. Our waitress finally took our order 35 minutes after we were seated although it wasnt her fault because she had 5 tables seated within a few minutes of each other. She came rushing by on her way into the kitchen asking how the chowder was but didnt even pause for our answer. Next year we will go back to Angellinas for the great food, service, and warm atmosphere"

  • "We only had 2 nites in Ogunquid, Me. Friday and Saturday. Glad we made reservations a few days ahead. The food was terrific here. The Olive oil and Orange Cake was stellar! I also liked the tappas style appetizers as it gives a chance to sample a few interesting things."

  • "From Apps to Entree's really solid food. Waitress was knowledgeable and on point. We will return in the future"

  • "A very nice dining experience. Excellent menu variety. Outstanding food. Tough call between "Gulf of Maine" and "Maine Lobster" entrees. Wanted both. Chose latter. Yum. Attentive but not fawning service. Crying infants and shrieking very young children detracted from the ambiance. Would return in a heartbeat for the food. Place diners with infants and small kids in a separate room to foster better ambiance in the main dining room?"

  • "Five-O has become one of our standards over the past few years when visiting Ogunquit. The menu stays fresh and creative. We have been lucky enough to have the same great server for the past 3 years and now we just say "feed us". We pick the wine from a respectable list and she brings the food. They are great about splitting plates so we can sample as many things as possible."

  • "Amazing food and lovely staff. It was the perfect last night to a beautiful holiday in Ogunquit."

  • "We've walked by 5-0 on many trips to Ogunquit and finally decided to try it. It was memorable only for its shortcomings - bartenders were pretentious and snotty with no reason to be other than being "full of themselves". The cocktail list was humdrum. We were seated in the dining room right next to a really loud table with several rambunctious teenagers. The service was unspeakably poor. Appetizers appeared before bread (which finally showed up just about the time that entrees arrived). The only good thing about the meal was making the decision not to linger over dessert. If I'm spending that kind of money - I want what I want, good food, good service and pleasant atmosphere. There should be a noise level rating of obnoxiously loud."

  • "We have a summer home on a lake in Maine and every year, when we put away the charcoal grill and lobster bibs, we make a pilgrimage to Five-O. The food and service are excellent and we love the charm of Ogunquit. This year was no exception. For starters, the young greens salad and pasta bolognese were both spectacular. Our entrees, roasted chicken and the cod special, and the dessert sampler were all excellent. We will be back again and again."

  • "You can't go wrong here. I would have rated Five - O a 4.5 if possible. We arrived an hour early so we could sit in the bar and have a cocktail before dinner. We decided to order appetizers. The warm on lives as well as the mushroom ragout were delicious. We were promptly seated a few minutes before the reservation time. My husband and I ordered pasta dishes and we each loved what we ordered. The blueberry filled pastry with blueberry sorbet for dessert was delish! Our server was very good. The only area of improvement in our opinion is the wine list. We didn't feel there was a great selection."

  • "I was a little disappointed overall with my experience at 5-0. The food wasn't anything extraordinary and the service left a lot to be desired. We waited quite a while for the waitress to even come to the table (I had to ask someone else if we could get drinks.) She didn't seem particularly interested in serving us - for example, as soon as I gave my dinner order she turned away, never asking if I wanted anything else (which I did - I also ordered a salad.) The noise level was surprisingly high so it is not an intimate place. All in all it wasn't horrible, but I won't go back nor will I recommend it."

  • "I'm not one to write reviews, I have worked in several restaurants in the past, and understand a busy Sat night at a restuarant. This had to have been one of the worst dining experiences of my life, and I have eaten here before. The bartender was rude when we ordered our drinks. We were seated 20 min late for our reservation I made weeks ago. The service was so slow, made us wait for drinks and bread. The lobster was ok but not worth the price, the manager said it was 1 1/2 lb lobster, it was just the tail and it was just ok- so NOT worth $40. The steak was ok, over seasoned with salt. Mussels appetizer again unappealing, small mussels. Salad was standard. The manager was rude at the end of our meal when we told him about our experience"

  • "Right on time with our reservation, we were shown to corner table by a window as we previously requested. Our waitress was exceptional, personable and knowledgeable - assisted us with our wine selection and even helped with a small stain on a white shirt…. We ordered homemade pasta with meat sauce - superb; less successful was the branzini - too thin and slightly overcooked (blackened), I had some suspicion about the absolute freshness of the fish, but it wasn't awful. Excellent pineapple martinis - cool and refreshing, not overly sweet. Parking was a problem, the lot was full and we had to drive around for an available space nearby. We felt that if there is valet parking offered, it should be adequate for the restaurant capacity..."

  • "Drinks were phenomenal!! Small plates were tasty, interesting. Dessert was to die for! Entrees were lacking taste and over- priced for what we received. Unflavored and uninspired. Pretentious that salt and pepper were not on the table and the entrees certainly could have used them."

  • "We enjoyed every aspect of our dinner. The food and service were great. Everything was properly seasoned. The only thing we didn't love was the blueberry crostada that was on our dessert sampler. (it was a little dense) Stacey was very knowledgeable on the menu and provided great service."

  • "We went to eat for our 8th wedding anniversary and had a very good experience from the time we arrived till the time we left, our server was very attentive to all of our needs and was very good with her timing. I am not sure her name, we ate on July 22 at 6:30pm. we sat in the back of the room on a corner bench which was nice and romantic for the occasion. The food was very good. The only small complaint was that my Pork Chop was not what I had expected. I was expecting a thick cut and it came out very thin. I ordered it Medium and because of the thickness it came out a bit dry. Over all a very good experience and we will return."

  • "We used to frequent 5-O a few years ago and we returned for a nice night out a few days ago. Happily not much has changed. Good food and good service are the standard here. Valet parking makes parking easy too."

  • "After driving by Five-O a number of times, we wife and I decided to choose this restaurant for our 7th anniversary while vacationing in Ogunquit. We really loved the atmosphere both inside and out. If it was a little warmer, we probably would've sat outside but we ended up in the dining room which was still nice. We ordered the chowder and muscles for appetizers. The latter was great. Chowder was just okay. My main was a mackerel dish which was just okay. I was expecting a little more based on the description I was provided. My wife had a vegetable dish that had risotto with it, which was also okay. By far the best part of the meal were the muscles. If I were to go back to this restaurant, I'd certainly order another dish."

  • "Although we had several staff members give us water more than once, our waitress did not appear for at least 20 minutes after being seated. After that, service was poor even though we felt compelled to order everything at once."

  • "Have dined at Five-0 many times and this was the first time this summer. We usually go to their amazing wine dinners held throughout the off-season from September to early June. Our party of four was promptly seated at a table by the wall of windows. We shared some small plates of cheese, arancini and warmed olives while deciding what to order. I had the mussels as an app and roasted chicken for dinner. The mussels were in an artichoke broth and came with two generous slices of grilled bread, ideal for broth dipping. delicious!. The succulent chicken was over grilled asparagus and creamy mushroom risotto. The balance was perfect. Too full for dessert but those looked wonderful. Our server, Nick was attentive and well versed on the menu."

  • "My husband and I go to Five- O every time we are in Ogunquit! The food is excellent! The staff is very friendly. The bar is great too!"
    Dined on 7/21/2014
  • "I booked this reservation for my husband's birthday. When we vacation in resort communities we've come to expect mediocre and expensive food. Five-O shattered that stereo-type for us. It is a restaurant, that if it were closer to our home, we'd frequent. The tuna tartar was inspired. The salads, fish, and meats, fresh and expertly prepared. If you want a nice night out on the town during your trip, this is the place to go! We also brought our four year old daughter with us. If your kids have good restaurant manners, they will do just fine in this dining room. The staff was warm and inviting, engaging our daughter in conversation, and helped to find something on the menu that she would enjoy, too. Don't miss it!"

  • "My husband and I had a wonderful dinner here recently. Though the server was friendly, the service could have been a little better. We were very surprised at how delicious everything was. The appetizers, the sides and the entree were all excellent. We definitely would go back."

  • "This was our third time at Five - O. We have been going to Ogunquit for 25 years for 4 day weekends for anniversary or birthday celebrations. Five - O has been on our itinerary for the last 3 visits. We like to get there an hour before our table reservation to enjoy the bar. The bartender is so much a part of the great experience. We waited for a table in the front window which was great. The food and service is wonderful. Looking forward to coming back."

  • "Normally we like this restaurant very much (dining here several times throughout the year) but we were a bit disappointed this time. My clam chowder was not fully cooked down so that the starch was fully dissolved and my main entry which was a braised pork pasta dish was very small. It was 1/2 the size of the other pasta dishes that were ordered at our table. I would still recommend this restaurant to others but I do need to express my disappointment in the meal this night. Service was excellent though!!"

  • "This might be a good restaurant for lunch/dinner but for brunch it is not. First off they ran out of bagels. Unable to order that I ordered an omelet. Parts were over done and other parts were not cooked enough. It took a very long time to get the food. I will not be back."

  • "Very friendly staff, wished us a happy anniversary upon arrival. The food was incredible, from the bread basket to the small plates/soup, to the exceptional entrees. I wish I had room for dessert, as those options looked delicious also. We had a wonderful time here, and will definitely go back next time in Ogunquit."

  • "All the employees with whom we came into contact were very friendly and accommodating. Loved looking out at the crowds on Shore Road! The food was super and I loved that the portions were not too big. I actually had room for dessert and my cheesecake was a decent size, plenty for one person. I loved having valet parking, too!"
