Opened in 1935 as the first sit down restaurant on San Francisco's world famous Fisherman's Wharf. Started by Mike Geraldi, an immigrant fisherman from Sicily as an avenue to deliver his fresh catch to the local population. Owned and Operated by The Geraldi Family for over 70 years. "Food and service were good. Would have been better if people don't bring their crying bratty kids to restaurant. It's most likely that they can't stand the crying themselves and/or can't discipline them. Everytime I go to Fishermen's Grotto #9, I remember why I don't go there often enough. Every place should have a sound proof room for those "special" kids!!!

We couldn't wait to finish and leave..."

"The food was very good, everyone had something different, tasty and good portions for the price. Although the restaurant was not very busy for Valentines Day, I think they were short staffed, maybe they did not want to rush us, but it took a while for the waiter to attend to his tables. I noticed the next table took a while before they took their order. Waited a while for the check after we asked for it. But it was a great meal altogether. Been there before, be back again."

"Standard fare with a decent view for the same price as an excellent meal somewhere else. Crab was good (hard to go wrong with steamed crab and butter), chowder good, salmon cakes limp and unappealing with more bread per bite than fish. Some affordable wines, drinks moderately priced, but won't return. San Francisco has a lot to offer, will try something different next time I'm there."

"We've been coming to this restaurant for the last 33 years on our annual San Francisco trip. The whole Dungeness Crab is the best price/experience possible on the Pier. This is a very old-fashioned restaurant like one your grandparents might have gone to, which enhances the experience for me. The clam chowder is also good, but I NEVER have anything other than the crab so can't speak to the rest of the menu."
