  • "We have been to Fish Story before and enjoyed the food. This time a party of six. One had the sturgeon and thought it was OK. I previously had that dish and agree that it just OK as I found it very bland. A second diner had the sole and thought it was very poor since the fish was chopped up and blended into a rice mixture- not at all what she expected. The remaining four (including myself) had the Grande Le Aioli. All four of us thought the dish was the worst meal we have ever been served in Napa Valley. This was a cold plate but we were not informed of this on ordering. The quality of the food on that plate was very poor. Unfortunately, we will not be returni ng to Fish Story."

  • "The patio is pretty awesome; great view of the water, the bridge and good people watching while you drink your wine and eat. Based on previous reviews, I ordered the beet salad and the Hawaiin white fish (can't remember the name). Beet salad was ok, but not what I was expecting - the way they serve the beets leaves it with an odd texture, not my favorite. The fish was really blah - it had no flavor and even came out room temp. I would go back for wine and a nice patio, but would venture down the boardwalk a little for my meal. Oh...side note, our server was great...very attentive and helped get a special order in for my kids."

I was not impressed with my server-- I found her to be overbearing and not very accommodating. My entree was good, but I had to send my salad back, as it was awful. I will return, though, as the good outweighs the bad and I've had several better experiences there before."

Stayed and before appetizers came he snapped at a server near our table. We did leave before ordering entrees and went across the street to Thomas at Fagianis where the experience and food were excellent. Maybe this was a bad night for food story but we won't return."

  • "I live in Napa and have visited Fish Story a few times due to my father who comes from out of town wanting to eat sea food during his visits. This place displays horrible service time and again and with the food being just ok, I'm afraid this was our last time eating here. It's apparent that this place hires cheap labor when it comes to the servers and hosts, meaning people with little or no experience at serving in a high end-ish place. Not apologizing for dirty glasses, handing people their food directly from hand to hand, not opening the door for the elderly or for women with strollers on their way out the door and having poor communication skills are barely acceptable for fast food dining, let alone white table cloth restaurants."

  • "Was kind of on the fence with this restaurant. The menu was a bit limited for dinner. I had the petrale sole which was excellent; my wife had the salmon and thought it was bland. Portions were moderate and well presented. Based on the price paid, we were expecting a lot more. This was the first time we tried Fish Story---unfortunately it is probably not a restaurant that we will visit again. Outside dining along the Napa River side of the restaurant was nice, especially when it became dark and the surrounding lights added to the ambiance."

  • "We are Napan's, and foodies. We have been to Fish Story several times past. They always had good clam chowder, a lunch special, and reasonable prices. We were embarassed after dining with five friends there on 6/6. 'Three kinds' cauliflower was literally 3 small pieces all tasting the same, cold cream of corn soup, 7-8 kernals of corn & very little taste. Lobster pot eu feu, a small little bowl tasted liked new england steamed dinner with small amount of cream added, and cost $38 dollars! Four other entrees disappointed. Fair values we tasted were the rock shrimp appetizer (a version of Fritto Misto), and the lobster bisque. The wait between appetizers was over 45 minutes. This won't make it on the value scale or the gourmet scale. "

We bought drinks while waiting for a friend...when she arrived we were seated.   • "My father & I had Christmas Eve dinner and the evening hit 5 stars across the board. I had dinner on 5/17 and service was slower than slow - we ordered lobster bisque, ahi tartare & two Chilean seabass dinner specials - dinner took us over an hour to get - waiter told us the kitchen adjusts their service based on how busy with reservations the restaurant is. Food quality rocked the house and is the only reason I will give The Fish Story another shot."

  • "We went to Fish Story to celebrate the completion of a project. Our server was very attentive and the general manager, Paul O'Dowd stopped by our table to make sure everything was great. The food was fantastic with fresh seasonal selections of seafood. And for those feeling like something other than seafood, there are some other great choices. After bubbles, Pinot and our entrees...Paul introduced us to Chef Scott. It is always fun to meet the Chef behind the delicious food. The restaurant is beautiful and very accessible on the Riverfront in Napa. We will be back! "
