Fish StoryBeautifulBeautiful riverfront setting. Wonderful food by Bradley. Great people that serve you. It has it all.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMExcel. quality- reasonably pricedWe had the scallops- which were superb, Salmon was delicious but could have used better and more substantial accompaniments (a little lettuce decorating on a bed of 4 asparagus just wasn't enough). The fish a chips were hearty, substantial, well prepared and delicious. The fries were home made, fresh and delicious. The calamari appetizer was a bit small but well prepared, lightly battered and delicious. Accompanying sauces are very good too.
The only disappointment was the service which was very slow, unpolished and surprising given past visits where the service has been excellent. Water came very late- we had been sitting for about 15-20 minutes. Bread was brought to the table in the middle of the meal when we were almost done.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat fish restaurantMy wife and I had a great experience and two wonderful fish meals at Fish Story. If you visit Napa CA you owe it to yourself to visit this restaurant. The meals were great, the service was great... and if that is not enough reason to dine here, you can dine and feel good about eating at a restaurant that focuses on sustainable foods.
Eat, drink, and be happy with what you are doing for the earth.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGet the fish and chips.Best fish and chips I've had since London in 98. Great service. Halibut was cooked just right. Shrimp cocktail was plump and firm. The steamed spinach, however, has oil on it so tastes sautéed and so less healthy. Lemon cheesecake was creamy and delicious. Excellent spot for first time Napa visitors like us.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat oystersWe loved all the three premium kinds of oysters. Main courses - delicious!
Dessert was outstanding too5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent seafood in Napa!Great seafood and wine! Manhattan clam chowder, Dungeness crab, halibut...all excellent! They even gave me taro chips, to accommodate my gluten free diet.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMHalibutPan seared halibut was delicious! Chef Patrick outdid himself. Yum!!!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMSat immediately after arriving.Sat immediately after arriving. Very fast service. Almost too fast. Our wait staff was very attentive and kind. She recommended a great wine for us to drink with our meal. The Scallops were fabulous !! Would eat them again and again !!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat fish. I like that theyGreat fish. I like that they have partnered with the Monterey Aquarium so that I can order whatever I want from the menu without worrying from their sustainable-friendly menu. I also like that I can get the fish grilled simply. And the fish was prepared perfectly - not over or undercooked and fresh as could be.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time back in this restaurantFirst time back in this restaurant since a few unsuccessful tries their first year open. Patio overlooking river was very nice, and the service was excellent. Meal highlight was the perfectly cooked scallops. I will be back and let my friends know of my experience.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was a busy Saturday nightIt was a busy Saturday night when we visited this restaurant. Staff was friendly and our waiter was excellent. He apologized about 10 times for no bread being brought to our table. He said the area (a little table next to the left side of the building next to a bridge) is a new outside dining area and the bread servers forget it is there. He spoke to the manager he said, but no bread ever came. Up until the point he brought our check, he apologized, but nothing he could do he said. Our meal was outstanding. The Taro chips with the ceviche were excellent. The shrimp and crab louie was the best I've ever had. The dressing is what made it so good, it wasn't a typical louie dressing. Scallops also were amazing, some of the best we've had.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my first time atThis was my first time at the restaurant and it was great. The presentation of the food was great and it was delicious.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time at the Food Story.First time at the Food Story. Highly recommend, great food. A little on the pricey side though.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a wonderful dinnerWe had a wonderful dinner at the Fish Story! There were 4 of us and we each got something different from the menu and shared it all. The Halibut was perfectly cooked, The Ahi Ahi Tartar was divine and the Scallops were very tasty on a bed of risotto. I would highly recommend it!4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMQuiet at lunch on a weekdayQuiet at lunch on a weekday in Spring. Good destination.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMFresh, organic, sustainableFresh, organic, sustainable food and good service. Quite a find!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMyum - surprise! We made reservations and were a little nervous that it was located in a shopping center but WOW! Every thing we ordered was amazing! Started with Oysters, I had the scallops, my date won the award at our table for ordering the best dish--the cioppino. All around it was very good!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AM....walked out a couple months....walked out a couple months ago after sitting for 20 mins & no one came to our table at dinner time..only 2 or 3 tables were filled...reported it to Mgr or assist Mgr on way out..he apologized/said he'd get someone right away to take care of us but we left & said we'd try it again..& we did. Fast forward 2 months later..lunch time..about a doz tables filled...served right away..trout & clam chowder & salads & chicken dishes were delish...no problems!3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMFish Story is an excellentFish Story is an excellent restaurant with a varied and inventive menu. When we were there the other night, it was hard to choose between the many appetizing menu options. My party had the steamed mussels, the cioppino and the shrimp and crab salad. It was all delicious. Marchis half off bottle night, so we even splurged on a bottle of wine. The service was also well done. I highly recommend this gem along the Napa River.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMOur second visit to Fish Story. Our second visit to Fish Story. Really a nice view and nice ambiance inside.
Just had a salad for a light lunch this visit, but well worth it. Have had a full dinner before that was really tasty. Excellent service, as usual. Always a treat to visit Napa or Sonoma areas for a weekend (we're from South Bay) and Fish Story and a nice walk in town afterwards is a great tradition.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWinner!Fresh seafood is the calling card. We had the Manhattan clam chowder which was delicious and fresh and the Spring-like artichoke and arugala salad to star. The roasted halibut was to die for. Soft serve Ice cream sundae with caramalized banana was decadent. Thoughtful Napa Valley-cenric wine list with lots iof discoveries. And, there are very nice people serving you. Winner!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, great setting,Great food, great setting, comfortable and relaxing, it was quite an enjoyable evening dinner before a show at the Opera House.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMDesserts to die for!Really tasty food with TO DIE FOR DESSERTS! The lunch special was excellent and the fact they give you your choice of dessert from the menu is perfect for a ladies lunch which is why we went. Not sure if it's a regular Saturday thing, but all wine by the bottle was half price. The wine menu is varied and we found a great bottle of Sonoma Cutrer which cost us $21!!! We will be back and I'll be back also with my hubby next time.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMI had the small fish towerI had the small fish tower (oysters, clams, shrimp, cerviche), it was very fresh! My wife and a friend had Mahi Mahi, the fish was good but both complained about the risotto that came with it. I would go back for the beer, crab cakes (really really good!!) and to try the next size of the fish tower. Service was excellent. Very friendly staff.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent staff, both at theExcellent staff, both at the front/bar of the house and in the dining room.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMRestaurant was ideally locatedRestaurant was ideally located on the riverfront.
The food, wine list and service was exceptional from start to finish.
The menu and prices were reasonable.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious, foodie-worthy dinnerDelicious, foodie-worthy dinner without breaking the bank. We enjoyed the 50% discount on bottles of wine (good for the month of March), along with oysters and, of course, fish entrees. I had grilled mahi mahi with potato "risotto" that was a perfect compliment to the tender fish. Hubby loved the seared ahi with lentils. Vanilla bean soft serve with candied almonds for dessert. Would highly recommend.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMObsessed with the coffeeA friend and I had gone for lunch and I was so impressed I brought another friend back the next week! The service was perfect- not overbearing, not rushed. A great deal for lunch at $15 plus half off wine during March! The French press coffee is excellent!3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely delicious seafood,Absolutely delicious seafood, knowledgeable staff that kept the meal moving at a leisurely pace for our group of six. They're serving up half-priced bottles of wine during the month of March, which made for a very reasonable meal given the very high quality and presentation of the dishes.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is no Fish Story! We had one of the booth tables (which we requested through our Open Table reservation) so it was easy to carry on a conversation. All wines were half off which made it well worth it to order from their menu instead of bringing our own wine and paying corkage. We enjoyed a great bottle of Kistler Chardonnay. Oysters to start were delicious and so was the crab cioppino entree and vanilla ice cream with caramel sauce for dessert. My husband ordered an after dinner brandy and the waiter brought him a bowl of hot water so he could warm it. It made it very smooth. The waiter was from Dallas and told us it was something he had learned there. Nice touch. We will definitely need to make a return to Fish Story.3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMLove that they only serveLove that they only serve sustainable fish! We sat on the patio and were warm and comfortable. Wine was half off (all throughout March)- can't beat that! Ahi was great, so was fish and chips. Highly recommend.3/1/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a first-time review. This is a first-time review. Overall our dinner was excellent except for dessert. Wine list was pretty varied and deep, and just a little expensive as opposed to very expensive. All seafood dishes our party of 3 had were excellent, as were the soups and crabcake appetizer. Fresh-baked sourdough bread was fantastic, and service for water, wine, bread, and overall focus was really very nice. We would definitely return but would pass on desserts which were really merely average. Physical space was very nice.1/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
