Best Restaurants in Stamford
Visited while traveling on
business. Great food (loved the lobster crawfish bisk) and attentive service."

Took 15 minutes for server to
arrive at table. When I left to go to mens room, they cleared my table, even though I was already in the course of my meal. They brought the neighboring tables wine to my table 3 times - Really?? Other than that, the food was good."

Three of us went for dinner during
the week. FISH has an interesting menu concept with regards to their fresh fish. You pick you fish, how you would like it cooked, a choice of four or more sauces & a choice of vegetable. The portion size could have been larger, the meal was excellent. The wine list has some unique finds & appears to be reasonably priced. The service is outstanding, comparable to some of the best restaurants anywhere. The appetizers were excellent & the size of the salad was enough for two. The only negative on the experience was the noise level. When we entered, there was a large party toward the back of the restaurant who were very loud and the sound carried. Conversing was difficult."

Bring someone you DON'T want to
converse with. Noise level unbearable. White table cloth prices with a sports bar ambience. Management more interested in bar sales than diners."

Great seafood, wonderful service
and smart decor...."

Service was terrible! We waited
for an eternity to get our appetizers and another eternity to get our entrees. The food was just ok, nothing memorable. We were there on a thursday, I cannot imagine what a Saturday must be like. The noise level was terrible. I couldn't hear the person seated next to me."
Dined on 7/10/2014
service was abysmal among the
worst I have ever had...not rude, non-existent. the only time anyone came to our table without our having to find someone and ask for service was when they descended en masse and several times to clear our plates before we were done. There seemed to be no one managing the staff and they didn't do there job on their own. And that service negatively affected what otherwise would have been well-prepared food: our fish sat under a heat lamp for so long before it was delivered that it was way over cooked."
Dined on 7/6/2014
Went there for dinner on a
Thursday night and had an 8:15 reservation. It was extremely busy and we weren't able to be seated until 8:45. Unfortunately since the bar was packed we couldn't go have a drink to kill time. I started with the crab spinach dip which tasted great but I didn't really notice any crab and I felt that there weren't enough pieces of bread to finish the dip. Had the fish and chips for my entree. You could tell that it was finished way before the other entrees of my group and put under a heat lamp, the fish was soggy and the fries were soft. The fish had a very "fishy" smell that isn't indicative of fresh fish and was extremely mushy. Our server was energetic and attentive. Overall I wouldn't go back or recommend."
Dined on 7/3/2014
I tried the restaurant based on so
many great reviews. Went on a Weds night for dinner. Found waitress attentive and helpful. Kitchen staff could not keep up with orders though. Waited 20 minutes for appetizers/salads. Arugula and pear salad came with half arugula, half shredded pear. Seriously shredded pear? Probably because the pears were not ripe. Ordered halibut with tomato/olive sauce. Halibut was overcooked and sauce was more of a luke warm salsa. I expected better for $30 halibut. I will chalk this up to an off night and possibly give them another try in the future."

This new restaurant is the best
restaurant in Stamford. Fresh fish, good service, convenient downtown location."

weeks we have been here. the food has been great the outdoor seating is nice on a warm night. the mushroom ravioli was a pleasant surprise. the scallops are wonderful good fish tacos and the shaver BRUSSEL SPOURTS WERE REALLY GOOD AND DIFFERENT"

We had a wonderful time at Fish.
The food was fantastic!"

WONDERFUL RESTAURANT EXCELLENT
FRESH FOOD WE MAY HAVE FOUND OUR NEW FAVORITE PLACE. THE FOOD WAS FRESH AND TASTY. NO OVERKILL OF GARLIC. THEY HAVE FRESH SPECIALS EVERY NIGHT. THEY HAD A MUSSEL SPECIAL WHICH OTHERS SAID WAS GREAT FISH AND RAVIOLI WERE GREAT"
Dined on 6/24/2014
the octopus app and lobster
gnocchi were delish! nice atmosphere and outdoor seating was a bonus! brunch looks good too."
Dined on 6/24/2014
Saturday in the summer. Quiet.
French market outside. Amazing food. Great drinks. I have no idea how noisy it gets for dinner, but I'll be certain to find out! Definitely going back!"
Dined on 6/21/2014
We went for a work lunch on
Friday. It was empty when we got there so we were a little apprehensive. But boy did they deliver. The menu was very unique and made it hard to choose just one option. I got the mahi mahi special and two of my friends got the lobster grilled cheese. We were all very impressed. Cool decor with a nice vibe. Server was very nice though he could have checked in a little more often, especially since it wasn't very busy. But maybe he didn't want to be overbearing. I'm already planning to come back for dinner with my husband."
Dined on 6/20/2014
The welcome was very pleasant.
The hostess was nice and accommodating. Appetizer, fried calamari, was great. Main dish, flounder, came undercooked. After sending it back, another one was served, undercooked again. I gave up and ate it. At least, it was fresh."
Dined on 6/18/2014
probably a little boring as i have
been here 4 times and get the same entree every time the mushroom ravioli are the best i have had. for appetizers we have had the fish tacos which are great and now tried the shaved brussel sprouts. very friendly service"
Dined on 6/14/2014
The fish was great and fresh! But
the service was spotty. The restaurant is suited for those who don't mind loud music in the background. The bartender has NO IDEA how to make an Irish coffee. A boubon old fashioned was good. The white sangria was made with orange juice and a little iffy. The waiter was late arriving for work, and we had to wait for his arrival to even get drinks. Once present, he was sort of aggressively friendly. Dishes ordered were little neck clams, scallops, mussels, and salmon. All were good and well presented. The restaurant was clean and cheerful."
Dined on 6/13/2014
The food was amazing and the staff
was exceptional. From start to finish it was a great experience and the food and drinks came out in a very timely manner. Can't wait to go back."

One of the best meals I've had
this year. I'd eaten at Boca during its brief period as that incarnation and was surprised to see this reinvention happen so soon. However, now that I've eaten at FISH, I understand. Seafood dominates the menu (obviously), and every preparation was first-rate. The mussels were plump and served with a nuanced red curry. The scallops were gorgeously seared and the NOLA sauce with crawfish added depth and richness. The halibut was perfectly cooked and the scampi sauce enhanced it while allowing the delicacy of the fish to come through. Even the brussel sprouts salad was delicious with truffle oil and hazelnuts. On top of this, the service was friendly, attentive, and informative. My wife and I will be back soon."
Dined on 6/11/2014
Food is very tasty and well
prepared. The service was friendly, yet attentive. On a summer day the sidewalk dining is at treat."
Dined on 6/8/2014
Stamford has been missing a high
quality seafood restaurant and now we have one! The food was excellent, though the portions were a bit European. FISH has a pleasant ambience and the menu offers traditional and unique options. I'm not commenting on if the restaurant is great for brunch, lunch or kid-friendly because I only had dinner at FISH and didn't bring any children."
Dined on 6/7/2014
Good fish, but staff trying to
push you out the door...."

I had lunch the opening week, and
much attention has been paid to every detail in the newly renovated space, but kinks still need to be worked out. I think it will have a great future with a few changes. The wine list is unusual - I am a "winey" yet knew only a couple of the wines on the list. Maybe a "flight" offering would be a good way to get people familiar with many of the new and small production wines. California Roll was heavy on rice and very light on crab; tuna flatbread was tasty but bread kept crumbling when you took a bite, one dish we had ordered never arrived. Server was attentive, but needed some "grace" training (don't wipe spilled wine from the table with your fingers) Will try it again after growing pains subside."
Dined on 6/6/2014
Give this relative newcomer a try.
Excellent fish and shellfish. Can get noisy. Interesting wine list"

The calamari and olive appetizer
was fantastic, albeit swimming in olive oil. I had the cod, prepared simply grilled. They cooked it to my exact request, it was very fresh and not overcooked. The service started out a bit shaky (couldn't answer if a whole fish could be filleted...it couldn't...and left to find out but went off to service another table before she returned) but recovered for a lovely evening. I will return."
Dined on 5/27/2014
Most excellent fish restaurant I
ever experienced...the mussels were a 10! Ingredients fresh and presentation a wow"
Dined on 5/25/2014
Very creative menu-exciting drinks
and fabulously fresh, clean and creative seafood and fish entrees!"
Dined on 5/22/2014
Thought this restaurant had great
ambiance... decor is modern and contemporary and the front of the restaurant opens up to the outside. However, the food was nothing special and the menu was very limited. Would go again if someone wanted to try it out, but probably will not return with my husband. Nice bar area, so could go back just for cocktails."
Dined on 5/17/2014
I made a 5:30 reservation for
Sunday. The restaurant was 1/2 full, with people mostly seated outside or by the open window, which gives the restaurant the indoor/outdoor feel. Since we were having such an early dinner we decided to go with app's. We ordered pretty much every single 1 on the menu (we spent 'enough' money) I felt our waitress treated us poorly because she was probably concerned about her tip, which absolutely wasn't an issue. Our favorites were the chorizo empanada's & tuna pizza. Our least favorite was the baked clams casino. They were about the size of a quarter coin. I get the 'tapas' small plate idea, but seriously, these were so small you couldn't even taste anything. I hope they get their service straightened out. "

Made a reservation at Fish this
past weekend for Mothers Day and it was all around Excellent. The front was opened up to allow the warm spring air in, food was great, and the overalln vibe was perfect for an early dinner with Mom. Would recommend and return. "

Beet salad contained small morsels
of beets, as it was mostly lettuce. Also, I told the waiter at least twice that I cannot eat pepper (the condiment), and that he needs to make this clear to the kitchen staff. My fish was brought to the table with pepper, but they returned it to the kitchen and efficiently prepared another piece of fish without pepper. They apologized several times about the error. The entree was excellent once the correction had been made. In the future, I would hope that the staff takes a customer's dietary restrictions more seriously. One other note: Apparently the hostess did not check our name off on the reservation list, since Open Table did not contact me this time about my dining experience there."

We tried FISH for the first time
recently for a family lunch and enjoyed it thoroughly. Menu offered a very nice variety of seafood dishes, including fresh fish options prepared several different ways. All our selections were delicious -- salads, entrees, and desserts. Service was very friendly and attentive. The space is sleek and modern, but not pretentious. It is great to have a restaurant in downtown Stamford that specializes in fresh fish and seafood, particularly following the closing of Mitchell's Fish Market. Overall a very good experience, and we look forward to returning."

FISH was the perfect choice for a
birthday dinner. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but the Cod and Salmon were incredible. Our server, Andy, was also very accommodating and helpful. Can't wait to come back!"

A great sea food restaurant which
Downtown Stamford was desperately in need of. The food was incredible; staff was extremely nice and courteous. We are going back very soon, can't wait."

We had dinner at FISH on Thursday
and we were all very pleased with this new restaurant. As the name states this is a restaurant focused on FISH and they fulfuill their promise very well. Dinner with my wife and daughter where we each had something different. I had ecellent steamers followed by the Fish and chips, my wife shared in an order of Calimary hen ordered Lobster knokia from the COMFORT FOODS offering (excellent) and my daughter had the cesar salad and atlanitc halibut. We also had an excellent bottle of white wine. The food was great and the service attentive without being intrusive. FISH takes the place of "Teluride" and brings on an even better experience and food. A great addition to the Stamford food scene."
Dined on 4/24/2014
Service was wonderful and the fish
was fresh. One tip: the brussel sprout salad is a must-try."
Dined on 4/22/2014
once again, good fresh fish meal,
good service and friendly atmosphere."
