Fish out of WaterVacation HighlightOn both trips to Seaside I've included Fish out of Water for our last night of vacation and continues to be a beautifully ending to the week. The view is absolutely stunning, particularly if you can sit on the deck outside. Great cocktails and wine menu and the food is on the high end but worth it. On this visit I brought my 10 year-old daughter and it was a great treat for her as well. They have a limited but healthy kids menu and she raved that the Shirley Temple faux-cocktail was one of the best she's had. The service and staff are top notch. Life it short. The hostess and waitstaff are friendly (without being overbearing) and timely. We shared the snapper ceviche which is served with homemade potato chips - and I probably could have eaten it all by myself, but I wanted to pace myself for dessert. It was the highlight of our dining on the coast. We each had the snapper entree, which was also very light and flavorful served with tiny gnocchi and seasonal vegetables. Chocolate mousse was also very good and served with a small amount of banana ice cream that set it off well. The service and the food were most wonderful. The bourbon-infused french toast was the best -- simply mouth watering and delicious. Our view was over the top watching the sun set over the Gulf. The restaurant was beautiful and evidently the management informed all of the wait staff that it was a special occasion for us as they all congratulated us on our anniversary. The food was awesome. Steven, our waiter, was forthcoming with excellent recommendations on everything from cocktails to dessert. They really went out of their way to make a memorable evening for us. We had a great time and will definately return next time we are in the area. It is located in Watercolor Inn, right on the beach. The developers/designers spared no expense when creating this beautiful restaurant. They obviously share the same attention to detail that the chef displays every time we visit. Even though their menu is made up of mostly seafood dishes, they always accommodate my vegetarian diet with a surprise dish that is always delicious. The fried okra is incredible! If you're lucky enough to visit when gazpacho is on the menu, order 2 servings! It is the best I've ever had. Oh, and ask to sit in Brooke's section. The grouper and scallops were excellent with a tuna tartare for an appetizer. The meal was completed with an indescribable chocolate soufflé and a peanut butter an glaze provided on the house thanks to our server who celebrated our engagement with us! Also, a mojito that was tart and made properly with real sugar can. WThree of us tried the monkfish special which was a very small portion and not quite what we expected according to description. That would be our only criticism.
