Diner Reviews
  • "As ever, I really enjoy the daily specials or the fresh catch. Again, these did not disappoint. The halibut was cooked to perfection. Kudos!"

  • "I have lunch at the Fish House 3 or 4 times a year because it is a good halfway point to meet guests from the North Shore and the food is reliably pretty good - sometimes better than others. It is less noisy that most other eateries which is important to me as I am hard of hearing and my hearing aid picks up ambient noise."

  • "The Fish House in Stanley Park is a favourite of mine. The food and service are consistently outstanding and the atmosphere is relaxing. On top of that, you can't beat the beautiful setting and view. Whether it is a romantic dinner for two or a group gathering, I have found The Fish House to be a restaurant I can depend upon."

  • "Lovely ambiance, great service, large portions and cosy atmosphere."

  • "This was my first time to this restaurant. The food and service were very good. We had a table right by the fireplace which added to the ambiance. The restaurant was only half full when were there and I have noticed a lot of group on type deals for this place recently which makes me wonder if business has been dying down for them. We had the crab cakes to start then I had the mixed seafood grill and my date had the surf and turf. Everything was done well. Portions were more on the conservative side but still enough to feel satisfied. We had the chocolate tarte for dessert and it was just okay. Overall I would go back again as it was a nice quiet night."

  • "On our visit to Vancouver we wanted to eat sea food. Of the three we visited the Fish House was by far the best. It has been several years since we dined at the Fish House but compared to other places, we need to eat here more often. The service was excellent, and the food was the same. We chose a late night seating, and the pace of service and quality of the food did not suffer. This place works for couples or families."

  • "The Fish House at Stanley Park is set in one of the most beautiful parks on the entire west coast. Fresh fish selections and a great wine list add to the enjoyment. Highly recommend!"

  • "This restaurant is pleasant and relaxing. No background noise so diners are able to carry on a conversation. The menu was satisfying for a seafood destination. I love Sablefish (Alaska Black Cod) and not too many restaurants carry this item on their menu. Several in our group had the mixed Grill. The only complaint from some was that their meal was not warm enough. The service was very efficient and pleasant and friendly. The restaurant's policy of automatically adding an 18% gratuity to the bills for parties of six or more had a mixed review. The outing was a fundraising to support Dining out for Life and our small group was very satisfied with the effort."

  • "First, the food was good and the service was very good. However, the place needs renovating and updating from its old, dated look, to bring it into 2014! Being one of the iconic places of Vancouver and situated right in Stanley Park the present structure needs a new and fresher look.......rather than looking like it would fall apart any moment! The small fish prints on the walls are sad and tired looking. Futile reminders of the restaurant's name? Single pane drafty windows......really?"

  • "We went to the Fish House for a special occasion at brunch time. The service was fantastic. The hostess was so very sweet and keen to take our jackets/umbrellas. The server helped us when my family members had questions with the menu and was always around when we needed him. Unfortunately, when it came to the food, it was not very good at all. We waited 40 minutes for our brunch and when it came, all of the eggs bene (except for my sisters) were poached rock hard. The veggie omelette our table received was absolutely horrible! Tasteless, rubbery and just... wrong. Plus, they had placed the fruit touching the omelette, so it tasted sweet on the corner. Brunch is one of our favorite meals as a family and we were so looking forward to it."

  • "I have been to the Fish House many times and have never been let down. Service was brisk, efficient, unobtrusive and courteous. All three courses were delicious, and I have no complaints, except to say that while we were warned about the plates being hot the main course itself was not as hot as I would expect for newly cooked food at the moment of arrival at the table. I hope too much use is not being made of the microwave. But that point did not spoil our enjoyment of the evening."

  • "If you're looking for a nice evening out for the two of you, the Fish House is an excellent choice. The menu is concise and the sea food is delicious. However, best of all is the service -- friendly almost to a fault, smiling staff and multiple servers helping with each table. I was surprised at the quality of service which seemed to be organically driven. Can't wait to dine there again!"

  • "For a long time I have wanted to visit this restaurant. The view, the food, the service....nothing disappointed. It was really a lovely meal, and I will definitely return, the next time I'm in Vancouver."

  • "With a name like the fish house - they must excel at fish and thats exactly what they did. I had the Artic Char. It was seared perfectly on the outside and moist on the inside. If you need a seafood fix, this is the place."

  • "I don't normally take the time to review. However, the food and service here was truly outstanding!! Never been here before, but I will most certainly come again. Thanks so much to the chef and our wonderful servers for a great evening!"

  • "What a great place to celebrate a special occasion. We were warmly welcomed upon arrival and quickly seated at our table. Our server Jennifer attended to us quickly after that. Jennifer was friendly, knowledgable about the menu and made some great recommendations. I ordered the smoked black cod which was simply amazing. Presentation and portion size were perfect. The taste was superb, buttery and smoky just like the menu described it. We also had a halibut dish, gnocchi and a kids menu item of pasta and all were equally presented and tasty. I highly recommend the Fish House they delivery excellent service and food. Our visit there made our special occasion that much more special."

  • "First, the meals for the six of us came out quite staggered so we didn't eat together. Second, the portion size for the petit filet and cannelloni was disgraceful. For $36 you should at least get a whole cannelloni! There was no comparison between the portion size for the two other couples who were eating shared meals compared to the two of us who had the filet. The shared meals were enough for at least three people and the single meals belonged on the starter menu. The couples who had the shared meals were very satisfied with the taste and portion size. The taste of the single meals was very good, simply was not nearly enough food. On the other hand the creme brûlée was fabulous and the portion size was more filling than the dinner."

  • "Nice spot by the fire, great food. and all around a good time. If the guy in the parking lot had't almost smashed into my car when peeling by me to steal my sparking spot, all would have been perfect."

  • "I had somehow made a mistake on our reservation, the date for the online reservation was set for the day before I thought it was. We showed up on Valentines Day and somehow they managed to accommodate us. We usually order the Seafood platter, but this time, wee decided to try two of their new features, feature one had a small Tenderloin Steak and a Crab stuffed cannelloni, they were spectacular, feature two was Shortribs and Scallops. The shortribs were perfect and the scallops were as good as always. This is an amazing restaurant, with wonderful staff."

  • "Definitely a restaurant that has service down to a fine art. One tiny mistake, but the waitress admitted to it and made it right. Food overall was solid, with some things that were exceptional. Small letdown in vegetables as potatoes were not cooked perfectly. Still, it was Valentine's Day so the pressure would have been high to get everything out the door. Was a bit concerned about the two hour window for the five course meal, but actually it was fine. We left just on time. Appreciated the chef asking us how things were. Was the small touches that made it right. A little crowded if you are going for pure romantic dinner, but was fine for us. Note to couples looking for romance, leave your phones in your pocket. :-)"

  • "I highly recommend the The Fish House in Stanley Park, a creative northwest menu, superb Okanagan and other terrors wine list, thoughtful, unobtrusive service. A couple of years ago we were welcomed to my wife's birthday lunch with menus personalized to wish her happy birthday and a table by the fireplace."

  • "While The Fish House which is in Stanley Park should be on anyone's must go list when visiting in the summer, it was an excellent choice on a cold February evening. I'll be back in Vancourver in June and look forward to going there again."

  • "We went with a group of 7 celebrating engagements, birthdays and pregnancies and it was a great time! The chef even made a special dish for our group at the end of our meal which was very much appreciated!"

  • "Everything was good, however when I book it , it was for dineout lunch but no one told me about dine out is only for Mon-Fri. So when I got there, I just got the regular menu. I was a little disappointed because they should have told me when I book the reservation. The food is pretty good though."

  • "Dine here for the last evening of Dine-out Vancouver 2014 with a few friends. Originally I would thought it would be super busy, but it was surprising calm. The food was good, I wasn't too familiar with one of the choices on the menu and the server very accurately described it to me to help me making my choices. It was either I was too involved with my friends' conversations but the dishes seems to fly out of the kitchen! Not totally a bad thing, but just slightly felt rushed."

  • "We were 7 ladies 3 generations out for a special night. The food was good, but not memorable some dinners were not very hot and short ribs a bit dry. In all fairness it was dine out special. Service was fantastic our server was especially nice to my elderly Mom. We found restaurant a bit too loud, difficult for conversation"

  • "We had a nice time. The service was very good and our server was very attentive. Foodwise, taste is pretty good. I had the leg of lamb. It was tasty but could use more sauce. My sister had the beef short ribs, and she had the same complaint - need more sauce. I don't know if it was because of Dine Out, but we all thought the portion size was a bit small. We all loved the pistachio panna cotta and I enjoyed the candied salmon chopped salad. More lighting from the parking area to the restaurant would be good to."

  • "Been a number of times and while the night was good it was but not great. Seated next to the front door and windows and it was cold so we had to wear to coats. The food was good but lack inspiration. It is best on a summer days"

  • "We went to the Fish House as it was part of Dine Out 2014. The menu was so good that I would have been happy with any of the choices. Our server "Julie" was very helpful in answering our questions and helping out with our wine choice. We were put in a nice location and were able to sit back and chat with one another. All 3 of us would certainly recommend this restaurant at anytime not just during the Dine Out experience. Rosie"

  • "Service was outstanding and very attentive. The 2/3 starters were delicious: Crab Cakes, Avocado Spring Roll. The lobster bisque was the second time I had had it and it just seems bland. It needs a stronger lobster flavour. The mains were good. Nothing stood out as amazing. The arctic char plate was weirdly composed and the different parents didnt mesh well together. The braised beef short rib was okay, but the risotto underneath was OUTSTANDING. The lamb was well cooked and good but nothing i would dream about later. The Vanilla cheesecake with apple crumble topping was DIVINE, but the smores were stuck to the plate with a choclate mousse, and extremely hard and difficult to eat. The panna cotta was forgettable. I wouldnt eat it again."

  • "Ate here for Dine Out Vancouver and had their lunch menu. The food tasted great and cooked right. Our server could've been a little more attentive but not bad. The atmosphere was great and the views were lovely! Would be better to be on the patio on a nice summer day!"

  • "Absolutely delicious food (meat cooked to melt-in-your-mouth goodness and perfectly seasoned vegetables). Fantastic presentation. Beautiful paintings and elegant-casual decor. Waiter courteous and knowledgeable, and also very charming with prompt service. I enjoyed my time there and will definitely recommend this to anyone, especially those who love seafood."

  • "Seafood always cooked to perfection .. one of the reasons we come here. As well, the meals are never salted as we find in most restaurants, food too salty. We had the crab cakes for appetizers. They were excellent. Most other restaurants have too many fillers and way too salty. Service excellent. We come regularly, but this time we came on Dine Out Vancouver. We had the Artic Char, but didn't care for the ''deep fried' mashed potatoes. (potato croquette) Would be nice if we had a choice of rice or regular roast potatoes."
