FishGreat service!Staff could tell we were there to celebrate my nieces' graduation and they apologized for their lunch setup. They worked to upgrade our situation and give us great service along with an outstanding meal!!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic FishMy wife and I had an excellent meal at Fish. The menu choices were a joy to read and finally experience. We enjoyed it so much we have reserved a table for our last night in Charleston.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGood FishThe food was good, innovative with a bit of an asian tint . The service was friendly, helpful and patient. I enjoyed it and would definitely return.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food. Sorry we waitedGreat food. Sorry we waited so long to try. So many decisions to make...5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent menu - love theExcellent menu - love the dim sum approach for appetizers.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMUnder-mentionedEntering this lovely space feels like looking underwater on a calm day -- soothing and soft colors with vibrant art on the walls and hanging from the ceiing -- shades of Farallone in San Francisco but very much its own place. My dinner was one of the nightly specials: 2 lovely chunks of perfectly crusted (no coating) grouper on a bed of avocado-coconut rice with bite-sized chunky roasted vegetables -- beets, carrots, asparagus. We arrived at 6:30pm and the restaurant was still quiet but as the dining room we were in filled, the noise level went up ... we could still hear each other at our table, thank goodness.
This place is a real winner -- for all.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMThe bouillabaisse was outstanding. The bouillabaisse was outstanding. The seafood was very fresh and the coconut milk base had just the right touch of flavors to be sublime. Overall, a terrific meal. Thanks, Fish!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMSomethings never change, ISomethings never change, I recently moved back to Charleston and I'm happy to report that Fish is still awesome. The Dim Sum is amazing, all of the Main Courses where awesome, service was great. Loved it and will definitely be back!4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of Charleston's under-appreciatOne of Charleston's under-appreciated restaurants. Every course exceeded our expectations. The Dim Sum appetizer was inventive and delicious as was the Dim Sum dessert. We both enjoyed the short ribs - very inventive presentation and absolutely delicious.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a fairly early pretheaterWe had a fairly early pretheater dinner on a Saturday night. Nicole, our waitress was beyond outstanding, the lobster was the best I'd had and the desert was fabulous! Definitely a restaurant I'll go to again.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWent to Fish to check outWent to Fish to check out their new spring menu and the only problem I had was trying to decide what to order! Love the dim sum approach to appetizers and desserts - perfect for sharing and sampling the talents of the chef. I went with a special featuring Triggerfish and totally cleaned my plate. Living in Charleston, I'm constantly asked where to get fresh, local seafood and I will definitely be pointing them in the direction of Fish.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMFood received was good, goodFood received was good, good presentation, adequate portion. However, items on the menu for a late evening supper were not available. We chose 3 bottles of wine off of the wine list before we found one that was available. The manager was very apologetic and did his best to make his establishment's deficiencies right.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe so enjoyed out luncheonWe so enjoyed out luncheon at Fish - the menu was very innovative and the food was excellent as was the service. Great place to start off an afternoon in Charleston as it is close to the visitor's center.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMLocated on King Street, oneLocated on King Street, one bock off Meeting (the main north/south street). It is in a busy part of historic Charleston. It is near the Visitor's Center parking garage which is a huge plus. It looks small from the sidewalk, but when you get inside, it is connected to the building next door, with a patio between. It is decorated in a historic theme. The menu is smaller. Mostly seafood, but a beef/chicken/duck item or two. We both had seafood and it was very good! Service was friendly, helpful and not too chatty. The food came out pretty quickly. A good wine list and a full bar. They were busy!
We hope to go back some day!4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went to Fish expectingWe went to Fish expecting a lively place with a fun menu - especially liked the sound of the fusion dim sum items - and were pleasantly surprised by the superb quality of the food. One of our dishes was described as flounder from North Carolina, it was one of the best tasting fish dishes I have ever had at a restaurant and that includes five star fish restaurants in New York.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent menu, great specialityExcellent menu, great speciality cocktails, in the cool Upper King neighborhood. We were in Charleston on a very busy evening, and we were extremely happy to book a table here somewhat last minute.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and service were great.Food and service were great. Sarah, our server, was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiasic about the menu - no question she could not answer. We were seated in a quiet dining room on the first floor looking out onto King Street. Lobster roll a delicious bahn mi-like take on the New England standard. The "dim sum" were inventive, while small, they were just large enough for each of the 3 of us to have a bite. Although primarily a seafood place, we'd eated so much seafood we were starting to grow fins and scales, and I opted for the roasted chicken. Perfectly cooked, served with was was billed as quinoa, but looked more like couscous, and "peas and mushrooms" - black-eyed peas and wild mushrooms. Great combo. We'll be back!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic food, fresh, top-qualityFantastic food, fresh, top-quality ingredients, creative and well executed. We had an excellent meal. Be sure to try the Dim Sum appetizer!4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThanks for the adventureLOVE the inventiveness of the chef and the pastry chef. We love the adventure offered by our meal at FISH. the dim sum pork belly and duck confit were delightful. Lobster dim sum was relatively bland compared to the rich, deep flavors and umami of the meat. Bouillebaisse was wonderful and the figgy/piggy pudding was divine!! I cannot get over the inspired pairing of bacon, fig and yamasaki egg nog. REALLY? It was waaayyyy wonderful. I had a really nice deep red wine from Spain - garnacha or some such. Too bad we didn't feel like a bottle since they have half price bottles on certain week days.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love FISH and plan to goWe love FISH and plan to go there on every trip to Charleston! Tofu and fish entrees are divine! Beautiful presentation, love the variety of offerings and non-dairy accommodation e.g. roasted baby cauliflower w/ peas sans cheese. Striper was delicious, perfectly prepared, and the Pad Thai was excellent! Thank you!!3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMinventive and freshMy dad, who is a southern traditionalist and had been hoping we would choose Hank's so he could order the fried seafood platter, proclaimed the curried crab soup "better than she crab soup, it has a better crab taste." That soup WAS amazing, as was the fun dim sum menu ($10 for 4 choices). I ordered the lobster tail, and it came with a deconstructed sweet potato ravioli and the spinach side was served in the empty lobster tail. It's inventive food that doesn't go over the edge, and everything tastes really fresh.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a Find! Our first dinner while visiting Charleston & it set the bar high! I had advised this was our first time away as a couple since becoming parents & my birthday week....we were seated at an intimate corner table, & greeted by a smiling and gracious Sarah. Everyone seemed genuinely happy we were there. The Clams and Fromage Du Jour started the evening out delectably. Sarah offered her opinion for a good bottle of white wine to our taste and -BONUS- it was 1/2 price bottle Monday! The menu is fresh and plentiful-from small to large plates there is something for everyone. For dinner we enjoyed Bouillabaisse & Scallops, leaving us full and satisfied. Although we passed on dessert, Sarah & the Manager brought a lit candle S'more Brulee - OMG, YUM!!3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat an incredible menu. What an incredible menu. Love the fusion of French and Asian. The dim sum was an excellent idea as we had escargot, lobster, artichoke and crab in beautiful two bite tastes as an appetizer. The entre was also wonderful. This is a unique restaurant and worth every bite!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMDefinitely go to Fish! This was my first time at Fish and we all loved it! The service was great. The ambience was fun. The food was wonderful. My party had the Tilefish, scallops, bass special and the naked fish. All were cooked perfectly and enjoyed by all of us.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMVery goodGreat quality and friendly staff.
