First CourseFoodie FavThe food was excellent. Portions were tapas-sized as the menu suggests and priced accordingly so that a small plate did not cost what you would expect to pay for a large plate.
The restaurant filled up quickly so i was glad i made reservations. With summer coming and outdoor dining available, this will be more manageable.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMHas never disappointed...First Course has never disappointed us and we frequent the place either for a meal or just drinks. The food is creative, the service is attentive and one of our favorite combos plays there Thursday evenings. What could be wrong with that?5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMSurprisingly good foodWe had eaten here years ago and had forgotten about the place. We had a coupon so we went Thursday night and had an excellent meal. We will be back!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food, good feelingThe atmosphere is very relaxing and romantic with a lower light setting and lots of tables for two. The wine and beer list provided many choices and they keep three microbrews on tap which definitely passed the taste test. The food was very good and they have a list of special meals of the day to keep things interesting.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMDate absolutely LOVED ITRecently started dating a sophisticated 40-something downtown foodie. She has a job where she has to entertain clients at lunches & dinners on a routine basis, and has been to nearly every restaurant in the Twin Cities. Yet she wants to discover & experience new places with me. Coming up with dinner plans is quite a challenge to say the least! Took a shot at this place, and am I glad I did! It was a home run in her book-from the small intimate setting/cool decor, to the live background music, to the solid food & wine. Table location is key, but she couldn't stop raving about this place from start to finish. The start of one memorable night! I thought everything was good, but who cares when your date is this thrilled? Thanks First Course!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat AmbianceVery enjoyable dining. Able to hava conversation with friends with fabulous live backround music. Food was great. will return again5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThe gnocchi was phenomenalThe gnocchi was phenomenal - the pork chop a bit overcooked - but the service was excellent. This is ambitious little gem, offering finer cuisine while hiding in plain sight amid a strip of small stores.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst course never disappointsFirst course never disappoints us. The food is creative, the service is friendly and informative. We dine here pretty often.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food with a small,Excellent food with a small, yet unique menu. Great atmosphere - there was live music playing and a good overall noise level. A new favorite.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was the first time thereIt was the first time there for all three of us. We loved our food and the atmosphere. There is something on the menu for everyone. Will definitely return.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was fabulous perThe food was fabulous per usual. My friend tried the kangaroo risotto, which she loved, but the pieces of kangaroo were miniscule, which left her starving afterward. So if you are hungry, try something else.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMfood was very good. the portionfood was very good. the portion where a little small for what you payed.but would go back.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and great serviceThe food was awesome! The service was well informed of the menu, and the specials were well special. Nice stumbled upon find. Will be adding to my round robin of eateries.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Neighborhood SpotLived in the neighborhood for years and didn't know it was there. Excellent wine list, food and service were fantastic. We will definately be back - Glad we went.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMVery cute place, with a niceVery cute place, with a nice menu (try the Mussels!), and excellent advice on wine and wine pairings!.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMNieghborhood gemI picked this restaurant solely on location and was very pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the food and excellent service. The modest storefront next to Kowalksi's grocery store gives no hint of the quality inside. Our group of five started with a selection of Tapas plates which were small, of course, but very good and easy to share. Then entrees ranging from pasta to fish to a Bison burger, all of which received thumbs up from the diner. We will return to this neighborhood gem.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMSecret discovery in South MplsThis was our first time at First Course and we were hesitant from the street view store front, but we entered despite our doubts. Inside, the atmosphere was warm, cozy, and comfortable. We were warmly greeted, and I could tell that there were a few repeat patrons. We sat down, were offered beverages right away. It was hard to choose only one item from the menu! We tried each others meals and they were both delicious. The entire visit was a fabulous surprise.
Do not be fooled by the simple exterior, this place is a treasure.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was great, as was theFood was great, as was the service. My beer was nothing special (monkey Fist or something like that). But not so big a deal that I mentioned it to the waitress - I get the feeling she would have exchanged it immediately. I was on a first date and didn't want to look finnicky.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMMom's Birthday Dinner... SheMom's Birthday Dinner... She felt like a queen! Loved it!3/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
