First Cabin at Balboa Bay ResortWhat a View!Celebrated at dear friend's birthday with a small ladies lunch for four at the First Cabin...WOW! Great service, excellent food and menu choices and the outdoor dining experience was perfect. I ordered the crab and shrimp salad and it was so delicious, wish the portion had been slightly larger:-) Can't wait to get back to enjoy the view, food and service.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMBay DiningExcellent curb service and matre'D service. Waitress okay but not very attentive especially since there were only 3 or 4 tables occuppied Rib-eye steak was way overpriced at $46 and two of my guests ordered it.. The taste was not enough to cause them to eat much so they took it home for their respective dogs. .
The worst and most silly event was the decision to seat a group of six to the adjacent table when there were 30 or so empty tables. We all could have more space but they "crowded" the two reservations at two adjacent tables. I asked why they were setting up the table for six next to ours and they said 6 guests were arriving later. Food was good, except that the dessert was very so-so. Soup and main entree were excellent. Service was not quite as good this time as it has been in the past - I guess I have just been spoiled.
Also when the reservation was made I was asked if it was a special occasion. I responded that it was a birthday celebration, but no mention was made of this by anybody at any time. Seems a little pointless to ask the question if not even a greeting of "Happy Birthday" is forthcoming.

We couldn't have picked a better place. The food was top-notch -- appetizers, salads, entrees, and desserts. Everything was prepared perfectly and our waiter, Mike, was both pleasant and knowledgeable. Mike was our waiter and he was fabulous! The view is a hidden find, the food was perfect and again, the service was fabulous! Some may have a feeling that the Bay Club is an older feel, but it isn't. Sit on the patio with friends at 5pm, enjoy the sun then the sunset, stay for hours. Friends visiting from the Midwest loved the setting and food. We all ordered different things and everyone was delighted with their choices.
