Diner Reviews
  • "This experience is built around three fireplaces, each offering a different course. Raclette cheese wheels melted onto plates by open fire is the anchor course, followed by a stews and weekly specials at fireplace two, and capped off with steaming dark chocolate, caramel, and white chocolate cups with nearly every concievable accompaniment - almonds, pretzels, dried apricots, fresh strawberrys, biscotti, an assortment of cookies, etc. Plan your trip well in advance as this popular dining experience sells out and reservations are required. This is a feast to be lingered over, so leave plenty of time to relax and sip a wine or beer between courses, and dress in layers in case you want to add a ride in a horse-drawn carriage between stations."

  • "Fireside is such a special dining experience. It is amazing that they transform a ski lodge into a cozy and comfortable restaurant with four big fireplaces. The highlight for me is the first course -- the melted raclette cheese with fresh bread, prosciutto, salami, mustards and a delicious strawberry chutney. The other courses are delicious as well -- the trout, wild boar ribs were good, but the lamb is out of this world! Finally, the deserts -- apples, bananas, strawberries cookies, and chocolate, caramel and white chocolate fondues -- are yummy! The biggest challenge is not to over-indulge. Fireside is one of the best and most original dining experiences of my life, and I highly recommend it."

  • "Server was very good. Some food very good, some stews too salty, but overall good. Dessert was great. Ambiance great. We had a table next to the window overlooking the beautiful lighted trees of Montage Hotel. Would probably not return, unless bringing guests that have not had dinner here before. Special occasion dinner. It was great that we brought our own wine, and corkage fee waived for first bottle. Specialty drink Side Car not made well, and the server took it off the tab. Glad we went, for a special dinner."

  • "Consistently good food at all stations. Friendly and attentive staff. A little overpriced for a buffet, even one so gourmet."

  • "I had a group of 8 friends in town for a ski trip and this meal really set the bar. We had a large group but were accommodated well with a larger table. I was apprehensive about the buffet style service, but it was flawless. We had a later reservation and there were very few other tables so we did not wait in any line. As you finish each course you move onto the next station. It was really a wonderful dining experience- the food was amazing, we talked about it all weekend, and the service both at the course stations and our waiters were excellent. Thank you!"

  • "My family and I had a wonderful experience at Deer Valley's Fireside Dining. The food was extraordinary, and although it's mostly a serve-yourself venue, the staff, friendly and attentive. The setting is lovely, mountain views, tables set appropriately for comfort and privacy. The process of carrying your plates to each Fireside "station" for that particular selection was great - as there is so much food you HAVE to move-about for comfort's sake. All the offerings were fabulous from the raclette starter, to the fondue/desert table. Best was the perfectly roasted Leg of Lamb, though the Veal Stew and Pork Capun were right up there on the fantastic list. My only disappointment - so few veggie offerings. We'll go back! You should, too!"

  • "A wonderful, cozy ambiance with an interesting variety of foods, prepared by the fireside or kept warm. The cheese racelletewith the different charcuterie, choice of cured meats was a nice start. The leg of lamb was very tasty prepared hanging in front of the fireplace. The salad station with the different types of beets and flavored butters and jam spreads added more variety of tastes. The dessert bar by the fire had the different sauces of chocolate, caramel and grand marnier to go with an assortment of fruit and baked goods. The wait staff was very attentive and cleaned off the plates quickly. The wine list had a nice selection."

  • "Great service, lovely ambiance but terrible food. Although the raclette and lamb were quite good, the soups, side dishes, and vegetables were overly salted, a couple of which were inedible. The gumbo had a nice consistency but the salt ruined the flavor. The collard greens were salted to the point of being inedible, ditto for the grits. This is a $$$$ restaurant that should not be using sslt as a cheap way to flavor food. Certainly any good chef knows how to bring out favors wiihout resorting to such tactics. I will not return to this restaurant ...I am a local in Park City ...there are other restaurants at this price point that are so much better."

  • "You should arrive hungry at this venue. I have eaten here several times, and the changing menu is always delicious. Four fireplaces provide a rich bounty of delectable delights. The Racclette cheese, the leg of lamb, and the dessert fondue are always plentiful and wonderful. Everyone I take here loves it. The views outside are lovely...you can see the runs of Deer Valley. The service is excellent, but it's the abundant food that is really so incredible. You can return to each fireplace as often as you like. When in Park City, this is a must do!"

  • "We had a beautiful table by the fireplace where we could look out at the horse drawn sleigh bringing people in the snow. They do a great job camouflaging the ski lodge into a dining hall. The wait staff is cheerful and attentive. The food is lovely and complex. The dessert simple yet absolutely memorable. Really enjoyed and look forward to sharing w/ others."

  • "The food was delicious, the selections were varied and well matched, the presentation was excellent, the service was impeccable, the ambiance was subdued and romantic, the location was lovely. It was a completely delightful dining experience that I will repeat whenever in Park City."

  • "Not your typical buffet. Excellent food prepared in authentic Swiss mountain style."

  • "Amazing service and delicious food. I have done fireside dining numerous times and I just wish that the food was consistent. Sometimes its just not as good as the previous dining experience."

  • "Close friends who had been to Park City before told us not to miss this place; and I am glad that we listened. The concept here is that there are five or six food "stations" in front of each of this lodge's massive stone fireplace; one with a melted cheese dish, one with slow cooked lamb, desserts, etc. So, yes, it's a buffet type experience. The food and flavors are incredibly inventive. The lodge is a ski lodge by day but is a truly impressive place with soaring ceilings, hand hewn beams, etc. Service was attentive but was really just to serve drinks and clear plates. Only downside is the cost, but it's at Deer Valley and in line with everything else in Park City."

  • "Our dining experience was okay. The good quality was good, but not worth the price. The atmosphere lacked character and service was acceptable, but again, not worth the price. Many servers appeared to be loitering around the bar and our server seemed too busy. Water and clearing service were well done. Raclette is a favorite, but the way racelette is served, the quality is sacrificed. Some of our tables raceltte was warm and melted, but two of us were directed to another fire place where our plates of raclette had been sitting on the hearth of the fire. The cheese had cooled and congealed."

  • "Almost all the food at Fireside Dining is very good and there is more than enough variety, but the raclette and its accompanying meats, pickles, etc. are fantastic. The leg of lamb runs a close second."

  • "Fireside Dining encapsulates apres ski dining. The early evening has family groups enjoying european style ski food (raclette, stews, chocolate fondue) which I should imagine gets more romantic for the later sittings (we were there early so this is purely speculation). The wine list looks good but you can also byo (first bottle opened with no charge). The snowy mountain, complete with horsedrawn sleigh, can be seen from the lodge windows. An excellent evening - lots of things to taste and try - easy to taste and try too much!"

  • "Another great outing to Fireside, we wait all year to go skiing so we can go to Fireside dining. This year we brought my daughter and fiancée and the loved every part of it. I can't wait until Feb 2015"

  • "It was a beautiful setting. The food options were somewhat limited, as not everyone is up for lamb & veal - but we enjoyed ourselves."

  • "We dined at this restaurant during a 2 week stay in Park City. It was a relaxing and memorable evening. Food very good especially the raclette and the strawberry chutney. Staff attentive and discreet. Not hurried in any way and you can eat as much or as little as you wish. Magical setting in the mountain with snow falling outside with children sleigh riding and roaring fires inside. You need to book in advance. Will certainly return on our next trip."

  • "We have been going to Fireside Dining since they first opened, and make it a point to visit every time we've been to Deer Valley for skiing. The food is great, the setting is very unique, the servers are terrific. Basically, I don't think we can say enough good things about the whole experience! It does fill up quickly, and we'd suggest you make your reservations early (as in September or October)."

  • "Our son chose this restaurant to celebrate his 17th birthday with family because of the rostii and raclette. He had them in Switzerland on a bike trip there a few years ago. Both were excellent as were all the other choices. Prepared and seasoned expertly with appropriate portions. It will be memorable for him."

  • "Fireside is one of our family favorite dining experiences -- it will remind travelers of meals in the European alps. Swiss and Austrian favorites prepared well served at three fireside stations. We visit each trip we make to Deer Valley, and every visit we rave about the meal. Not inexpensive, but great value. And it works great for groups. Just remember to make your reservation well in advance!"

  • "A yearly tradition during our January ski trip is a dinner at Fireside Dining. It never fails to be amazing. It isn't just dinner, it is an experience. The four different fireplaces serve raclette cheese with condiments to die for, soups and stews, roasted lamb/beef and finally a chocolate fondue fireplace. There is also a salad table. The wine list is extensive but you can take your own and pay a reasonable corkage fee. The service is very attentive. Be sure to make a reservation well in advance as it is only open Friday/Saturday/Sunday evenings per week through ski season. Make the trip - it is definitely worth it and you won't be disappointed."

  • "We went to Fireside Dining after a day on the slopes. Great meal for the entire family, ample choices for all the different taste buds. Really enjoyed that the meals are cooked by the fireplace. Great way to spend an evening with the family. Wonderful service as well!"

  • "This is a restaurant to visit for the experience. Food is ok. The whole concept is cute. This was our second time here because my husband thought our son would like to experience it once, then he couldn't go. The dessert fondue station is very good and a bright spot to an otherwise disappointing meal. It's a restaurant to go to once, just once."

  • "We were a group of 7 adults, five who had not been at the restaurant before. The ambience was terrific inside the Empire Lodge with fireplaces roaring and excellent food. All of my guests gushed with compliments. To improve I suggest increasing the professionalism of the staff commensurate with the expectations and standards of Deer Valley and varying the the menu a bit as what we had for Christmas dinner was the same as two weeks later."

  • "After reading about fireside dining experience at DV for years, my husband and I finally went. Location and ambience perfectly wonderful set in lodge that overseas mountains with roaring fireplaces. Had table next to raclette station & I enjoyed the most.Food very good but some not warm & overcooked. Plentiful selections & service at stations very nice. Waiter very enthusiastic & nice but seemed to have too many tables or spent time at other tables being enthusiastic because we had to search him out to take care of a couple of things. Overall a wonderful experience, glad we did it and would recommend to others to enjoy it as well. Given the price, however, it will be one of those special occasion venues vs. a regular haunt."

  • "This is the third time we spend the New Year's Eve at the Fireside Dining restaurant in Deer Valley and it was again an astonishing experience. The fireplace system ( 5 fireplaces with 4 different types of food, starting with cheese Raclette) is fantastic and the quality of the food was amazing, as ever. They booked us a scenic view table facing the mountain and we started 2014 with the right foot!!!"

  • "The food and service were spectacular. After our dinner we were able to talk to the head chef for about twenty minutes and he was extremely nice. If you have kids go around the holidays as it is a more kid friendly menu. A+++ dining experience."
