We were greeted by the hostess and offered a choice of a quiet table in the back room, or an airier spot in front, with a view of the kitchen, which we took. The regular menu was available, along with several brunch items. Our very helpful and friendly waiter recommended a brunch item - the spinach and carmelized leek Frittata with mixed greens, which was great. The spinach and ricotta ravioli from the regular menu was also a huge hit. This will be your 50th review that you read that states ORDER THE TRUFFLED GNOCCHI. Simply the most amazing thing. The pork chop was cooked in a way that I didn't even know you could cook pork. It looked like a steak on the outside but when you cut into it, it was so tender and juicy. The flavor was unlike any pork I've tasted. I can't even begin to tell you how amazing my dish was. Just order it. My friend ordered a seafood pasta that was divine - perfect flavor and my sister ordered the chicken fussili that was just a delicious pasta. Can't go wrong if you want to go basic. The birthday girl selected the short rib ravioli, which is always a good choice, but sadly the pasta was underdone and a little too hard. They were really good about it and re-did her order and it was really good. I had the rack of lamb special which was really good. I would order that again as each bite was wonderful. All in all we had a really good time and the feel of the restaurant was relaxed and warm. Not only is the food always delicious but it's so convenient to taking the Subway from the Universal station. I took my sister there, which was her first time, before heading to the Pantages, and she was very pleased with the food and would come back again. Only 4 on the plate but they were large. Could have eaten a couple more. Appetizers were delicious: we sampled the red pepper soup, calamari & zucchini and the caprese salad-all yummy!
