Firenze OsteriaGreat SupriseReviews were good, and location was close to our meeting.. The outside of the restaurant did not have super curb appeal, but the interior was quite nice.. Service was very very good.. but the food was really exceptional. When I say exceptional, I should note we've enjoyed amazing restaurants from top chef''s and this is one of the few meals where my wife has talked for a couple of days afterwards how exceptional the lunch was and yet the cost per person was under $35 with tip included!

Food was fabulous - my husband is still talking about the butternut squash ravioli. Buratta salad was superb. Have his new cookbook and hope to try many of the recipes. Unassuming from the outside but warmly appointed and inviting on the inside. It has wonderful ambiance and I can't say enough about the food there. I've tried a different dish each time I visited and have never been disappointed. Every portion is perfectly sized for a moderate appetite. You won't be left hungry but save room for dessert. It can get a bit noisy when there are many large groups there but not so much that you can't hear your table. This really started from the moment we were greeted at the door. So, we decided to try Firenze, and went early (6:30 reservation). This worked out perfectly for us with the kids. The restaurant was only half-full when we arrived, we had very attentive, nice service, and the food was delicious. We left before it got too loud and crazy. It was a very pleasant, lovely dinner, and again - all our food was FABULOUS! The cocktails were great, and they had a nice wine selection, too. When we entered we were asked if we'd prefer the front room which is within sound range of the bar and somewhat frenetic, or whether we'd like to be seated in the adjoining room which was more quiet and for which we opted. We were greeted by the hostess and offered a choice of a quiet table in the back room, or an airier spot in front, with a view of the kitchen, which we took. The regular menu was available, along with several brunch items. Our very helpful and friendly waiter recommended a brunch item - the spinach and carmelized leek Frittata with mixed greens, which was great. The spinach and ricotta ravioli from the regular menu was also a huge hit. This will be your 50th review that you read that states ORDER THE TRUFFLED GNOCCHI. Simply the most amazing thing. The pork chop was cooked in a way that I didn't even know you could cook pork. It looked like a steak on the outside but when you cut into it, it was so tender and juicy. The flavor was unlike any pork I've tasted. I can't even begin to tell you how amazing my dish was. Just order it. My friend ordered a seafood pasta that was divine - perfect flavor and my sister ordered the chicken fussili that was just a delicious pasta. Can't go wrong if you want to go basic. The birthday girl selected the short rib ravioli, which is always a good choice, but sadly the pasta was underdone and a little too hard. They were really good about it and re-did her order and it was really good. I had the rack of lamb special which was really good. I would order that again as each bite was wonderful. All in all we had a really good time and the feel of the restaurant was relaxed and warm.
