Diner Reviews
  • "Our waiter was dismissive and misunderstood our order. He forgot my husband's appetizer and brought us the wrong entree'. Since he didn't check back often enough we simply ate what he brought us. He apologized but made no effort to correct his mistakes and make the experience a more positive one. It's unlikely we'll go back. "

  • "This is one of Denver's great places in one of Denver's great neighborhoods."

  • "Nice feeling in the restaurant, noisy hard to hear, food is good not exceptional, would like to see a few true Italian/red sauce items on the menu to round to options."

  • "As has been our experience every time we return, this restaurant serves dishes that are fantastic, each full of flavor and creatively prepared. Their wine selections are well thought out whether purchasing by the glass or bottle with no duds to choose from."

  • "Enjoyed this very Italian restaurant a couple years ago so we returned for Denver Restaurant Week and we are glad we did. Carpaccio with arugula was an excellent first course. We chose a richly flavored red wine, Castello di Camigliano Rosso di Montalcino. second course of Bistecca Piedmontese con funghi (beef from Italian Piedmontese steer) was outstanding done exactly right and the Maialino in Crosta (encrusted pork tenderloin) was tasty although the cut may have been from something other than the tenderloin. For dessert the olive oil cupcake sounded a bit different but was not impressive while Fragole con Gelato (vanilla gelato and strawberries and a cointreau-balsmic glaze) tantalized the taste buds very nicely. Highly recommended!"

  • "Everyone in the Highlands area knows Firenze a Tavola but not so much around town. This restaurant is so very charming and the food is authentic Northern Italian cooked to perfection. Whenever you go, order whatever the chef is preparing with the wild boar. Fabulous! I have been there during regular menu times but my latest visit was during Restaurant Week. I have never been to any other restaurant over the years that offered so many choices for each course, and reduced the price of their wine list during the week as well. Everything was spectacular! Wonderful ambiance, incredible service and spectacular food. Who could ask for more?"

  • "service was terrible! my water and soda glass sat empty on the edge of the table from the time the appetizers arrived until the desert order was taken and I had to ask. either she was overwhelmed or didn't care since we were not buying alcohol."

  • "We went to this restaurant on a 5280 restaurant week. We didnt know what to expect, but were pleasantly surprised at the ambiance. It is not a huge place, but it is very cozy and has a lot of character! The waiter was personable and had a fun approach. The meal was tasty-we had a fixed menu, but will be back to try out more!"

  • "We went for restaurant week and as always, dinner was excellent. Everyone got something different for every course and all dishes were great. The dish that stood out was the raviolli al branzino, which is sea bass-filled ravioli made with squid ink with a lemon and fig cream sauce. It was excellent. The gnocchi, steak and pork were also great."

  • "Since it is a basement and the ceiling is low the notice level was much of a problem. It was very busy also. Which is a good thing."

  • "During restaurant week, portions were small and the least expensive wine on the list was $60. Food was average. Expected more."

  • "generally a great place to go, but perhaps too crowded during restaurant week. soup cold, pork entrée so tough we sent back. would recommend but not during Resturant Week"

  • "We visited during Restaurant Week. The limited menu didn't appeal to us and the regular menu was unavailable. For the fixed price of $30, we didn't find much value. Also, we felt very rushed, even though there were empty tables. Probably won't go back."

  • "Loved the pretty and authentic Italian feeling from the restaurant, furniture, exposed brick walls, gorgeous entry. Oozes atmosphere. Well rounded, original menu. Looked forward to seeing what each new dish would bring. Delicious. Wonderful waitress, not afraid to guide our menu choices, thorough, friendly. Will return as well as recommend to friends. Grew up near this area and it is fun and refreshing to discover this part of Denver in a new light."

  • "Our dining experience was excellent. Our server Anna Marie was fantastic, friendly, informative and so pleasant. The food was fabulous, as usual. Normally we come to the Community Dinners which are great fun but this was just as fun. We have Italian family who are very discerning about the food and they love Firenze. As I marked, the noise level is energetic. When we come to the Comunity Dinners it is somewhat difficult to talk to the other guests because of the noise level. This will not deter us from attending them in the future."

  • "Website for restaurant week listed many more options than actual menu. Delicious food but not much at all for the $30 charge. It felt like they were going thru the motions in their offers, cutting corners with portion sizes and not taking the time to explain extra charges or offering coffee with dessert. It felt like they wanted you out so another table would be free. Great server, felt like the wait staff was short that evening too."

  • "When we want to celebrate we go to Firenze a Tavola. It has been our go-to spot for impressing friends, enjoying great food and relaxing in a cozy environment. It really does remind us of trips to Italy and the fine dining we had there. Wonderful selections were offered for Restaurant Week and the servers kept up with the hectic pace in a calm, friendly manner. We felt cared for and attended to in spite of the restaurant being totally full all night long. Still the favorite spot for us."

  • "I went to Firenze a Tavola for the first time last year (after living in Italy for 6 months) and loved the food! The pasta with cingiale (wild boar) was great and so were some of the antipasti. The wine list is extensive with many great Italian options. The owners and most of the staff were incredibly friendly and fun to speak with in Italian. However, I went back this year for restaurant week, and I was disappointed. Our first course came out ice cold, which is most likely a service error because our waitress took so long to bring it out. The entrees were good, but not great. The dessert--vanilla gelato with strawberries and balsamic was the best part of the meal--so good!"

  • "We picked out this little gem for Denver Restaurant week. I always feel the best and most authentic Italian places are the ones where the staff is speaking Italian to the customers (and they are speaking it back!). Everyone in my party had something different off the menu and they were all delicious (pasta, steak, fish, ravioli). Upon leaving, one of us remarked that we felt Firenze tried to show diners their best for Denver Restaurant Week and they succeeded! I highly recommend this restaurant. We would have never found it without DRW, but we'll make more of an effort in the future!"

  • "My wife and I decided to try it out during Denver Restaurant Week. We were not disappointed. It was price fixed menu with very interesting choices. Food was very tasty, wine selection excellent and the service extremely good. Will definitly go back to experience their full menu."

  • "Great presentation, great ambience and the food, how small the portions, was very good. A little lack luster in value. Would like to go back when it's not Restaurant Week which has become and excuse to overcharge. Since when does an Italian Restaurant not include bread at the table."

  • "We live in South Denver and tried this restaurant out for Restaurant Week and were so satisfied! The ambience was cozy and warm.. We were there with another couple and so enjoyed the food and service. It was a great place to meet and worth the drive!"

  • "Went here for the first time for restaurant week. Menu seemed interesting but food was brought out incomplete (carpaccio) warm, over done and poorly constructed. Bistecca Piedmontese con funghi sounds great but was overdone, dry, tough, sauce was seemingly out of the bottle, salty, mushrooms almost nonexistent, and kale, was soggy, bitter, w/ a hint of a burnt taste. They certainly up sold their wine by the bottle and trooped people through at a fast clip. Filetto all’Isola d’Elba was interesting but fried (sautéed?) & lightly battered? Tiramisu was tasty & decent, but that positive was tempered w/ absolutely the worst decaf coffee on the planet. Really?! With so many choices out there, I'd just keep moving on down the street."

  • "The food was delicious, the wine was great, but our service was the best! Georgio was our server and he was so friendly and accommodating. He had very good knowledge of the wine and food and helped us chose the perfect dishes. I recommend the gnocchi with rabbit ragu!"

  • "In a nut shell, Everything was GREAT except for the noise level. It's noisy because of the non-acoustic floor, ceiling, walls & tables. it is truly fine Tuscon dining from a great guy that was born and raised in Italy."

  • "It was our first time at Firenze, (a friend from California told us to go here). We went the day after Valentine's Day. We were sat immediately and our waitress was Ann Marie. Everything went perfectly. Ann Marie brought Georgio over to help us pick our wine and the fun started. Great service, excellent food, wonderful atmosphere. Ann Marie checked on us but, didn't hover. She timed serving the food perfectly, which each dish was a melt in your mouth Italian work of art. Georgio came back to check on us and how we liked the wine, and with great Italian flair too!!! And the owner, also checked on us to see if we liked the wine and food. He had just purchased several cases of this wine and wanted our opinion.............it was excellent!!!!"

  • "Loved the atmosphere - great waiter (Ken) - very personable. The only reason I gave the Food a Fair mark is because of one dish 3 people in our group of seven had. It was the Prawn Dish with Risotto and shaved artichoke. The artichoke leaves were mixed into the risotto and they left the whole leaf so very tough and unable to chew or swallow - you had to pick them out of your mouth - also the pointed end was still on the leaves so uncomfortable in your mouth. The prawns tasted wonderful and the risotto was good; however, I did not feel like picking all the artichoke leaves out of the risotto so felt I did not get a complete meal. Everyone else said their meal was very good. Wine selection is very good."

  • "My family celebrated my daughter's birthday recently at Firenze a Tavola. We enjoyed delicious food, great wine and a spacious and comfortable table. The exposed brick and Italian decor feels authentic and for awhile, we were back in Italy. The service was impeccable....our server, Georgio, was delightful. He advised, entertained and made sure our experience was unforgettable. He brought us a "birthday" dessert that was gorgeous - enough for us all and an opportunity to taste the many wonderful Italian specialties. We had been to this restaurant previously and enjoyed it as well....consistent with very high standards."

  • "We ordered within 10 minutes of being seated. We ordered 2 appetizer, 2 salads and 2 main dishes. We received the salad first which we thought was a little odd but fine. It was very drawn out and we didn't receive our entrées until 1hr 20mins after sitting down. One entrée's flavor was good but we found 2 large bone pieces (golf tee side). The other entree lacked any flavor. It wasn't seasoned at all. So we waited a long time for that encore that was completely unappealing. Then 4 different people came by to apologize, but I was left sitting with the entree on the table the entire time my fiancee was eating...even though I alerted the server soon after receiving it. Just a very odd and unpleasant experience that took way too long."

  • "We love this little tasty Italian restaurant situation in the Highlands Neighborhood in Denver. The mozzarella appetizer was delightful, a nice rich meat sauce, roasted chicken and a 1/2 bottle of Brunello. A great night's meal. We will return"

  • "For a meal that ended up costing 120$ for 2 people (with a bottle of wine) I was expecting something alot more fantastic. Instead of getting a house red blend, the waiter simply brought over the same bottle for us as the one ordered by our neighboors. The food was very mediocre, the pasta was extremely bland specifically. I live very close, but sadly can not recommend it to anyone."

  • "We ate here on NYE 2013. The restaurant prepared a specific 5-course menu. And though it was $70 per person (food only), the dishes were excellent and thoughtful. We arrived 30 minutes earlier than our reservation but were still seated promptly and with a nice window view. The only letdown was our server. He seemed completely unaware of their cocktail offerings (there was no list on the menu) and didn't seem to know much on the wines either. For paying as much as we did, I would expect more. However, the courses were promptly served. I will visit again and simply hope for a more knowledgeable server."
