Firecreek Restaurant & Bar - DowningtownFun Grown Up Birthday SpotWe took a friend who had never been at Firecreek to celebrate her birthday.
She chose the salmon and loved the crisp outer crust and tender inside with a pleasant fennel salad.
The ambience of the old mill was enjoyable - we would have really liked a write up about the history of the mill to read while we waited for our meal.
The waitress was energetic and attentive. Having several waitstaff come by at various times was a bit confusing, but not a major distraction.
One of us needs to eat gluten free meals, and there was helpful responses to questions for clarification which was helpful.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMBrunchJust did the Mother's Day brunch and it was very good. The one huge draw back to Firecreek is the noise level. With the dining area half full you can't hear people at your table unless they shout which diminishes the dining experience. Other than that, the food is very good, and the service is outstanding even for a brunch. Our server was attentive and responsive. Couldn't ask for more.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMorgan our waitress made forMorgan our waitress made for a enjoyable evening, and she served the bananas foster with a fiery flair5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial occasion treatThis restaurant was a treat for us. The service was excellent but not pretentious. The interior is a tastefully renovated mill. On the night we visited, some patrons were dining outside on the patio. Two of us shared bruschetta that was tasty but a bit heavy-handed with the balsmatic vinegrette. The others at our table raved about the duck tacos. Our steaks and seafood were expertly prepared. The wine list is extensive.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMDowningtown gemNever had a bad meal or service at Fire Creek. I can't wait to eat outside when it gets a bit warmer!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place. The food was excellent all around and presentation beautiful! They have a lovely outdoor seating area which we always love in the warmer months. Waitstaff was friendly, informative, and attentive.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMI was looking for a romanticI was looking for a romantic place to celebrate my Anniversary and I definitely found it. Our candlelight dinner with soulful jazz music playing in the background really set the mood. The Beet trio spinach salad w/ candied walnuts was a good start to the meal. My entree bistro steak, steak fries & mixed vegetables was a pleasure to my taste buds.
The only real negative thing i would have to say about the restaurant is the seating. Instead of a nice seat w/ a back I had to sit on a long couch like seat which killed my back because every time i wanted to speak to my wife or eat I had to lean forward. Overall i would def recommend this restaurant to others. Go on a Thurs because every Thurs they have live jazz music.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways enjoyable. The dinnerAlways enjoyable. The dinner menu has an option for every taste. The bananas foster table side was awesome! What an experience.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth a visit!Lovely place, very good food, outstanding service, and goo location with adequate parking.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMNice place for private celebrationsThe food and service were wonderful. Friendly atmosphere - a great place to go with friends.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistantly great food.Consistantly great food. There isn't a bad choice on the menu! Although Fire Creek is more expensive than other restaurants, you get what you pay for. In this case, high quality, great food.
Fire Creek also has a great Gluten Free menu. Items are clearly marked with a GF.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went on Easter for dinnerWe went on Easter for dinner because it was my wife's birthday and the place was empty which was very nice for us. When we drive by it is typically very crowded and appears noisy. I think it is a "hot spot" in the area for people in their late 20's to mid 40's. It was expensive for a full meal and wine so if you are short on coin you may want to check the prices before taking a date or dining with family there. Our waiter was exceptional and we had a good time.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was a pleasant surprise. It was a pleasant surprise. We are not from the area and took a chance from seeing the website. Everything was great.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a excellent waiterWe had a excellent waiter named Michael Henry he and the staff made my husband and I feel so wonderful. This was our very first Wedding Anniversary and we had a blast. Hope to return again for another very special event.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMYes Downingtown, they've heardYes Downingtown, they've heard your cry. This is the best model for a successful restaurant. The menu has been reworked and the service has improved by leaps and bounds! If you had a bad service experience, if you thought the food was over complicated.....try this again. I can't wait to sit by the Brandywine River when the weather warms!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service - Dan - andGreat service - Dan - and delicious dinners in a unique setting; clearly the best restaurant in the Downingtown - Exton area.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWe really enjoy Firecreek,We really enjoy Firecreek, and have never been disappointed with their food. My 6 y/o son has proclaimed their homemade Macaroni and Cheese as "the best." My husband thoroughly enjoyed the seafood special and my 4 y/o daughter and I loved the scallop entree that we shared.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGood Eating in DowningtownWe love coming to Fire Creek. The food is always wonderful and the service is very good as well. The only down side is that it is extremely noisy especially in the main dining area. It doesn't appear to be as noisy in the dining room with the fireplace, but is still noisy when it is full. I know with all the hard surfaces and open ceiling there is nothing to soak up the noise, so it is what it is. We try if possible to avoid going on weekends due to the noise and will try to go on a week night if that works for everyone.3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMI am always impressed by theI am always impressed by the food at Firecreek, however there wine list has much to be desired.3/1/2013 12:00:00 AMFirecreek put on an amazingFirecreek put on an amazing Valentine's Day special. The chef is an incredibly imaginative genius. Everything was prepared to perfection. We love the atmosphere of Firecreek; it is a very nice atmosphere (above the casual dining of chain restaurants), but not stuffy and too formal. The menu gets better and better every time we go!2/14/2013 12:00:00 AMI have been to Firecreek manyI have been to Firecreek many times and have always enjoyed my visit.2/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
