A word from Firebrew
FIREBREW is the creation of Dean and Sue Gonsior. In 2001, the Gonsiors opened the first Tropical Smoothie Cafe in Virginia and just nine years and 38 units later, they expanded TSC from an unknown concept to household name throughout Hampton Roads. Our concept's name represents two of our three main attributes: cooking with open flame (FIRE) and full service bar with several local and regional microbrews on draft (BREW). The third focal point of the restaurant is its exclusive 24 bottle self-serve wine station, where guests can select and pour their own wine in three different pour sizes; 1 oz (taste), 2.5 ozs. (half glass), and 5 ozs. (full glass). FIREBREW's simple yet highly desirable and affordable menu allows guests to return often without feeling like they emptied their wallet.

As always Firebrew did an outstanding job. The black and blue burger and the pizza are outstanding. We had a party of six and never felt rushed to leave even though we sat there having a drink for about an hour or so after dinner. Thanks again for an enjoyable evening. Neil

This place has carved out a welcome niche with its simple yet elegant fare. I went during restaurant week but ordered off the menu. All the food I had...except the pineapple sherbet ... was extraordinary and fresh (the sherbet was homemade but didnt have much flavor- the raspberry was great!) My wife and and I have dined arlund the world and the food here was in the upper tier. They have a wine and beer bar al la carte that rounds out the great menu. We will be back.

We went to Firebrew for VA Beach restaurant week. We really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Excellent deal for $20. I had the salmon, which was excellent. My wife had the chicken and she enjoyed it very much. We plan to go there again, even though its a bit far from our home in Chesapeake. It is worth it. Next time we will try the wine bar!

Food was excellent as always. Our server seemed more interested in the table of 6 beside us that she knew than the other tables she was assigned. We never got a refil on our drinks even though they were empty for five minutes and our waitress only checked on us during our meal when it was time for the check. Disappointing service as it had not happened in the past.

My girlfriend and I try to have 'date nights' every now and again, and like to pick somewhat unique places. I wanted to try here for the wine/beer station and the self serve. I was disappointed that all it means is you serve yourself, and that the sampling only applies to the wines. There is no real benefit other than you can maybe get a refill if it is busy and the waiter/waitress isn't tending to you. But, on that note, we received outstanding service even for a Friday night, and I barely had a chance to finish my drink before a refill was offered. Food was delicious cooked on the fire. We will return. Atmosphere is casual. Would be a nice setting for a small to medium group.

firebrew is an average restaurant. a good neighborhood restaurant to frequent if you live in the area. nothing outstanding or special about the menu or service. self-service wine and beer bars sounded fun and created, especially if you want to taste different libations. however, the self-service is actually a way for the restaurant to perfectly control the amount of wine (and beer) served.

Food is quite good. They were fairly full. We ended up waiting 15 to 20 minutes for a table past our reservation time.... Probably would not recommend going on a busy dining night. Middle of the week good pick. Would not recommend sitting next to the kitchen. Much more background noise. Front of restaurant much quieter. Harder to have conversation due to noise. Service was slow due to overall volume, but usually they are very prompt.

This place was a ton of fun. They have serve yourself wine and beer. They give you a card and you give yourself as much as you want. At the end of the meal they just add how much you drank to your bill. The margherita pizza was awesome. the rest of the menu is a little confusing. I think it lacks a theme for the food. It seems like it should be Italian but they have some Asian and Carribean stuff. All in all, I loved it though.

We had the Beggar's Purse Ala Vodka and the Surf and Turf (daily special), both were outstanding! However, they did run out of the specials early in the evening. While my husband enjoyed sampling the beer bar; I prefer a glass of wine off of their wine list. The service is timely, very friendly, and accommodating.
