Red hot... just like the name, fire was smoking from the start. Owner-chef Douglas Katz hit a bull's-eye with this trendy American bistro. There are no gimmicks here.   • "For the first time in many years, I was disappointed in the service. Although we eat there regularly and know many of the wait staff, there wasn't a single one we recognized. Our server was not attentive (we had to ask for someone to find her several times) and she seemed distracted & was abrupt with us. It was busy but not crazy- I've seen it much busier. I think the kitchen was missing Doug's guidance, too (I think he was on vacation, undoubtably well earned!)."

  • "Menu advertised several items (fish, steak, pork chops) as"tandoor" suggesting an Indian inspired entree. My tandoor ribeye had none of that and there were grill marks on it on both sides indicating it likely never saw the inside of a tandoor oven. Maybe they should explain this in their menu. My wife got Peruvian chicken thighs and was singularly unimpressed. I liked my steak but at $36 there was more fat trimmings than meat."

  • "Dined at "fire" at our son and daughter-in-law's request on a recent visit - they felt the selections were "different". Ate outside on a beautiful evening - great asset; service was attentive w/o being bothersome. But food, although nice, was not remarkable. Not everything cooked in a Tandoor comes out looking so good, as evidenced by the whole Branzino, scorched at gills and tail, but otherwise perfectly cooked. Mushroom pasta was tasty, but somewhat muddled, could use a side to break up the monotony. Salads were interesting but over-dressed. Cheese board was too much for 2, not enough for 4 - other options would be good. So the food was nice, yet not stellar - maybe an off night; but there was good service and it was outdoors, yea!!"

  • "Busy Saturday night, to be expected, but wait time and service time just a bit over the acceptable without any apologies or recognition from Hostess/Management. Waitress was kind (when we saw her-lol)... and reminded us it was well worth the wait! ....We were in an extremely loud room; outside dining much different experience than indoor. Because we were in a back room, it seemed as if servers forgotten about us more than once throughout the evening-yet still worth it. Book an early reservation for best service acceptable wait time."

  • "Three generations dined on Shaker Square on a Sunday eve. Free valet parking was prompt, as was seating. Excellent drinks and a diverse menu with a tandoor emphasis. Thw whole fish and duck were particularly nice. Lots of fashionable dress modes passing by"

  • "No matter how often we go to Fire - whether for a casual brunch, dinner, or special occasion - we can always count on fabulous food, served by fabulous servers! Chef Cameron and the entire kitchen team are nothing less than stellar. Servers are knowledgeable about the menu items, and carry a professional but also friendly demeanor. This time we were there for brunch and started with Crispy Chicken Livers which is, hands down, my favorite dish on any menu at any Cleveland restaurant! For our main course my husband had the Almond Stuffed French Toast, a side plate of seasonal fruits, and I had the Duck Confit. Outstanding. ALL OF IT. There is not one thing I can think of to complain about. Highest recommendations for Fire, as always!"

  • "Right from the start I knew we would like Fire. Well met by staff, and shown to our table right away. Greeted by our server, Christine, who was probably one of the best servers I've ever encounter. She made dinner fun! I can't say enough about the food. I had the bison meatball appetizer followed by the Duck Confit; straight up one of the best I've had! This was a great evening and thoroughly enjoyed by all of our party. If I have one criticism it would be about the restrooms: I can't speak for the Women's room, but the Men's is too small for the size of the building & number of patrons, and quite honestly, it was a mess. Toilet paper all over the floor in the stall, water, or liquid of unknown type all over the floor. Better attend needed."

Chicken marginal my husbands Fish was not de-boned (a service they are supposed to offer you) and quite the chore. Our waitress was so spaced out like her brain was else where. We had to beg for drink refills, waited forever between courses. The tables were like sardines. The manager on duty is clueless and has Zero people skills! We tried to explain all that we endured to only get a blank stare. He claimed they share tables. We kept begging the other servers for all our needs we were IGNORED! If you spend two hundred bucks for dinner. Then you take care of us we should not half to ask everyone else for service. It was a horrible experience! They do NOT Care!"

  • "Doug Katz continues to impress. The menu and food quality and preparations are just wonderful. The Pollack is worth a try for anyone who loves a perfectly prepared light fish. Chicken livers are a local favorite. Deserts are creative and first rate enjoyment. Service was a bit slow and cumbersome. Attentiveness upon arrival is critical for the dining experience and waiting on, means just that. A more responsive and attentive waiter would have added to the enjoyment."

  • "My wife and i went for dinner. She ordered the duck. It was not very good. The dish over all was just dry. I ordered the sirloin steak and it was very good. This was our first time here so we have a mixed first impression. It was very crowded(tables smashed together) and very loud. I would like to give it another shot in the future."

  • "Dined there the day before Memorial Day . They must have gotten crushed earlier. We decided to sit at the bar. Bad choice. Took 15 minutes before anyone even greeted us. The back of the bar was a disheveled mess. Once our waiter got to us we ordered cocktails and appetizers first. Another 15 - 20 minutes for our cocktails to arrive. Wife got the mushroom pizza - was real good. I got the Bison Meatballs and to make a long story short they were, tepid, dry, well flavored with a wonderful harisa sauce and wonderful feta. The lola rosa salad was was ok but nothing to write home about. For entrees we had the swordfish- Delightful but must have been a child's portion. This was my second a average meal here. The first time was outstanding."
