Diner Reviews
  • "This was our second dinner here. The bar scene was hopping and vibrant. The 'pub' portion of the menu looked good and my wife chose much more wisely than I by having a salad and wrap but I was in the mood for a good steak and chose the bone in cowboy - big mistake - way over cooked and not a choice cut. On the plus side, the drinks were great and the service really friendly and attentive. We'll go back, but just tamp down our culinary expectations!"

  • "Decided to try this place out, being that it was close and a few of my friends had been and had been complimentary of the restaurant. Right off the bat we noticed how loud the place was, it was impossible to have a conversation at a normal volume, it felt like every other patron was yelling. Not sure if this was because it was later on a Saturday night, or what, but it made conversation a hassle. We ordered the bbq chicken lollipop appetizer, which was essentially chicken wings drumsticks shaved down so that the bone stuck out for easier handling, they were good, of unremarkable. I ordered the rib eye with the loaded baked potato as a side. I asked for medium well, it came out charred, salty potato. Probably won't be back."

  • "Yes, it is my favorite restaurant. Everything is great here. Every time we go we have a great time!!!"

  • "Food is just great. Fish, steak, sushi, etc. I find it hard to justify going elsewhere."

  • "Overall we had a good meal and a great time. The only complaint was that we never received our appetizer. The waiter was more than apologetic and offered us a free coffee. He should have also offered us free dessert. Anyway, we will try it again."
    Dined on 3/21/2014
  • "Although the service was good... Eh, now that you add 20% to the bill for tip, I'll eat elsewhere."

  • "Food was ok. Over priced. Very loud! Rude waitress. Gratuity included, so not super attentive. My son didn't like his meal (it really was awful, grouper) and at end of our meal, at least 25 minutes after being served, our waitress finally came back and told him he should have said something and she would have replaced it. He is 12, and she made him very uncomfortable by saying HE should have done something. Not impressive! Would not go back."

  • "I typically have terrible experiences at restaurants, but not this time! .. Waiter was on his game, food was first class, decor was brilliant. You get what you pay for."

  • "This is a great neighborhood restaurant, good food and drinks and nice selection of wine. If you are OK with the bar scene , noise level and shouting during your dinner conversation, then you will enjoy this place"

  • "I came with my wife looking for a quiet relaxing Saturday dinner. We were seated right away and given menus we then ordered drinks(beer and Wine) and soup and the main course. The drinks came right out the wine was ok the beer on the menu said 12 ozs. it came in a 10 oz. glass filled 1 inch from top no head. As soon as I put my spoon down from my soup the wait staff told me I was finished and handed me my dinner. After we asked for the check I guess one of the managers came over to say it was her fault and offered coffee or an after dinner drink I don't think so. The noise level was also this side of a rock concert, the young lady next to us was yelling to her boy friend to be heard."

  • "We have been here before, and made a reservation in advance to follow a special occasion in the afternoon. Unfortunately the afternoon event we were attending (a concert that my daughter was performing in) had its start time was delayed over an hour. The Host at Fire & Oak was very accomodating, pushing our reservation back twice for us, with us getting there at 7:45, right at a peak time for them; we were still seated immediately and had great service from our service team of Patrick and Steve. The food is creative, with generous portions for the entrees, all five in our party enjoyed all three courses of their meals, the larger dining room where we were seated can be loud as there were a number of large groups seated in the room."

  • "Starting with cocktails at the bar, to a delicious sushi appetizer to a fantastic Prime Rib - my experience was outstanding. Unfortunately there was no room for dessert, so I can't comment on that at this time. The service was wonderful - very personable wait staff. A little pricey, but you get what you pay for - delicious. I would highly recommend Fire & Oak. Looking forward to going back there soon!"

  • "the meal was great, it was a 3 course valentines dinner with my girlfriend. We ordered a few glasses of wine, an appetizer each, main courses, and dessert. They even brought over two chocolate covered strawberries as a pre-dessert treat. Overall the meal was nice, the staff was friendly, but when the bill came :( We easily spent over $250 on about an hour and a half in the restaurant. I would go back, but on a regular night for dinner and make sure its somewhat of a special occasion."

  • "The place was very energetic. Just what we wanted for a Saturday night dinner. I had the Sushi and Raw fish sampler. Wonderful very fresh. My husband had the Cowboy steak and loaded baked potato. He loved it. But our waiter made the night...He was not only helpful but attentive and upbeat and made it special."

  • "Went to Fire and Oak for a business lunch. The front room where we were seated was extremely loud. Service was very slow. The carrot ginger soup turned out to be a cream soup - the waiter never mentioned that. Ahi tuna flatbread was perfect as usual, and my fellow diners enjoyed their Fire and Oak burger and pasta with chicken entrees. This is a hidden go to moderate restaurant that is a nice change from the usual neighborhood places. I will probably stick to dinner (in the back room) in the future."

  • "Tight seating, spent most of the evening enjoying our neighbors' conversations. Grouper was bland- like drinking room temperature tap water, sauce that was on it tasted like household cleaner so I avoided it. For most of the night our glasses were empty. Watched our waitress eating food in the kitchen as we waited for service. Quite the shame, the design of the place is great.. $110 for 2 dinners, bottle of wine, one dessert."

  • "We had the seafood salad with crab and shrimp. It was large and filling with two shrimp, wish there would have been three. The restaurant got rather crowded with lunch time diners and our waiter and another waiter stopped by our table frequently to see if we needed anything. A sign of a good wait staff."

  • "Great spot to celebrate a birthday. Loved the decor and the food. Our server was great and that added to enjoying the night. Our table was ready when we arrived, and my requests for specific seating were adhered to. I will go back to Fire and Oak!"

  • "It could be a good spot but there are some glaring problems. The balcony dining (on the left as you walk in) set the right ambiance with candles etc but was extremely loud due to the open floor plan and the proximity to the bar area. While perfect for a romantic meal--the screaming over the noise ruined that. The service was excellent-- attentive , polite, helpful- perfect. The food was shakey. I liked the fillet mignon quesadilla- quite tasty. The seafood risotto was a train wreck . Starting with the improperly cooked scallops to the hard and crunchy risotto . So disappointing. My date got the veal Milanese which she picked at but she did seem to enjoy the sautéed spinach. Just far too pricey for this level of quality."

  • "Fire and Oak just never disappoints. We started going there a few months ago because we wanted to avoid the highways during the holiday shopping season. We will now be there year round. The menu is simply fun. From sushi to steak to seafood they seem to master it all. The service is impeccable. Josh, the manager, often greets and is quick to accomodate any seating preferences. The waiters and waitresses are everywhere and make sure your water and soda is refilled before it is finished. Christmas eve, we had Patrick and he was wonderful. You can tell the employees are treated well as it reflects in their attiude. I am hard pressed to find anything I don't like about this restaurant. A gem not to be overlooked."

  • "We arrived around 6 and the room was pretty empty but filled quickly. Seating was comfortable for everyone. Filet mignon was the best I've had in years, the 7 spiced seared ahi tuna was also terrific. The other dishes; Sushi, the Kobe burger, and the Jumbo lump crab cakes were also very much enjoyed by our company. Service was timed perfectly with a touch of personality which is lacking in most other restaurants. Desserts were well proportioned, more than enough for one but shy of being enough for two. The apple dessert was the best of the lineup. A bit pricey, but we agreed that we'd definitely like to return."

  • "Fire & Oak was absolutely delicious! A gem in the midst of a hotel and down the road from shopping. The food was excellent! The waitress knowledgeable, curtious and friendly. The Maître dee, Patrick, was welcoming, informative and very sweet! We will definitely return, and recommend this fine restaurant!"

  • "Our waiter, Ray, was oh so formal. He appeared very proper with the "may I", etc. He ruined it though when he proceeded to "May I take this?" from those who had finished lunch BEFORE everyone else was done. That was disappointing and rude. The food-we ordered the fried calamari and artichoke appy and the hot spinach dip. The latter was ok. The artichokes were quite good although few and the calamari were the chewiest rubber I've ever sampled. Awful. Some of us ordered the soup special and it was lukewarm at best (worst). On the plus side, our entrees were great, especially the filet mignon sandwich. The meat was so tender and the parmesan truffle fries were another hit. Our vegetarian colleague loved the flatbread."

  • "Beautiful setting and great ambience. In addition the server was great . His name was Lee. We had an awesome raw bar sampler and it was outstanding. It was so fresh and a great portion for two. Our entrees were crab encrusted grouper was simply outstanding and seafood risotto also done superbly. Great carrot cake for desert and two bottles of Albariño from Galicia, Spain. What a night. !"

  • "We were at Fire and Oak several nights in a row. We hadn't gone often because it is in our neighborhood and we like to venture out. This is my second review because I need to reiterate how great this restaurant is. Christian, our waiter, was amazing. The bread, salads and main courses were perfection. The portions are extremely generous. A Sunday night was busy but very quiet since there was little bar scene. All in all, tops on every level. Don't miss out."

  • "From the minute you walk into this restaurant you know that it's a go. The hostesses greet everyone with charm even though the restaurant may be busy. Notably, jessica, alison, raquel and kelly. We sit in the front room which is actually quieter than the back. We request this on open table. The food and service never disappoint. Joanne and Gerald are excellent. We have eaten the sushi, fish and veal. Next we will try the steak which gets raves from friends. This restaurant is a true neighborhood gem, especially on a weekend when the traffic and crowds are tough. A five star plus on all levels"

  • "There were 4 of us for dinner. Had a reservation with Open Table. Seated us 20 min late. They sat us in the front dining room. Big mistake. by the time we ate, the bar scene had kicked in and we seriously had to yell at each other to hear. It was my first time there, so I didn't even know they had this huge glass enclosed dining room down the other hallway which would have been much better to sit in. So, now that you know where NOT to sit if you actually want to speak with the people you go to dinner with..... The service was very good and the food was excellent. Presentation of food is beautiful. Sushi was great, fried oysters yummy. Nice size portions for the salads. The seared tuna salad was so filling, I couldn't even finish it."

  • "The martinis we ordered were perfect. I have not tried all the appetizers but the If the Green Dragon roll is any indication the sushi is worth a try. Avg - above average was a whole lobster with a ginger sauce served with thin julienne potatoes. Disappointing experience with the 6-8oz swordfish. It was tasty but too small to satisfy so it was served with a massive amount of cubed sweet potatoes to fill you up with veggies. Dessert menu needs more choices with some light fares. Settled on the a la mode apple pie which was delish and enough for two."
