  • "Since I frequently dine out, there are several things that are not negotiable. Attention to the details. Quality of the food. Presentation of same I and atmosphere. While the location is hip, it lacks anything making it unique. The presentation of the food, while good Diner quality, didn't match it's PP (price point). Severing food at slightly above room temperature doesn't instill a sense of "cook to order" implications a restaurant offers. Servers, though pleasant, couldn't remember which side to serve from nor how to refill a water glass without significant body, facial and audible signal ques from my guests; ridiculous. Overall, I had a better experience at the worse Cheesecake Factory I visited recently."

  • "We were a group of seven, the restaurant was slow, and the waiter just could not get it right. Although there were specials he never offered them and two of the seven orders were wrong. Everyone has a bad day.... based on the simplicity of the orders coupled with the slow tempo this lunch was certainly disappointing on this day. In the past I have been there with groups of four or less and the experience was significantly better. I would suggest that if you have a larger group you may want to choose a different venue."

  • "The salad was excellent and showed attention instead of just mixing together ingredients. The calamari was cooked perfectly and melt in your mouth. The prime rib appeared to be seared on both side before serving, (to warm up?) and looked more like a steak. The fish on our fish sandwich was burnt and appeared to have been left on the grill too long or forgotten."

  • "I had lunch here a few days ago. The beet salad was excellent. I also had the sweet potatoe corn chowder and that was underwhelming. Sparse on the corn and was more brothy than what I typically like in a chowder. The chunks of sweet potatoe were very mushy. I wouldn't order it again. Over lunch the restaurant was loud. It was hard to talk with my client across the table. The service was pretty fast. You could definitely do lunch in 45 min - 1 hr."

  • "Awful experience. They were overbooked and we were seated over 20 minutes after the reservation was made because there were no tables. They had too many groups in the bar area and the noise level was unbearable. We ended up being seated near the bar -- it was noisy and cold as a side door kept opening and closing. There was not enough service. Overall it felt like a burger joint and not the finer restaurant I had recalled from the past. I'll never go back to this restaurant."

  • "I went to Fire & Oak for the first time during restaurant week January 2014. I have passed it numerous times on my way to my usual restaurants, but never noticed it.. mainly because it is in a hotel. But I can tell you, I was definitely missing out! From the app to the entree, and then the dessert, each course was absolutely delicious. Not only that, the service was amazing. From now on, Fire & Oak will be at the top of my list when I decide to get a meal in Newport."

  • "We were seated under a vent that blew very cold air over us. i asked 4 times if anything could be done about it; maybe turn the vent off or down. i feel like i was blown off by the waittress and nothing was done about it. it was New Years eve, so leaving and going to another restaurant was not an option, so we had to suffer. my wife ate dinner with her coat on."

  • "We went to Fire & Oak for New Years Eve dinner. They were obviously packed and squeezed our party of five into a slightly too small table--if it was any other night we would have complained. They had a special menu, which is annoying, but seems like every restaurant does that. Service was acceptable considering how mobbed they were. A little slow but we were in no rush. Our favorite part of the meal was the appetizers--oysters Rockefeller, sushi, and chicken wings were excellent. Steaks were quality--good flavor, cooked properly--nothing to complain about. Desserts were good--nothing special. Overall, Fire & Oak is what you'd expect - a higher-end chain restaurant that's good at everything but amazing in nothing."

  • "My wife and I went for our 1 year anniversary dinner (we are from Cleveland and stayed at the Candlewood and when I asked the front desk, they said Fire and Oak) and we could not have been happier with the selection. Amazing food choices, lots of options on the wine/beer menu and even my wife found an entree she absolutely loved. Prime rib was one of the best I have ever had and the loaded baked potato was just that, loaded and amazing. I was going to take a picture to show my friends but didn't want to seem out of place in such an amazing restaurant scene. Definitely would go back, if we are ever in the area again."

  • "Loved the Fire Pit outside waiting for group to arrive. Celebrated a special birthday. Waiter was attentive and helpful. The mixed grill special was excellent. Also the surf and turf was equally a good choice. I ordered BLT salad and was too a very generous portion. Could share it! The sweet potato corn chowder is a different twist and enjoyable. We had a variety of foods and everyone enjoyed their dinner. The Mac and Cheese got mixed reviews. The brownie dessert could also be shared- very generous portion. Our only complaint was that we were seated near an air vent and it was cold. Our waiter tried to get it adjusted but it took some time. He provided one dessert as a sorry. I would go back but be more aware of our seating."

  • "We found that the service was fabulous - the bartender we had while we waited for another couple couldn't have been better. Very attentive, friendly and fun. The dining room is a bit loud, I wouldn't call this an 'intimate' dining experience, but the food is delicious. The menu is just right - not too many items, but enough selections to saitsfy all tastes! When I read the restaurant was in the Westin hotel, I was excited thinking that we would have a fabulous view of the City; however, Fire and Oak is on the bottom floor - alas, no view!! We will go again, but not for those very 'special' occasions."

  • "The food selection was diverse and the quality exceptional. The service was attentive and helpful, but worth noting these are not highly trained wait staff. For a 3 course meal expect to spend $100 per person with drink, but worth the money if you are willing."
