Diner Reviews
  • "I went there for my friends birthday. Enjoyed a delicious meal. The wait staff was attentive. They have an enclosed patio section which makes you feel like you are in Italy. The overhead music is really nice. The only thing I wish they had there was, they did nothing special for my fiends birthday. They said if I bought a dessert they would put a candle in it, which did not make a lot of sense to me. People want to feel special on their birthday. Other than that it was a great night. Highly recommended."

  • "This is honestly one of the best restaurants in the city. The atmosphere is perfect, the food is amazing, and the owners are wonderful people. You will NOT be disappointed eating here. Best Italian food I've had."

  • "Wait staff was excellent and the food was great as well. We have dinned there in the past and love the black pasta with shrimp. It was excellent!! I highly recommend!"

  • "was great to revisit one of our favorite places with friends from out of town. One of friends is a chef and thoroughly enjoyed the meal and service, as did we all. our server was knowledgable, engaging and perfectly timed meal. Papparadelle was delish. So were the stuffed gnocchi. We'll definitely be back sooner rather than later. We've forgotten how wonderful it is and Frances' recipes are spot on!!"

  • "Very average - three of your dishes our server (who was a very good server, by the way) touted, were very, very average/bland (1) I forget the name - shrimp and pasta in a light sauce with garlic, (2) Crab cakesappetizer and lastly (3) Meatballs side dish. We returned this pasat weekend after an average experience three years ago, and were disappointed, again. Sorry, won't be coming back - too many choices in Chicago."

  • "We are a group of friend who dine out to catch up so we look for a place with good food and popular but no so popular we feel rushed because our table is needed. This was perfect. The food was great, the server was attentive but not overly so. He brought dishes we were sharing on individual plates to make it easier for us. We will be back!"

  • "We had the fixed price menu for restaurant week and it was delicious and a great bargain. We always ask ourselves, "Why don't we go to this restaurant more often?" The appetizer of a cannoli that was deconstructed was true brilliance."

  • "Not a great place to take a date and not worth the 24 dollars a plate. I would not recommend this place to anyone. They sat us in a heated outdoor area which was fine except for the dripping water and the dead leaves hanging above our table."

  • "Great menu, Good food, great service! We finally tried this restaurant after numerous recommendations it's a wonderful neighborhood find. I thought it would be difficult to find parking, but it wasn't. Although it's the middle of winter, I could see there was a wonderful outdoor dining room that will be beautiful in the warmer weather."

  • "We have been here a number of times before, so we knew it was good. We tried some of the new things on the Valentine's menu. I had lobster pasta pockets, very good. My husband had scallops which were very good, although he did not think the side was the proper choice with them. Caprese salad was wonderful, and they split it for us."

  • "Great selection and delicious Italian food. Was very surprised they didn't try to get us in and out (it was Valentines Day) instead we have a relaxing romantic dinner for two. This is a great spot, although up north in Lakeview it feels out of the hustle and bustle of a RiverNorth or Goldcoast restaurant."

  • "This place is known for their pasta. Do yourself a favor and stick with the pasta. The menu advertised beef medallions for a special Vday dinner. Because it was a nice occasion, we both ordered it. Nope. It was not what we were expecting at all. Please, stick with the pasta. It's an Italian joint, not a steakhouse. (I've been here many times before, and their pasta is amazing!) Aside from the food, the next "beef" I had with the night was the location. I was hoping to get seated in the room next door with the ivy and romantic feel. Nope, again. We instead got seated right smack in the middle of the main room in front of the door. And it was negative temperatures out. Every time that door opened, we wanted to put on our coats. Bad night."

  • "We live in the neighborhood and frequent Fiorentino's every couple of months. We recently dined here for my daughters 10th birthday (she loves their meatballs) and had, as usual, an excellent meal. I am on a restrictive diet and they accommodated my every request. I highly reccomend this neighborhood gem."

  • "I came here for Restaurant Week and also because a client's family restaurant. I felt extremely welcomed right when I walked into this warm and quaint place. John invited me to check out the patio and I thought he was crazy for even suggesting it! The patio was cozy and perfect for a night of catching up with one of my girlfriends. The Cab was delicious, I loved my Tilapia entree and stole some of my friends Portobello dish. Yum yum yum! I definitely recommend it."

  • "Great waiter..very accommodating. Chicken Vesuvio was very good but pork chops a little dry. Our dessert of exploded cannoli was one oft favorites"

  • "Even though it's on a main street, this gem of a restaurant had a feel of being tucked away from all the hustle. The mushroom ravioli was simply the best. Great romantic spot!!"

  • "The ownerers greet you as if you are coming into their home and make you comfortable, then feed you excellent housemade food. If you are nice they may tell you the recipes to their offerings."

  • "There's a nice outdoor area that is sealed and covered that adds to the ambiance. Went for a long dinner to catch up w another couple and was never rushed. Would recommend to others w free parking a avaliable near the Radio Shack."

  • "This place is my "go-to" place- I can always count on the food and service being great. I go there with friends, family and with business contacts and I can truly say that I have never had a negative experience."

  • "I go to Fiorentino's a lot, it may just be the restaurant I will always fall back to. I have always gone with a group of friends, or on a date, or with my family over there. I have had at least 1/2 of the stuff on the menu they serve, and I can't complain about anything. The food is great, the atmosphere is great, it is just one of those places you must try. I really recommend this place because it is very cost effect for the quality and quantity of food you get for your money. Fiorentino's may be a smaller place, but the best thing about it is that, it isn't a chain. Fiorentino's is a unique and comfortable place and I hope after reading this review, you may try it out."

  • "What a wonderful restaurant. I read a bunch of reviews. Some said good others said over priced. it's not a cheap restaurant but you get what you pay for. I had an outstanding Halibut entree for about $29 it was worth it! We will be back again for sure."

  • "My husband and I wanted to take our parents out to a nice Italian dinner downtown Chicago. After doing a lot of research on Yelp we chose Fiorentino's and are so happy we did! The food was excellent, service was great and the ambience was wonderful! I would absolutely come back again and would tell friends to try it out as well!"

  • "This was my second visit to the restaurant and our first experience was great. Just recently we stopped in on a Monday evening. The service was good, nice ambiance. However, the food was underwhelming as I expected more for what I was paying. I have been to numerous Italian restaurants where the food has been spectacular and less expensive. I have no problem paying for quality food and ingredients but not when it's subpar. For example, the calamari we ordered didn't seem fresh, as if it were prepackaged and thrown into a microwave to cook. The dishes were flavorful but nothing out of the ordinary."

  • "Great food and service. Couple of Italian dishes you may not find elsewhere. If cold and windy don't let them sit you by the door."

  • "We eat at a lot of Italian restaurants in all price catagories, but mostly in a moderate range and Fiorentino's just did not compare. The food was really just ok. I had mushroom ravioli in a brandy cream sauce. This dish was drownding in sauce and mushrooms. I love mushrooms, but it was just too much of one taste. Another dish that was ordered was the Bolognese and it fell flat. Not much flavor."

  • "The food was very tasty but the service was poor on a ver busy night. The folks next to us were done before we even received our meals and we were seated well before them. It was hard to get our servers attention throughout and the noise level was very high."

  • "A restaurant you'd expect to find in Lincoln Park. Nice to have a family owned place with great food, service and easy parking!"

  • "The staff was great. The place was packed and our reservation was delayed about 30 minutes as a result. The manager brought appetizers out for our group and was very apologetic. The extra wait was worth it. Our table server was a gem and attended to our every need. The food was everything we had hoped for!"

  • "Our experience was mixed. My husband liked his stuffed pork chop but I found my filet overcooked and somewhat dry and not tender, as a filet should be. Our server was not as attentive as we would have liked. He ordered us the wrong salad to start and was not very apologetic about the error. On the positive side, the veggies I ordered as a substitute for my potatoe, were excellent. So, not quite sure I would return to this spot as there are way too many excellent Italian spots to visit in the city."

  • "Been there several times before, but had been awhile. Added a few new items to the menu. Pork Chop was a nice addition. Sausage Risotto was tasty. Short-rib special was excellent. Additional seating outside in a climate controlled tent, nicely decorated for the season."

  • "First time here. The menu was extensive and the server knew all about each selection we questioned. Appetizers and entrees were all very good. This is the type of place you wish every neighborhood had. You can return many times and always select something different with confidence. We will be back soon."

  • "This restaurant is a wonderful little neighborhood find. Our son just moved to the neighborhood and we thought we'd try this restaurant as it appeared charming from across the street. The food was absolutely outstanding--very traditional Italian with home made pastas. We started with the Octopus and it was delicious! We took our son and two grandsons and we all had great meals. The only down side to the evening was very sketchy service. I wouldn't judge on that one visit as they were having problems with their phones and electronics which could have carried over to the service. This is a place we will go to again and again unless the service problem proves to be consistently bad. The inside is as charming as the outside."

  • "Finally made it INTO Fiorentinos after ogling it when passing by. The service was really good, with a very knowledgeable waitress regarding wine selection and entrees preparation. The grilled octopus app was outstanding, better than places in Greektown, and almost as good as the octopus at Taxim. The wines by the glass selection is very good and can give you the opportunity to try several if you wanted to - the price range is $7.50 to $11. We wanted to eat in the garden room, which was nice, but next time, we'll try the main dining room, as it was even nicer, classy, and more so romantic."

  • "I've driven past this restaurant countless times and ended up choosing it at the last minute as a place to eat before a play. What a pleasant surprise! Food was excellent and included more than one vegetarian dish. Authentic. We ate in the garden room, which is lovely. We definitely plan to return to this urban gem."

  • "We were first time diners. Loved the illusion of outside dining. Service was very friendly and helpful. Best chicken vesuvio I've had since Steffani's on Fullerton closed years ago. My wife loved the veal lemon and my son devoured the stuffed pork chop. We will definitely return. Suggest calling and getting instructions about free parking."
