Diner Reviews
  • "Earlier in the week we dined at Apocathery and the food was great. Fino was decent, we had the goat cheese, spanikopata, shrimp, mussels and a bottle of wine, but nothing memorable."

  • "Server was very accommodating of modification to dishes to make them vegan for me. Great food and great service on a perfect night to sit on their lovely outdoor patio on a romantic date night with my husband. This is why I love this place."

  • "Ambience was very nice and service was quite good. All the plates we ordered were interesting and tasty with the exception of the paella. I have had paella many times, including in Spain, and this recipe was quite different and we really didn't like it. Plus, it was much too salty. But, since everything else was so good, I wouldn't want to discourage others from going there and trying the other dishes."

  • "We have had 2 meals @ FINO; Dinner, and 2 wks later, brunch. First, both meals were excellent! The only downside was at the BRUNCH, our server, although helpful, did not exude much personality or enthusiasm, but was competent in her duties. The menu both times is along the lines of "TAPAS", and also other "small plates" and a limited selection of "entree" meals. The octopus/pork belly, superb, along with a spicy-humus. For brunch, I tried the pork, which is quite spicy, with a full egg on top, again very tasty. The peach tart for dessert is excellent, and also the rosemary-ice cream. If you want something "different" and on the adventurous side with your food, and like the fun of sharing/tasting DEFINITELY TRY FINO!"

  • "Had a great Father's Day brunch with the family on the outside patio. Service was great, drinks were really good, and food was relatively priced."

  • "There were seven in our party. The food presentation for each of us was gorgeous. Each item on the menu was unique and fully described. Everyone's food was delicious."

  • "Paella was great. The Rioja rose was a great match. "

  • "We had a very nice dinner at Fino two weeks ago. We enjoyed the quiet table outside with a nice breeze outside. Our meal started with hummus and the pork pinchitos tapas. Both were very good. We shared two additional small plates that were on the specialty menu. One was a shrimp special and the other was short ribs. They were the highlight for me. Great drinks on happy hour too. We will be back."

  • "We had a group of 7 for brunch. Service was great and food was greater. They even gave us their recipe for Sangria! "

  • "Really great food. The seafood and saffron paella was delicious, the mussels were the most tender and flavorful I have ever had and the corn mousse dessert was incredible. Loved the brussels sprouts too!"

  • "My wife and I have had several good experiences dining at Fino in the past, so we did not hesitate to book a table when our son came to town unexpectedly for the night. We split a paella for three people and had some other small plates, such as the grilled octopus and pork belly, for starters. The food was creative and excellent while the service was prompt and efficient. Our only regret is that we could not be seated outside on the patio on what turned out to be a lovely evening. We will happily return to Fino in the near future."

  • "We ordered tapas, small plates and the seafood paella for three people and were not disappointed. All of the food was great, especially the shrimp small plate. I've been to FINO before, but I hadn't had the paella. It was really delicious, and a great solution if someone in the group doesn't like to share food. "

  • "WE have been in Fino quite a few times but the menu is getting old. With new Spanish tapas restaurants in Austin there are more choices. We tried almost all the menu items....what is next?"

  • "Good food, conversation uninterrupted, and we could hear each other. It was the perfect spot."

  • "A late spring supper on the porch at Fino's is a delightful diversion, an excuse to ignore the ominous mid-afternoon signs that: summer is coming. The regular menu is always delicious, but the specials are outstanding. This meal started with a perfectly made house cocktail from the seasonal menu. The light rhum punch was cheerful, not overpowering. A simple, fresh, sweet artichoke with gremolata and browned butter was the tapa, followed by a small plate of snapper tartare that was inspired. The pristine flavors of fish, shellfish and sea vegetables with a froth of saffron sauce and chive buds were delicately, but unpretentiously, arranged. Vanilla yoghurt panna cotta was a sweet-tart finish. The staff at Fino's is outstanding. Thanks!"

  • "We had a great experience. I thought the "outdoor" setting was wonderful. Service was attentive and very helpful. I had the salmon (small plate). It had so many flavors and was perfectly cooked. Here is the case for less food but more taste. My partner had the divers scallops and was not as pleased but said it was still good. We had the trio for dessert, sorbet and two ice creams. Light, divine but not too much in quantity. It was a perfect ending. We will be back....we loved it. Jane"

  • "Delicious Food. The paella is a must try! Make sure to take advantage of their half off paella on Tuesdays! Overall, everything was fresh. Great, cute location"

  • "Came with my family to celebrate my birthday. Wanted outdoor dining without uncomfortable heat -- the breeze on the patio was perfect on a very warm evening. We tried 5-6 small plates and salads. The brussel sprouts were incredible, the pomegranate infused hummus was delightful, we "fought over" the blistered peppers! The family shared both styles of paella with high praise. I had the vegetable fideo which arrived in a skillet drizzled with a delicate sauce. I only regret we declined to sample the enticing desserts since my daughter made one for me. Sent from my iPhone"

  • "We chose FINO for Easter brunch. The menu was varied and creative. This was a group brunch and everyone loved their dish and appetizers. I had the waffle with fried quail and fired egg on top. I could have ordered two! And I was surprised at how tasty the anchovy stuffed olives were. The restaurant is fresh and open inside and has a very nice outdoor space as well. I used to eat at the location long ago when it was the Granite Cafe."

  • "Fino's has a good brunch! I loved the Shrimp and grits, the Frittata was a bit plain, the salmon and scrambled eggs were said to be good. The salmon is mixed into the eggs not separate as thought. If you are very hungry, order a side with your salmon and eggs or your frittata. We had Manchego biscuits and they were great."

  • "There were 7 of us at the table, 4 of us gluten-free diners. It was a rare treat to be able to order food for 7 and have everything on the table be gluten free. We could all share everything. Thank you, FINO. It's worth a trip to Austin to dine there."

  • "I love FINO and have had many excellent dinners there. However I was very disappointed in the offerings for lunch. The menu was sparse and there were very few options. Still had a lovely time; but we ended up drinking more than eating."

  • "FINO has excellent outdoor dining, service and the food was fantastic. A great wine & beer list to pair with the delicious food."

  • "When I was looking for a place to celebrate my birthday with a group of friends, I thought it would be the perfect choice. . Unfortunately, although the food was very good, the service was nothing to talk about. We went on a Monday night so it is not like they were 'in the weeds". From the bartender who served us a drink at the bar (we were the only ones there) to the waitress that took our order at the table, we were never engaged, no better ever wished me a Happy Birthday, basically for lack of better words, they were "just there". Although the food was great, most likely, I will not be returning as there are too many other options in Austin where you are greeted with a friendly face."

  • "We usually go to FINO for special occasions and always enjoy the great food and ambiance. This visit was great as usual. New menu items are a joy to experiment with and never disappoint. We have now decided this isn't just for special occasions - very reasonably priced and excellent all around"

  • "I've been before for the lunch menu and didn't love it, but their brunch was amazing! You can make reservations, which is a plus. My only disappointment was not being able to sit out on their gorgeous patio because it was cold outside."

  • "Our 15-year-old granddaughter chose Fino's for our brunch on Sunday. She made the reservation for her, her sister and us on OpenTAble. She particularly likes your steak and eggs dish. I suggested other places to go after church on Sunday, but she chose Fino's."

  • "When downtown is insane (ACL, SXSW, F1) I always take guests here. It's delicious, fun, easy to get to and easy to park."

  • "Their brunch is one of the best in town. It's a great location - easy to get to, easy to park, great decor - and the staff and the food are always outstanding."

  • "I went to this restaurant in a group of 6. Out of the 12 dishes we received, we disliked approximately 7. Also, our server bordered on contempt in his dealings with us. We were very polite to him, and were all baffled by his demeanor. Of all the positive food experiences in Austin, this was our only negative."

  • "Absolutely delicious tapas and small plates full of yummy flavors and farm to table tasty explosions in your mouth. When you're outside or inside you're surrounded by a beautiful environment, kind staff and a tranquil experience awaiting any special occasion. This was my first date with an amazing lady and I couldn't have picked a better place. :-)"

  • "We found the food over all to be very good. Service staff knew thier stuff and were prompt. Portions small. My salmon entre was about a 1 1/2 inch cube. Outside area with heaters a big plus."

  • "Poorly trained host and servers ruin an otherwise positive dining experience. Need to increase the staffing budget to attract some actual talent."

  • "A hostess called 2 days ahead of my Valentine's Day reservation and told me the restaurant required a credit card deposit of $50.00 and 24-hours cancellation notice. I thought this was rather rude and unnecessary. $50.00 is about twice as much as I would pay for a missed doctor appointment, and don't restaurants frequently get late requests for dinner reservations? I could understand requiring a 2 hour notice and a small deposit, but not this policy. In any case, nothing came up and we made it to dinner. The meal was very delicious and perfectly served. I especially liked the red pepper appetizer (muhumarra?), the chicken paella, and the galatibeureko dessert. 5 stars if the $50.00 reservation risk doesn't bother you."

  • "The wait staff was attentive with a positive attitude and the outdoor seating area was nicely organized with enough space between tables to give you privacy. It was a beautiful afternoon and the balcony a perfect place to be. The food, however, was fine. Nothing particularly great, all dishes a bit on the salty side. We were underwhelmed and we won't be going back."
