This was our 2nd Valentines dinner
at Finn & Porter. We ordered all 6 items from the Special Dinner menu. Sushi was the night's theme. The food was served promptly and was delicious! The meal was accompanied by a night's stay at the hotel. The relaxation of knowing we could eat and waddle upstairs back to our room helped. Over all, the night was wonderful thanks to great staff, managers and food!"

i came in with my wife to
celebrate valentines day. The restaurant was not busy at all, but they sat us at a 2-top right between two other couples. We thought maybe it would be really busy so we did not ask to be moved. A special menu was placed in front of us by the waitress who said 'welcome and happy…' and then cut off her greeting and turned away to take food from a 'runner' who was bringing food to the table next to us. When she finally came back, she straightforward (and without apologizing or welcoming us) asked us what we wanted to drink, and we asked for a wine menu. When she returned we politley asked if there was another menu available. She did not answer but left the table and returned somewhat annoyed with the regular menu."

My wife and I decided we would try
this restaurant after all the positive reviews. We wanted something off the beaten path and where the v day menu was simple enough. The restaurant was not crowded and we were greeted and seated upon entering. It took awhile for the server to come by and take our order and like I said before it wasn't crowded at all. The food was Good not great, it didn't give us that wow factor that we have to come back. The General manager was nice and talked to us. The free valet was a plus. Disappointed that they didn't have moscato on the menu, the champagne served left something to be desired. Maybe on another night the food could have been better but it definitely wasn't worth the 100 bucks we spent."

Went there to celebrate
Valentine's Day. We were seated but the couple who came after us were given service before we were.Although the waitress was apologetic, and the room manager tried to help, they were still slow bringing out our food. Also, the waitress did not check to see if we needed anything frequently throughout the evening. Part of my main course was missing an item as well. The best part of the evening, aside from spending it with my wife, was the dessert. Maybe a good choice on an evening when there isn't a special occasion."

I had high hopes for our dinner
but overall it was a disappointment. We were only given the valentines day menu and had to make 2 different requests to get the wine menu and the other available menu items. Then we were continually passed by every wait staff until we finally grabbed someone and made them take our order. It then took way too long to get our food but everything we got was great. They have a great menu but it feels like a hotel restaurant and it was the worst service I have had in a very long time. Too bad it was valentines day..."

It was my 85 year old mother's
birthday and we were all impressed upon entering the restaurant that a table was reserved and waiting for us in a semi-private room. The staff were very acccommodating and tried in everyway to may our lunch experience a memorable one---they certainly did a terrific job! I will return to this resaurant because the food was great --not greasy and perfect for those of us who prefer a healhy meal option. Thanks again for your help."

We went because the restaurant is
exactly two minutes from my apartment and didn't have time to make the trek to any of our fave brunch spots in DC. We found that the service was a little slow, but, we ordered from the menu and didn't get buffet. I think that threw them off a bit as they expect people to get the buffet and don't have enough servers. Our server did however stand out because when one of our orders was incorrect (one guest ordered her eggs poached hard and another asked for regular, both were brought hard) he removed it from the bill. All in all, good food as far as hotel restaurant brunches go in a nice setting."

It's a restaurant located in a
Hilton hotel frequented by Pentagon and military types so we weren't expecting gourmet food. We were glad to get the last reservation at 9:30pm on New Years Eve, and besides their running out of the chicken and sea bass, the service was great and we had a good dining experience. The next morning we came down for the breakfast brunch, and again as expected it was your average for a Hilton hotel. The price was great though and the exceptional service made up for the food."

We have eaten at Finn and Porter
on Thanksgiving and Christmas Days for the past 3 years and absolutely love going there. We live in Richmond VA, but my sister-in-law lives in Arlington. We visit her on those two special days and take her out to eat. We discovered Finn and Porter 3 years ago, and decided not to go anywhere else when we visit. The holiday buffets are fantastic; great selection of foods and desserts; great service; beautiful and very relaxing ambiance. Wish we could go more often for lunch or brunch on non-special occasions!"

This is my family's 3rd year
celebrating my Niece's birthday at Finn & Porter located at the Alexandria, VA. We've had a wonderful experience each time. Food, service & ambiance is outstanding. My server was even happy to help me take photographs which I'll cherish and add to my family album. Finn and Porter had decent food
but I was a bit put off by the service. I had Thanksgiving Day Brunch at the restaurant and found parking difficult. You have to valet your vehicle in order to park at the restaurant. Specific instructions left via Open Table were not followed and required some time to set up. The menu was decent, and the food was palatable. The amount of time from order to service left much to be desired."

I made a reservation here for my
birthday dinner. Wanted to try something new and nicer than average. This was new to me, but much cheesier than average. I felt like I was in a Howard Johnson's circa 1980. The menu looked decent, but the bright lighting, name tagged-servers and microwaved bread basket just killed it. We had a beer (horrible beer list on tap. Bad bottle list) and two bowls of soup, and left to find a better meal at one of our old standbys. The soup wasn't horrible, but tasted so much like the tomato soup at the Le Madalaine chain, that I wouldn't be surprised if it was. The waitress was fast, luckily, so we were able to get to Carlyle before too late."

Restaurant was fine. I thought it
was very casual. Parking is very expensive ($14 for 2 hrs!!) so make sure you take your parking stub in so the restaurant can alienate it for you. If it were not for that, I would not eat here. The parking can cost more than the meal!"

AMBIENCE GOOD BECAUSE LOCATED IN
THE HOTEL. DINNER AND BREAKFAST SERVICE ( AS WELL AS HOSTESS ) WAS OUTSTANDING!!! ....WOULD BE MORE ROMANTIC IF MORE COMFORTABLE TABLES FOR TWO, INSTEAD OF 4-6 GROUP SETTINGS WHICH GIVES OVERALL APPEARENCE OF CRAMPED AND SMALLER THAN YOU WOULD EXPECT. COUPLES NOT REALLY ABLE TO DINE INTIMATELY, ESPECIALLY IN HOTEL ENVIRONMENT. THOUGH ASKED, THE CHEF STILL OVERCOOKED THE SALMON. ANGUS STEAK WAS CUT AGAINST THE GRAIN & CHEWY. CHOC DESSERT GOOD, BUT WHIP CREAM SEAMED STORE BOUGHT & TASTELESS. BECAUSE IT IS IN THE HOTEL, I WOULD RETURN, BUT DEFIANTELY ONLY TO TRY SOMETHING ELSE."

Our server was very friendly and
attentive without being phony or overbearing. Our meals were cooked perfectly and were delicious. But there were a few other items that made the dining experience feel "off". First, the hostess was listless and unwelcoming; seemed robotic and on auto-pilot. Second, the menus were printed on limp sheets of copier paper that were dog-eared, torn and stained -- certainly not up to snuff. Lastly, the booth seats are very low and cushions so soft you sink into them leaving me with the table top at my chest level. Yes, the food and service are very important (and they get high marks), but these other details - especially the hostess' service and menus, need work and should be addressed."

I found Finn & Porter on Zagat.
Instead of going into DC again for a nice dinner, we wanted something in NOVA. I checked out the menu on line and was lured by the chicken and crab salad with beets (beets get me every time), and the fish options, so we gave it a try. The 3 cheese appetizer was fantastic and a VERY good amount for the price. I would go back and just order that with salads, or other apps. It was the best cheese sampler I've ever had. The chicken crab salad was really great and my husband has fish which was incredible. The atmosphere was very nice, save a screaming child who was in the entry way for about 15 minutes. Other than that, it was a really great night. I highly recommend it and we'll go back."

Finn & Porter is probably a
perfectly adequate restaurant for out-of-towners staying at the hotel without transportation available to take them somewhere else. For a dinner experience by itself, F & P was well below standard -- service was exceptionally slow, even though the restaurant was uncrowded with numerous vacant tables; had to flag down a server to ask for more water; 45 minutes from order to arrival of food. Portions were small and ungenerous. Quality was average at best. Definitely avoid this if you have the ability to get into Old-Town Alexandria or Arlington"

I took myself and my mother to
Finn and Porter for a Mother's Day Brunch. It was so amazing. I could not have asked for a better time. The staff was so helpful and attended to all our needs. I will be returning for sure."

I was disappointed with their
Mother's Day Brunch. I thought this would be elegant and on the level of a four star setting. It was one level above Golden Coral. There was no dress code established, kids were running around the place, and they had booths like a diner. The desserta were picked up from the local grocery frozen food session. If you want high class do not go, if you want affordable and nothing more then this is the place for you."
