  • "Finn and Porter is a good place to spend a nice upscale dining experience. It's ok though... there was nothing that particularly stood out about it. The food was pretty good but I found my portion size for the sea bass to be a tad small, even for sea bass dish which tend to be small. My wife had the pork chops.. it was pretty tasty and it was a decent portion, however, when compared to Perry's pork chop in town, they just don't quite achieve the same level. We didnt stay for dessert but we saw some tables had some come their way and it looked great."

  • "The food was sub par. The wait staff was ignoring us most of the night (we constantly were getting up to refill our own drinks). Then splitting the checks was a NIGHTMARE. We definitely won't be back."

  • "Sometimes hotel restaurants are just OK as they serve a captive clientele (hotel guests). Not so at Finn & Porter. The food at Finn & Porter was very good and the staff was amazing. The Chef came out to see if we enjoyed the food. In addition to great food, the Hilton downtown Austin is just one block off the famous sixth street night life. By eating at Finn & Porter the hotel valet parking is 1/2 price. Valet at the Hilton, eat at Finn & Porter, then walk to sixth street. This is a great way to have a high-end dinner and then have convenient access to Austin's clubs. "

So, the slow food service, good but not great food, combined with the hefty price tag put this restaurant on the do not recommend list."

  • "I went to Fin and Porter with 4 other family members for the first time. The food varied in quality but overall was disappointing and overpriced for what you receive. Two people had the sea bass which was good but the dish was small and lacking proper sides. The appetizers were good. Two people had wagyu ny strip which were cooked too order but was chewy and a huge disappointment I only ate half of mine even though I haven't had any food the whole day! One person had the Wagyu rib eye and it was excellent."

  • "Went to try the new spring menu. Tried the Kajiki Crudo; Blue Marlin, fennel, horseradish & Meyer lemon. It was truly delicious! The flavored paired wonderfully and the fish was super fresh. Next was the asparagus salad which was fresh and crisp. Followed by the 16oz ribeye. Perfect med-rare and not too fatty. Subbed the asparagus for the feta creamed corn. Finn & Porter always gets it right and I highly recommend for a fine dining experience. "

  • "Obviously, when you have a restaurant in a hotel you automatically think a step below. At the last minute, I tried to book a reservation from a few higher rated restaurants. Not sure what to expect, I went ahead and reserved here since the wait was too long at the other places. The ambiance was nice and the food was very good. I'm a foodie and everything was done great. Would definitely go back and recommend to all."

Our group of four found plenty of options on the menu - seafood, steak, wine, and dessert, and found each choice to have been well prepared. Our waitress was very pleasant, prompt and attentive to our needs and took great care of us. We enjoyed the ambiance and decor and had no difficulty carrying on our conversation without overhearing or disturbing others. Finn and Porter is a great restaurant and we will return!"

  • "We went for happy hour and found some great deals. Started off with 1/2 price wine by the glass. Also had 1/2 price sushi. The Hot Hama was a tasty spicy Hamachi and habanero dish and the Tuna & Foie Graa was a rich and beautifully made plate. Love this place and can't recommend it enough. Don't forget to try the grilled broccoli salad! Wonderful!"

It was a pre-fix menu - the food was pretty good, though not as good as I expected for the price, and the portions were very small. The service was terrible - we didn't get our wine until after the first course arrived and the main course came before the salads. Also, despite having a reservation, we had to wait over 30 minutes to get seated. Overall, not a great dining experience."

  • "We had an 8:00pm reservation for 2 and we showed up at 7:55pm. The hostess told us that our table would be ready in like 10 mins or so and to wait in the bar upstairs. At 8:13pm, we went back downstairs and the hostess told us that she called us like 5 mins ago on my cell phone and since I did not get back to them in 5 mins, she gave our table away!!! I could not have heard my cell phone ring in a noisy bar...they should have sent someone upstairs to tell us our table was ready. It was New Years Eve and they had a four course meal for 85.00/person. Food was good, however, it took forever to get our drinks, they must have been understaffed since our waitress was responsible for working like 8 tables at once. Not a good time overall."

  • "Went for Half Price Sushi Happy Hour with my two boys, 2 & 5. They loved it and Jack the sushi chef was very accommodating with their requests. They wanted to try different types of sashimi and he made suggestions and cut everything in a kid friendly size. The staff was awesome as well and took very good care of us even though we were seated at the sushi bar. Highly recommend and will definitely be back! Also, I ordered the amazing Brocoli salad and the scallops. Beautiful and delicious plates!"

  • "The lobster bisque was a little too salty for my taste. The Roll Hot Hama was wonderful, light and the flavors melded very well though the portion was small for the price. The short rib that was melt in your mouth delicious and made the whole dinner the pan seared bass was perfect but after the bisque i did make sure and ask that my main meal was not over salted.The creme brulee was not really creme brulee but more of a pudding but as a pudding it was great with the crumbles on top They also had a goat cheese cheesecake and if you don't like goat cheese don't order it. The homemade carrot cake was very good with the frozen sour cream or cream cheese or whatever they had on top in lieu of icecream it really complemented the sweet cake."

  • "The regular menu at the restaurant may be wonderful, but the Thanksgiving menu was in my opinion really poor. The stuffing was gummy, the turkey had absolutely no flavor whatsoever except for the "dead chicken" taste, and the green bean casserole was bitter. We were very disappointed. I guess I probably should not have expected "home cooked" flavor from a restaurant but it should have been better than it was."
