think the food isn't as great as
before :( the angus beef grill thing is way too salty and saucy, it was good back in july! also beef ball is not on the menu anymore...sad face and it's been a long time but i'm still very sad that the charashi block sushi is gone"
Dined on 2/22/2014
The yellowtail was very fresh. I
find the soup base very sweet, this is a personal opinion. Otherwise, everything was very good."
Dined on 1/31/2014
Best izakaaua in toronto. Great
food great service"
Dined on 1/24/2014
It was okay. Food was slow to
arrive and the dishes were less fun, less varied and less flavourful than Guu. Fish hotpot had lots of cabbage, much less fish and none of the advertised snow crab. Wagyu patty had nice flavour. Nice that they take reservations but I'd probably go back to Guu."

This place is my go-to restaurant
for Izakaya. Everything about Fin is perfect. The food, the ambiance and the service are all top-notch. The menu is diverse and everything is so delicious you're bound to spend a lot of time ordering random things just to see if it was as good as the last dish. Service is extremely attentive but is designed to keep you relaxed - eating and drinking for a good long while. What might be an hour experience at another restaurant could easily end up being 1.5 - 2 hours here, which is a good thing. It gets busier later in the weekend and especially on the weekends so reservations are a good idea."

The severs are all very friendly.
The dishes are wonderful; I feel I am in Tokyo. Great for drinks and small unique Japanese tapas. I will go back."
Dined on 11/14/2013
Fin is a great, fun environment to
enjoy a cold one with friends over small share plates. Similar to Guu, guests are greeted loudly upon arrival and at departure. My husband and I sampled from sections on the menu and while some dishes were "misses", some of our favourites were the pork belly and various skewers which were cooked over charcoal. Next visit, I know what dishes to focus on."
Dined on 11/3/2013
The best Izakaya in the best
location, low noise, and superb service and friendly staff (very police in a Japanese manner); and in a Canadian sense of view. Who cares about the price - it is worth it at least on a bi-weekly visit or monthly visit or events."
Dined on 10/30/2013
Unlike some fancier, higher priced
izakayas in town, Fin delivers authentic, high-quality dishes at reasonable prices. The service is very prompt and friendly (very Japanese) and the sake and beer selections are very good, too."
Dined on 10/20/2013
An absolute gem of an izakaya.
Authentic natto dishes and variety of oysters and fresh fish. Bring an appetite!"

I have been coming to FIN for
several years and have NEVER had a bad experience. Food is great ... Service is great. I absolutely love coming here!"
Dined on 10/8/2013
Went here for my friend's
birthday. The atmosphere is great, but quiet enough to have a good chat. The food here was amazing. The way that the chef sets up the design/look dishes really brings puts Fin Izakaya above the competition."
Dined on 9/27/2013
I have been to the place for a few
times. I love this place ever since my first visit. I am sure I will go back. Great food, nice service. One of the best experience of a Japanese restaurant or Izakaya. Highly recommended."
Dined on 9/23/2013
The staff shouts friendly
greetings, although not as over-the-top as the better known chain of two Izakayas in Toronto. Rock music plays. There are some higher quality food choices, including Angus beef. I would definitely come back, even though I am a big fan of its main competitors. A huge advantage this place has over its main competitors is that it takes reservations (as you obviously know by visiting this web site), and there is no two-hour limit to sit at your table. All in all, a good Izakaya for people who don't want to wait around or live near Yonge & Eglinton."
Dined on 9/13/2013
I come here all the time, as I
live near by, and I always bring friends for the first time. They love it! The service is great and the food is always delicious. It's a perfect spot for trying new food, as they are served tapas style and everyone can get a taste."
Dined on 8/30/2013
For those -- like me -- who don't
know what to expect with an Izakaya, picture an upscale Japanese pub with really good tapas style food and an excellent sake list. This place is terrific. They all yell when anyone walks in the door. The menu seems authentically Japanese, but it -- like the servers -- is easy to understand in English and the food is really tasty. You can order as much or as little as you like, all at once, or dish by dish. It's creative, delicious, and offered up in a casual, comfortable way. Fun evening."

My boyfriend and I came to Toronto
for a little vacation during the weekend. Fin Izakaya was probably thr best restaurant we've eaten at through the whole trip. First of all, the restaurant is beautiful, with a wide open kitchen where you can see all the chefs at work which I think is great. The waitress we had was very nice and helpful. But now, let's talk about the food... You ahve tons of choices, and I have absolutly nothing negative to say about it! My favorite dish was the blowtorched vinegar-pickled mackerel. I could have eaten that dish 3 times over it was so good. All in all, if you're thinking of going to Toronto, I strongly suggest you try out Fin Izakaya, if you want to try the real Izakaya experience!"
Dined on 7/28/2013
The food was incredible. Everybody
should try the blowtorch mackerel. It was one of the best things I've ever eaten. The only thing that was kind of unfortunate about this place was the end of our night. The service had been impeccable and we had ordered quite a bit and then the server came by and asked if we wanted to get another dish. We said yes but we weren't sure just yet and she said she'd come back. But then she never did. We had planned on ordering at least one more dish, more drinks, and we definitely wanted dessert. We ended up just getting up from our table after about 45 minutes of no service and had to ask for our bill. Very strange experience because they could have made a lot more money off of us..."
Dined on 7/13/2013
The food quality was great, and
the service was great. But, we were all shocked at how small the portions were. 4 of us ate $60 worth of food and we were still very hungry after."
Dined on 7/4/2013
Definitely one of my favourite
place to dine. Great for taste of authentic Japanese food and kind service. and of course, can't forget the draught beer mega mug!!"
Dined on 6/27/2013
A wide variety of items to choose
from tapas, yakitori and daily specials. Reasonable price and they even offer free parking for dinner patrons. Very attentive service and most of all, the food taste great. Definitely will come back again."
Dined on 6/23/2013
Very enjoyable dining experience.
Good menu selection, good value, and taste. Very similar to the popular restaurant Guu, but quieter and more spacious. Overall, enjoyed the experience and would go back."
Dined on 6/23/2013
Great food! Orders are tiny so
prepared to order about three plates per person for a reasonable size dinner but everything is delicious. Fun and boisterous atmosphere makes this restaurant a little too loud for quiet conversation. Food comes out of the kitchen at a pace that may be a little slower than some places, so be prepared for at least 2 hours."
Dined on 6/21/2013
Sub standard sushi bar with young
kids making the food. Unfortunately, disappointing."
Dined on 6/13/2013
This has been my second visit at
Fin. Yesterday I was about to order off the party menu and everything that came from the menu tasted great and everyone had a good time. Our server Hiro was very attentive Nd the restaurant gives off a lot of energy to its guests."
Dined on 5/30/2013
Loved the miso-tuna tartar
(something I've never had before at an izakaya), the tako-yaki are the best I've had outside Japan (tho the octopus pieces could have been a little bigger), and the salmon done 3 ways was very nice. Love the price on the huge mug of beer, too! Service was attentive and friendly. I'll be back!"
Dined on 5/23/2013
Service this time was a bit
disappointed. The attendant was probably new so was a bit slow and unattentive. Definitely not the same experience I used to have..."
Dined on 5/17/2013
Fin Izakaya has a wide variety of
sashmi. Unfortunately I do not eat anything raw. Therefore I was limited to whatI could eat. Food. Was okay but not the best. I find it a little over price. A stone rice costed 9.90 and it was extremely small and not the best tasting. Good thing is they have free parking. Just call them when you arrive and they can bring you to the lot. The lot is sometimes closed so they have to open it for you."
Dined on 5/18/2013
Authentic Japanese food just like
the drinking houses in Japan. Excellent service - they cheer and greet you when you arrive and leave and our server was so polite and gracious. Favorites include the octopus balls (it's not what it sounds like, it's octopus with this delicious dough around it and shaped into balls), beef tongue and sashimi is fresh and well presented. Lots of sake offered and beers you can't find in other places. Can't wait to go back again soon! This is one of my favorite places in Toronto!"
Dined on 5/10/2013
To be honest this is my first time
to be here and my friend told me is a very good place to try, and I want get some recommendation for something popular, waitress seems like doesn't know anything and I didn't get any advice, I m very disappointed and won't come back next time."
Dined on 5/6/2013
Celebrated our 25th anniversary.
Staff brought surprise complimentary cake for dessert. What class. Food was excellent: Japanese but not sushi. Definitely will go again. So delicious."
Dined on 4/5/2013
The best japanese cuisine in
Toronto. This is authentic izakaya at its best. Great food and friendly staff."
Dined on 4/4/2013
I love Fin!! It is one of my
favourite. Food and staff in Fin are wonderful and I could feel that staff respect foods and customers very much. Thank you!"
Dined on 3/31/2013
great dinner. great ambience. a
little too noisy unless you were in a booth - as we were"
Dined on 3/31/2013
Great hospitality, very friendly
and attentive staff. The quality & freshness of their food speaks for itself. Hands down the best izakaya in the GTA."
Dined on 3/28/2013
I came here for lunch with a
couple from out of town and they are expert foodies in Japanese food. We all loved the affordable and very reasonable priced menus that allows you to customize rice bowl in various sizes and choose from a great selection of side menus. What we enjoyed the most was the delicious prepared fresh food and the food doesn't do its justice on their colourful lunch menu. I would highly recommend friends to come here for lunch. The only disadvantage is that there is no free parking in the area."

I love the atmosphere of this
place. It's relaxing and comfortable. You're instantly welcomed by the entire staff, and wished farewell when you leave. It's a beautiful taste of Japanese culture. I tried things there that I have never eaten before, like raw squid and beef tongue (and it was really tasty!). The Mega Mugs of beer, (32 oz in one glass!!) were a great offer and we took full advantage of it! The service was great, we weren't rushed to finish our meal and the staff was really friendly. We were there for 3 hours and were fully entertained by watching the chef's create their dishes in an open kitchen. It is a must see place and I highly recommend it."
Dined on 3/16/2013
Everything is great, except price
is on the high side. Dishes are quite small so you need to order quite a number of items to fill the stomach, and the bill keeps adding up."
Dined on 3/12/2013
Great food. Original, tasty,
fresh, well prepared. Service was okay. Noisy restaurant. We'd go back."
Dined on 3/9/2013
If you want a quiet romantic
restaurant, this is the wrong one. Fin is a loud, lively Japanese bar with tapas style food. The dishes are small but extremely tasty. They have some of the best Japanese food in Toronto, and one of the few run by Japanese staff. If you go, you must try their signature blow torched mackerel. Each dish is not that expensive, but it can add up and get pricy. Generally the cost is about $30 - $40 pp (not including drinks)."
