  • "We live in California and found Filomena's about six years ago. We come to DC every year for a week and we make it a point to eat here everytime we are here. The food is delicious and the service is always friendly and efficient. We love this restaurant."

  • "Our party of 4 had a 5:00 pm dinner reservation on Easter Sunday. After about a 10 minute wait we were seated in a very crowded, very noisy dining room. Our waiter promptly introduced himself and then we never saw him again for over 25 minutes. The table next to us was seated after us and their order was taken before ours. When I commented on this fact, our waiter just shrugged his shoulders. We waited for over 45 minutes for our food to be brought to the table once we ordered. Although the food was delicious our waiter couldn't handle the tables he was given. One of our meals was delivered barely warm (meatballs and ravioli) and had to be sent back. The food and desserts were excellent but the service was not. "

  • "Very touching to see pasta mamma in front, and she was very friendly. Waitstaff were attentive and friendly-Tony was excellent and reminded me of my Italian uncle. Food was excellent. Noise level was way too high and there was not much space between diners. Also, maybe put families with children in separate area. The table behind us included a child playing a very loud game on an I-pad and I did not want to be rude and ask if he could put it away. "

  • "We waited too long and missed booking dinner here so we decided to do our Easter lunch at Filomena. We were blown away by the Easter decorations and the atmosphere at the restaurant. Our waiter, Dario, was extremely helpful in explaining the menu and features. Needless to say, everything we ordered was out of this world - excellent Italian. The place is well known by locals and celebs as the menu will note. We could clearly see why after eating here. "

  • "My husband and I celebrated our seventh wedding anniversary here and the food was absolutely wonderful. The portions are always enormous, so you basically get two meals for each one you order. We both went home with leftovers which is always a plus! The wine menu was very thorough and the desserts were absolutely fantastic. I was also so surprised at the digestif they brought us at the end. Nothing like a bit of amaretto to cap off a delicious meal. We will definitely be back again. "

I highly recommend this restaurant. I had the seafood cannelloni. It was squid ink pasta and covered in their famous lobster sauce. Excellent. "

  • "We had lunch at Filomena's on the recommendation of a friend and were not disappointed! The menu is extensive but not overwhelming, the food prepared with care, the wait staff friendly and competent and never hovered (one of my pet peeves), but the decor was unexpected and fabulous! We were there the week before Easter and the restaurant was extravagant. Clearly, the 'regular' look is unique and comfortable, but this holiday layer was festive and just plain fun. Reading afterwards about the history of the restaurant, I discovered that decorating for various holidays is a trademark. I would happily recommend dining at Filomena's on any occasion, holiday or not. "

The atmosphere is a bit overwhelming - when there in mid April, I have never seen so many Easter bunnies & egg decorations! The kids loved it and everything we ate was superb. "

  • "We were told of Philominas from our son's principal. He was right on target. Great food, enough for the guy that wants a big meal and the ambiance was that of my nonnas basement dining table. The Osso Buco with risotto was one of the best I've had. My son had the lasagna and devoured it. My daughter loves the linguini with clam sauce & my wife enjoyed her stuffed chicken. When we return to Washington, D.C. we will return to Philominas. "

  • "Had a Mon 7:30 rez, got there early and had a drink at the bar. We were seated at 7:30. Server was awesome and on top of everything, he gladly acc any & all requests we had, never made us feel rushed. There is no kid menu. Portions are huge! Everyone was very happy with what they ordered. Atmosphere--it's very loud Noise wise and décor. Lots of energy here! But everyone was having fun and servers and managers were busting tail to make sure everyone was happy. It was Easter week and there were bunnies & eggs every where you looked. Cool for the kids, but really over the top, which I think is their thing during holidays, it just added to the exuberance of the whole experience. Our favorite restaurant that we had on our trip to DC. "

  • "I love this restaurant. My advice - order from the menu and do not eat the buffet. The food was VERY salty and tasted overdone; meatballs were okay, but full of sodium and the chicken was dry-dry-dry. There was no real variety and it was mediocre and disappointing, considering it's a DC mainstay. I had a Groupon for Sunday Brunch and realized it was only for Sunday - I will use the value another time, but only to order directly from the menu!"

  • "Magnificent food, from cheese ravioli appetizer, to salads, to black pasta with seafood, to Raspberry Marquis for dessert. Exceptional across the board. Superb old-school service, from Maitre D to the young man that kept our water glasses full. Attentive, interested, and genuinely there to make our meal fantastic. Delightfully fun and boisterous atmosphere. Not a place for quiet romance, but loud, happy, and familial conversations all around. All-out Easter decorations were way past fun. Can't imagine what goes up for Valentines Day, Halloween, or Christmas! Made a weekend trip into DC just to use a gift certificate from the kids. Absolutely worth the effort! Thanks Kids!"

But they try to cram in too many diners so you're constantly bumped by everyone passing by. The current Easter decor is a site to behold – you've never seen so many bunnies – but some of it's creepy (bunnies with human baby faces, for instance)."

  • "everything we've tried here has been good, some of it excellent. traditional italian like ravioli and meatballs were superb, shellfish was fabulous, lasagna was a little too ordinary -- good but not outstanding. the complimentary sambuca and amaretto are a treat! don't ever go here without a reservation; the problem is, even with your reservation be prepared to wait … and wait … to be seated. it is very popular and clearly they overbook consistently because waiting is not the exception it is the norm."
