A word from Figlio
born 1984. reborn 2012.

The original Figlio sat in the heart of Uptown Minneapolis at the iconic corner of Lake Street and Hennepin Avenue from 1984 to 2009. For 25 years Figlio was the place for first dates, nights out with friends, and killer Italian cuisine.

Award-winning Executive Chef J.P. Samuelson is carrying on the Figlio legacy, staying true to everyone’s favorite signature dishes while introducing new Northern Italian and Mediterranean-inspired flavors resulting in a menu of lighter, healthier fare.

We’re like a reverse mullet; party in the front and business in the back.
General Manager Jennifer Baltes and her hospitality team compliment the incredible food with passionate & personalized service, delivered by our professional staff who embrace the old world concept that dining is more than just eating and drinking.

Diner Reviews
  • "The merchant JC Penney had the reputation of judging a future employee on whether, at dinner, the applicant tasted the food before putting salt & pepper on it. I wish the chef would NOT salt the pot roast before serving it. I told the waiter that there was almost too much salt on the serving, and the waiter said that he'd heard that before from other clients. That was the second time I have been there and ordered the roast--not again."

  • "Just like the title says. I went with the wife for our anniversary awesome place. Waitress was awesome."

  • "There was nothing particularly bad about our meal at Figlio unless you count the server calling us "honey" and being slightly over-solicitous. Our entrees were good and fair value for the price but it was nothing to write home about or cause me to recommend or not recommend it as a dining destination. I think the food options in the West End give diners more options and this is simply one of them."

  • "It's too bad that Figlio is so loud. Could hardly carry on a conversation. Food was good even though the bread was stale on the edges. Nice variety on the menu. But will not go back unless I want to yell to my dinner partner!"

  • "Tuesday night, as was the case with other outings at Figlio we were provided exceptionally good appetizers and entrées. However the service was leisurely if not inattentive. I got my second glass of wine, ordered in mid-meal, after I was finished eating."

  • "Good for casual dining (close quarters, high noise level). A basic expectation with a reservation service is to have an actual table reserved for you, w/attention paid to special requests. On each of my visits there was no reserved table, fortunately the waits have been short. I've never been seated at a window table (my noted preference) & was never offered an explanation when I said it was requested. I once asked (not demanded) to be reseated from the back corner of the room & they complied, but I was made to feel like it was an imposition. The food is good, & when I like the food I try to give leeway on the service or ambience. Figlio has consistently frustrated me when it comes to their check-in experience, so just be aware of that."

  • "I had enjoyed Figilio's in Uptown, so was optimistic. Disappointing. The food was okay only. Spicing seems to have been reduced to the lowest demoniated - bland. Caesar salad had hardly any dressing, was barely tossed so was very uneven and had little taste. Shrimp and pasta was also unremarkable. I'm sorry to say I do not recommend and will not go again. Crave and Rojas 's are much more outstanding."

  • "On a VERY busy Saturday night we were seated about 5 minutes after our 7pm reservation. Our waiter was knowledgeable on the menu, had helpful recommendations and provided attentive service. Among the starters we were all especially wow-'d with the baked artichoke ramekin. The chicken satay was good. The artisan meat antipasti platter was tasty but sparse for the $15 price. Among the entrees, tortellini and ravioli were all thumbs up. Stand-outs were the seared rare ahi with roasted beets and the shellfish cioppino. The only disappointment was late arrival of a side of asparagus came late behind everything else. A generous desert to share was on the house for my daughter's birthday. Overall a good special occasion outing. We will be back."

  • "Great time with friends who used to live in Mpls. We were comfortably seated in one of the big booths which was ideal for the 4 of us (which included a baby/bar car seat). Started with the chicken satay - delicious dipping sauces! We sampled the Bloody Mary mix which had some much-desired pizzazz, a nice peppery finish; I ended up having a glass of it, sans booze! With entrees, a couple of us went "old school," choosing the tortellini and Joe's egg's which brought back a lot of Uptown memories - particularly the all-day Sunday Happy Hour (thank you for maintaining that!). We wrapped up a 3-hour chill-out session with the tiramisu; 1 order was quite sufficient for 3 adults. Great food, great service, great experience!"

  • "The place was rather loud and the tables were extremely close together. Hard to have a private conversation. The food and service were excellent though. Not a romantic or first date place given the noise."

  • "Good place to dine before the late show. But make a reservation - the place was hopping!"

  • "Our server, Jessica, was excellent! The food was good. I ordered the speidini (beef on a skewer), which was tough but had a good flavor. I wouldn't order it again. My husband had chicken with a lemon sauce, which was excellent. My daughter had a butternut squash ravioli and my son-in-law ordered the ravioli with red sauce. Both were very good. The noise level was pretty high, but we asked to be seated in the room further back, which wasn't as noisy."

  • "Not sure I'd return I requested a booth with my reservation, but did not get one. Very noisy Long lengths of time between our servers visits to the table"

  • "The food was mediocre. Dry was the theme. Dry banana cake. Dry pretzel buns. Bland tiramasu. Chewy, average calamari."

  • "We enjoyed everything about our dining experience starting with the valet parking, hostess, waitress, "busboy", food and drinks. Our party of four all agreed it was the best dining experience we have all had in a long time. It by far exceeded our expectations. Perfect night out and would recommend it to anyone. Compliments to the chef/chefs for sure!"

  • "I was so excited to be back at Figlio because I was a regular diner at their Uptown location, however, my first experience in St Louis Park was simply just ok. We sat in the bar area for happy hour and the food was on the poor side. With that said, our waitress was nice and the history I have with the restaurant warrents another chance. Although, with all the competition these days, I don't see me going back any time soon. Sorry!"

  • "Weeknight dining experience was quite delightful. HIghly recommend the meatball bruschetta appetizer, and the entrees of pork tenderloin and spiedini were nicely composed and nuanced with flavor, and hearty amount of food. Service was quite exceptional."

  • "I was at Figlio when it was in uptown and loved it. Just discovered it opened at West End. Had a great business lunch there this week. The staff had great customer focus. The food was wonderful. the prices were reasonable. All-in-all a great dining experience"

  • "This was our first visit since the restaurant moved to the West End and it was not memorable. With all of the great restaurant choices there are in the city we probably wouldn't return. The host, a gentleman, was obviously unhappy when we requested a table other than the one he offered. It was literally up against a service station. Our waiter was pleasant but not overly interested and we didn't get bread until we requested even though all of the tables around us did receive bread. The drinks were small and watery. The appetizers were good. The rest of the food was decent but again not memorable."

  • "I was hesitant to check out the new ( not so new anymore) Figlio and after Thursdays dinner with friends I'm sad I waited so long. The wine was delicious, and the food was even better then I remembered. Our server went above and beyond, unfortunately I can't remember his name. I'm thinking Chris? The manager, Christine came by our table to welcome us since we were first timers. I will definitely go back, and am already looking forward to the awesome calamari. :-)"

  • "We are older, and tend to go early to the same ole, same ole places, close to home. This was only less than 10 miles away, but it was "out of the box" for us. David, our wait person, was very attentive, right on top everything, portions a little larger than expected. By that I mean, we could have stuck with the entree only, didn't really need ala carte salad. Four of us loved our choices! We decided, we need to get out more often."

  • "Service was lacking...water refills, bread, taking our order was slow despite the restaurant not being busy. Both the field greens salad and pasta with shrimp were just okay. Rather said that this was such a good restaurant in the early years and now is just another so so restaurant at West End. Probably won't return."

  • "Hadn't been back since it opened and was great experience Octopus salad was a little bland otherwise great food."

  • "We went for a birthday dinner, and got a Fantastic Waitress, Grace. She was funny, and helpful and appeared at all the right times. We had an artichoke dip that was good, and everyone really liked their entrees, the cocktails were Fun, and had interesting names and ingredients. We also had a chocolate cake, which was very rich but delicious. They also do leftover tin foil swans so we had a great time seeing those come out, and taking one home!"

  • "Quite noisy! Hard to have a conversation at the table-lots of echoing from the high ceilings. Otherwise, all around excellent food and service."

  • "We went to Figlio's this past Sunday to celebrate my mom's birthday and the food, atmosphere and staff could not have been nicer ESPECIALLY our server, Del. He was exactly the kind of server you want when you go out for a fun occasion. SO nice, funny, incredible service - this is where a server made our great lunch/drinks even better. We will be back!"

  • "Really, a great spot all around. Fabulous food, drinks, and ambiance. Their pizza (BEST pepperoni I've EVER had in my life) is outstanding. Chicken soup was delectable. Fantastic drinks."

  • "Large space, not obtrusively loud, boring decor. But I come for the food, which is very good. Wine prices are high and glass portions are smallish. Help us out! Would recommend and/or come back."

  • "We had a wonderful evening and our food was awesome!!! I had my favorite tortellini! Yum! We loved Figlio's in the '80's and we love it now!"

  • "It was really just very expensive for the quality of the food. For nearly every entree, either the main protein portion looked not so great, or the sides that came with it. Our server (while very nice) was on top of us or she was no where to be seen. It was just a weird and awkward experience. There didn't seem to be any effort at plating, food was just sort of plopped into an approximately sized container. None of these things are inherently terrible, but then don't charge so much."
    Dined on 2/25/2014
  • "A great management team, service, and the food was outstanding."
    Dined on 2/25/2014
  • "As the title says, Figlio is the definition of average. Our server was very nice but other than that our experience wasn't memorable. The food was just ok. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good. I'd much rather go to the other restaurants in the area. I don't think I'll be back."
    Dined on 2/22/2014
  • "A little spendy, but good food, good beer, and great service! It was obvious our server was experienced. We got Steak Frites and Tortellini - both delicious. The Steak Frites came with 3 different sauces and shoestring fries. I wouldn't recommend ordering the antipasto/meat platter based on price -- it was $15 and didn't come with bread or crackers. Would like to go back and try the pizzas!"

  • "4 stars might be a bit generous - as it doesn't compete with La Belle Vie or 112 Eatery or Piccolo in terms of style of food.....but they can turn out consistent food at a decent price. They were a bit slammed for a Wednesday evening....so the service was a bit slow - but we weren't in any rush....so it wasn't a problem. We were in the main dining room which was 75% full....but the bar was packed."

  • "They have a great happy hour! Good prices and good selection of small plates of food. The mac and cheese is straight up amazing."
