FIGDining at figOverall, felt the pricing was high. Chef is creative but needs to revalue
the pricing on wines and local vegetables.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent restaurantF.I.G. is regarded as one of the best restaurants in Charleston and our experiences there have done nothing to challenge that reputation. Reserve very well in advance though!6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food....Love this place, easily one of the best restaurants in Charleston and I am a local who loves food!!! The menu changes daily and is based on seasonal ingredients. The server was very helpful and made excellent recommendations. It is a bit pricey, but well worth every penny.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were a group of four ladiesWe were a group of four ladies and we all found everything about FIG to be just perfect. Kate, our server was just amazing! She was so accurate in her descriptions and helped to guide us to perfect food and wine choices. We really enjoyed our dinner and will definitely be coming back!!!6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMTastyFrom the staff to the food - everything was great. We went for our 10th anniversary & had an intimate little booth for two in the back. The staff had such high energy & were extremely knowledgeable & clearly excited about the menu offerings. We had artisan cheeses & ricotta gnocchi for an appetizer. We tried the rudder fish & the trigger fish, both of which were delicious. Finally for dessert we had a chocolate cake with amaretto ice cream & a dessert that I can't remember the name of, but let's just say it was AMAZING. Beautiful dark chocolate mousse type dessert sitting atop salted caramel. How could you go wrong? All in all, FIG is a definite must try and we will be going again. It's no wonder they book out so quickly.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfectionFood, service, wine....simply amazing. We cheated ourselves waiting so long to try Fig. It is now one of our favorites and we will certainly be back. Everything exceeded our expectations.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed emmensely!Had a great dining experience with food and wine. Waiter was knowledgable and enthusiastic about food preparing and presentation. Heads and tails above other Charelston dining experiences.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMSlightly slipped?Fig has been a fave since the first bite several years ago, but after waiting weeks to get a reservation and hyping to our friends, it fell short of expectations. To start, service was, frankly, a bit slow and it was not all that crowded. This night, the menu - always limited, but inspired, was just limited. I'm sure it being a Monday was a factor. We will be back...sometime.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFine dining is a refined atmosphereWe spent our anniversary at FIG and it more than met our expectations. The food was beautifully prepared, interesting and delicious. We particularly liked the chicken liver pate, which was smooth and creamy and melted in our mouths. This is a lovely spot -- a little pricey, but nice for a special evening or for gourmets. We will be back.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFIGWhat a fabulous find !!! A great spot in a GREAT city !!! I would go back again and again !!!,6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMStill fabulousHave eaten at Fig many times over the last 4 years when I was visiting Charleston. It still does not disappoint. Great bar with fun cocktails. Excellent food and waitresses, great service. We had 9 vegie salad and chicken pate to start--excellent! Two of us had the fish stew, one had the pork confit and one had the grouper. Everyone loved their dinners!6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother outstanding mealFIG has been a favorite for many years. The food is always inventive and very appealing. Love that they use local suppliers and give them credit. Highly recommend to all!6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFish stew made the mealOn a recent visit to Charleston made reservation here based on high reviews and recommendations.
Had the pig foot app based on servers recommendation. It was ok, nothing to write home about. Berlin Wall cocktail was decent but very small for the price.
Chose the fish stew as the main course. This was the highlight of the meal, mussels and squid were perfect and the shrimp and fish were very good as well. Definitely would have this again.
Overall a good experience but expected more given the other reviews.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentFIG is one of my 3 favorite restaurants in Charleston because of its innovation (that works!), its use of local fresh foods, and the experience of light, healthy, and gourmet cuisine all rolled into one! Only problem is how far ahead one needs to call to get a reservation!5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMLUTEthat short for LIVES UP TO EXPECTATIONS
and went beyond
A great execution of a uber creative assortment of outstanding FOOD
and our waitress was ANNE HATHAWAY
or maybe she was a better looking younger version
an outstanding evening5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMNow I Know!I'm new to the Charleston area, and my friend had raved about Fig several times and told I would enjoy it. It took us a bit to get reservations but on Tuesday night (May 28, 2013) I finally had my opportunity to experience FIG. WOW! I now know why getting reservations is a bit difficult. Its a small fairly intimate place but I loved that they didn't have the tables crammed into the space that it prevented a private conversation or impeded movement. The service was outstanding, all wait staff should be trained as those at FIG. The food was simply the best. I had never had Wahoo, but I will definitely have it again after trying it at FIG.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of my favorite all-timeOne of my favorite all-time restaurants. Everything here is wonderful from the drinks (awesome manhattans), to the service (which is impeccable), to the food. Oh, the food; yum! The waitstaff is very knowledgeable but not snobby or overbearing. They are there when you need them but not hovering over you which I always find annoying. The chef is just amazing.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food - loved the gnocchiLate night dinner was extremely enjoyable. The 9 Vegetable salad was terrific- full of bright, fresh flavors- did they grow these veggies out back??? My gnocchi was exceptional and the sugary surgham cake was divine. The atmosphere is a bit stark- what is it with minimalist settings? I know the food is the star but I like to enjoy fine food in a fine atmosphere.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMBest (non)SecretOne sentence covers it all: I love FIG. That's all there is. Oh don't be worried you have to wait for a table, just get the daily cocktail from the bartender (mixologist). From there just people watch the patons coming and going, or the people walking down Meeting Street. Take in the atmosphere. Listen to the laughs. When you get to the table, just know everything on the menu is fresh and sourced locally. Be excited with what you ordered because it's all delicious. There is no bad dish. Reservations are highly encouraged. Pros: great food, drinks, staff. Cons: a little dark, prepare to spend for quality5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's the Quality.Food was superb. The use of local produce and seafood really elevated the dining experience. Service was top tier.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding! Not only is the food outstanding, but the servers are extremely well-informed about the menu. They can describe the meal perfectly and our server, John, was excellent with recommendations on food and wine. Always a perfect experience.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding food experienceOutstanding food experience on our last night in Charleston. Service was friendly and efficient. Would certainly recommend this restaurant!5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat an ExperinceIt was our first time in Charleston, SC and our first time at FIG and it was our first meal in town. What an experience, it was FABULOUS!!!
We loved everything about the experience, the food, service and price. We also loved our waitress Kate and will highly recommend the FIG to family and friends. I look forward to our return trip in the fall.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Hanger Steak and the NineThe Hanger Steak and the Nine Vegetable salad will change your life5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMMy Favorite RestaurantWe dine at FIG every time we come to visit our son in a Charleston The food here wakes up taste bud I never knew I had.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMPretty Good! The meal was not quite a home run, but was certainly very good. The gnocci appetizer was SOOO good. My husband and I could not stop talking about it, even the next day. The onion soup appetizer was a disappointment. It sounded really good and the waitress likened it to a french onion soup. The beef broth was missing a depth of flavor and it was just not that good. My husband did not eat all of it and after the one bite I took to taste it, I didn't want anymore either. I got the grouper and liked it a lot. My husband ordered the hangar steak and enjoyed his as well. We got the sorghum cake with icecream. It was good but not mind blowing.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMBest of the Best....FIGWe live in Ansonborough downtown and dine all over Charleston. Simply said, FIG is the finest dining experience in town. The food is spectacular and the menu is always evolving. The servers are a cut above in their knowledge of the food and customer service skills.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious!I love food! By far this was one of the best meals I've ever had. Great service and great wine!5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMBest in charleston!!FIG is my all time favorite restaurant in Charleston. I'm always so excited to see what will be on the menu since it changes daily. The dining experience is one to be remembered. It takes a true culinary master to create the dishes that are served!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThoroughly enjoyable fromThoroughly enjoyable from our greeting at the door, continuing throughout each stage of our meal, & departure. Our meal was amazing!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMMenu summaryI would prefer to ask about specific dishes rather than the waiter Describe every item.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMone of the best restaurantsone of the best restaurants I have been to in a long time. The great food with the unique cocktails was outstanding.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best dining experiencesOne of the best dining experiences we have had anytime, anyplace. From the speciality cocktails to the apps(ham, pate) to the entrees(seafood stew, soft shell crabs) to dessert(shared pana cotta) everything was first rate. Excellent wine list. Our waiter John was knowledgeable, attentive and efficient and helped us with all selections.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMIn a city of amazing restaurants,In a city of amazing restaurants, FIG stands out as one of (if not THE) best!5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good overall but veryVery good overall but very expensive. There are lots of good restaurants around Charleston that are not quite as expensive. But overall very nice experience!4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMCharleston is a great townCharleston is a great town for foodies -- Fig would be one of the places NOT to miss!! Ummm4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMOur last dining destinationOur last dining destination during a three day Charleston visit was FIG which stands for "Food Is Good". Boy was it ever--we had dined at some other Charleston standouts but experienced very uneven service. Our server at FIG was Morgan ----she was outstanding. Her wine knowledge, pacing of the meal, suggestions for what we might enjoy on the menu were spot-on. Jill started with the chicken liver pate---a silky smooth brick with nuances of cognac, cream and challots. It was more reminiscent of Foie than anything. I had a asparagus soup that was bright green and filled with chunks of bacon and shaved, blanched asparagus. Entrees were Capellini with clams and a Wagyu beef steak over legumes that melted in your mouth. 5 stars--don't miss4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding food and service!!Outstanding food and service!! Our server Becca was extremely friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. We had a very relaxing dinner at our own pace. The food was fresh and prepared perfectly! Highly recommend!4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWe've been patronizing FIGWe've been patronizing FIG since it opened and were concerende that Mike Latta might be neglecting FIG for his new venture, The Ordinary. Well, FIG is not only holding its own as one of Charleston's signature restaurants, all three of us decided it was better than ever.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat overall experience.Great overall experience. It was a little loud and close quarters but otherwise great food, service.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and service...seaExcellent food and service...sea bass and flonder were first rate. Will be back next month if wecan grt reservations.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMI had high expectations forI had high expectations for FIG and they were all met and exceeded.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMI travel the world and thisI travel the world and this would be one of the best restaurants i have been to. the menu is printed daily and is based on farm to table so you are guaranteed fresh in season food. The bar men can whip up a mean cocktail.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious, fresh food thatDelicious, fresh food that made for a truly delicious meals. But the service was truly what made it phenomenal - the server was incredibly knowledgeable about the ingredients, preparation, and taste of each item. She made great recommendations that made our meal even better. By far this was our best meal in Charleston!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMAs in prior encounters, FIGAs in prior encounters, FIG and the service staff (Kevin in this case) exceeded all my expectations. It is a must-do, whenever I am in Charleston for business or pleasure.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMA must tryWow!!! This restaurant was awesome. It lives up to the hype.
We had a fabulous dinner and enjoyed everything we ate and drank.
I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone going to Charleston.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMA Charleston mustThe food was absolutely stunning - really memorable. Clever and tempting combinations. Outstanding.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious!Quite possibly one of the best meals we've ever eaten.
We were very surprised that very near us another table had small children that were almost loud, wasn't expecting that in this range of dining - but I'm not sure how you could prevent, either.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMHas become our favorite restaurantHas become our favorite restaurant in Charleston. We definitely had the best appetizer that we have ever had in any of the Charleston restaurants. It was called Littly Tunny and was Skip Jack. We had originally ordered a different appetizer but the other party that was with us ordered it and we liked it so much that we added it to our meal. We have never had a bad experience there and the food is always outstanding.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMTop NotchWe ate at nice Charleston restaurants 7 straight nights and FIG was one of the best. The interior is simple but nice, almost saying "our food speaks for itself". In the end, while the service was top notch, the food was outstanding in its inventiveness, freshness, and combination of flavors. The fish was fresh, the seafood stew was amazing, and the pig confit was also terrific. For a really nice cocktail, try the Berlin Wall.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
