Fig & Olive - UptownNot badDecided to go out to last minute dinner with my boyfriend at 8 pm on a Saturday. Went on opentable to make a reservation and was pleasantly surprised to see that they had a reservation open for 9 pm. When we got there we were seated right away. I was a little mad that it took the waitress an unreasonably long time to get to us. We were waiting for 6 minutes when my boyfriend told another waiter to get our waitress and when he did tell her, it seemed like to me that she rolled her eyes and she still didn't come over right away. The food was good, but don't come here if starving because the portions are small and it is a little on the pricey side. Overall, not a bad place.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMUpper East Side uber luncheonetteA place to dine, and not grab a bite. You can linger and talk. Food is upscale luncheonette fare, fancy sandwhiches and salads, but you can have a nice glass of wine with it. They did not hurry us, and the coffee was tops!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat placeWent to NYC for the weekend and went to Fig & Olive 3 times it was so good. Service was excellent. The food was delicious. Definitely recommend the Uptown location.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMLate lunch/early dinner gemWhile busy as can be during lunch hour, Fig & Olive is a true delight for late lunch/early dinner. Service was efficient and friendly; salads were spot-on. Crostini were artfully prepared and tasty. I'll be back.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice atmosphere and food.Very nice atmosphere and food. The servers were all nice, but our waiter definitely added another glass of wine to our bill - I only mention it because it seemed he was hoping the older man I was with wouldn't notice. So check your bill. Otherwise, a very nice experience.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service, even if twoGreat service, even if two ladies want to share a salad!!!! THe crostini plate was pleasing to the eye and palate.
Someday I will try another entree, but I am stuck on the salmon and shrimp salad. Perfectly done!
If you arrive early, they will seat you without waiting for your companion, and are always most courteous.
I have not been to the other locations, but in this 'hood, it is a great place to go!5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for all occasions. You can come her for just a bite or for an entire meal. The menu is so varied in terms of food types and prices. I can take anyone and know that they will find something just right, with or wothout meat, small or large, on a diet or not.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMI find the food consistentlyI find the food consistently good, fresh, nicely prepared. The space is somewhat tight and a bit cramped and I find they are looking to move you in and out very quickly - too rushed.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMQuite good food, nice service,Quite good food, nice service, great atmosphere ....just a bit pricey, but in line with other spots in the neighborhood.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGourmet MediteraneanThe food is wonderful at Fig and Olive. It is Mediteranean with a gourmet twist. Tables are a bit close to one another.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGood Go-To MealCame here for dinner last week while my dad was in town. I had been to the 5th Ave location a few years ago which I really enjoyed. This location is closer to my apartment so we chose to come here and the atmosphere is very different. This is much more intimate and smaller, very tightly packed tables and such. The food was exactly as a I remembered from previously, very tasty and corners not cut. I enjoy this restaurant because I know everyone will enjoy their meal, its somewhat more casual than another one of its competitors, and its relatively affordable.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMChoices, choices, choicesFood was amazing! Great for sharing if you like to try a variety of foods.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Place for LunchThe service was great from the host to our waiter. I had lunch with a girlfriend I hadn't seen in two years and they were so nice to give us the time to eat and catch up on all the news. The food was perfect and hit the spot. But what made it so nice was the staff4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWhen in Lex/ 60's, you can'tWhen in Lex/ 60's, you can't beat it. Waitstaff was very friendly, knowledgeable and on top of things. Food was SPOT ON. Elegant, creative and VERY TASTY.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMthey sat us right away, eventhey sat us right away, even though we arrived 20 minutes in advance of our reservation and without one of our party members. service was courteous, friendly, prompt, and the food was delicious. when the gentleman at the table next to us overturned his water glass onto the floor, glass shattering everywhere, waitstaff was there immediately to address the issue and even asked us if we were okay.
i thought the truffled scrambled eggs were a bit...soupy. the taste was there, and trust me, i had no problem finishing them off, but the excess liquid seemed odd. the viennoiserie basket also needed less bread, more pastry.
the side of sauteed spinach with fig and marcona almond, however, was maybe the best thing i ate all week.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a very good meal here.We had a very good meal here. We ate small plates to share. The mushroom croquettes were really one the best things I've eaten in quite awhile. The beef carpaccio was also excellent. I found the octopus a bit bland though the octopus itself was tender, which is a plus. The atmosphere is sleek and modern but has an old world feel to it also. The staff was very professional and attentive.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great time at FIGWe had a great time at FIG & OLIVE Uptown. This is an elegant and cozy spot. My companion and I started with the Crab Cakes and Octopus a La Gallega. These appetizers were very good. For our entrees we had the Flounder a La Plancha and the Rosemary Lamb Chops. These dishes were excellent! We finished our meals with the Warm Chocolate Soufflé and the Chocolate Pot De Crème. The desserts were sweet deliciousness. The service was exceptional. The staff treated us like royalty! This restaurant is highly recommended.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMI had the Rosemary Lamb Chops.I had the Rosemary Lamb Chops. They were delicious. The presentation at the table was unexpected and a nice surprise. My husband had the Veal and he too was very pleased with his whole meal.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is my fourth time diningThis is my fourth time dining at Fig and Olive and it is always a great experience each time! Fig and Olive - Uptown is a great little spot to gather just after work or to meet up with a friend for dinner. The ambiance and the relaxed setting of the restaurant gives it a cozy feel. Their crostini's are phenomenal and are a must have before your main course. My favorite entree would have to be the Mediterranean tasting because you get a little of both seafood and meat(shrimp and lamb). Fig and Olive will remain a favorite of mine!3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyable!met a friend for mid-afternoon glass of wine and snacks - perfect!!!
