Diner Reviews
  • "Server had much too much attitude to make this dining experience what the food deserved. Should have been great (food) but left wanting (service). Would I return? Perhaps. Fresh and tasty ingredients and vibrant environment. Should be a winner. Too bad Miss Red Lipstick was in a mood."

  • "This is the original Fig and Olive and still has the charm of a smaller UE restaurant. The salad with figs and beets is excellent and the cheese cake is the best. I also like the available wines by the glass, nice choices selected by someone who actually knows wine."

  • "The first time I experienced F&O was during Restaurant Week which proved them to have an excellent, quality menu w/fresh ingredients echoing the culinary savoir fair of the Mediterranean. My second visit justified my first impression, as the taste and quality of the food & service was consistently top shelf. I shall return w/ friends and family alike, that they too may enjoy this gem of a restaurant."

  • "Had a wonderful brunch experience here with a group of 6 for an informal baby shower and the food, service and ambiance was fabulous! Highly recommended for a group!"

  • "The food was tasty. The wine was good. I made a reservation through OPentable but they never gave me the points."

  • "Good food and presentation but cramped, noisy and small ."

  • "A favorite spot for my partner and me, though we had my niece along. I gave the service a 5 star because once they started it flowed, they were clearly understaffed. Still, it was excellent! Our waiter was warm and informative, as they all seem to be there. The staff went out of their way to be helpful, seating us earlier than our reservation too. We'll be back."

  • "Wonderfully fresh and well prepared food for any foodie or lover of an excellent meal. The service is attentive and friendly. Noise levels are high and room is small but the food makes the experience well worth the minor complaints. Will dine here on every trip to NYC"

  • "Great for birthdays- they give a chocolate souffle with candle! Food was so delicious- we all got the prix fixe and there wasn't one complaint! The bread and tasting olive oils are the best"

  • "Great food (particularly nice selection on the prix fixe menu) in an elegant, albeit tight spot. Appreciate how close you are to your neighbors! Good chance the conversation is as juicy as the meal!"

  • "Took 25mn for waitress to acknowledge our presence; had to get to maitre d to get a drink after 15mn...long long time between courses...then they forgot the side dish of couscous which came once we were already half-way through our entrees. All in all, very mixed experience. I would go back but to different. Location."

  • "I visited this restaurant with two of my best girlfriends during NYC Restaurant Week. We had reservations, showed up on time, and still had to wait about 30 minutes before we were seated. The restaurant is extremely tiny and looks to be on the ground level of a larger building/establishment. Easy to miss in dark evening. The food was delicious and so were the drinks. The service was pleasant. We were seated near the kitchen which had its pros and cons. It offered a great view, but it was very HOT. To make up for the long wait, the waiter brought over three bellinis on the house which was nice. I would recommend this place however it is very small, tight and sometimes felt cramped. Other than that, the food was amazing."

  • "Fig and Olive is a good place for lunch. A bit crowded and it can be very noisy. But the food is very good and interesting. It is much more interesting than most lunch places in the neighborhood, and the entire place, despite the noise and crowd, the ambience is fine and has charm. Antonia"

  • "The Fig & Olive provided a great, romantic atmosphere for my date and I. Our waitress was knowledgeable and the service was exemplary to make this a top-notch, romantic dining experience. My date loved it!"

  • "My daughter and I come here for brunch every weekend and never get tired of it! There are so many delicious choices, and we still haven't made it through everything. The staff is friendly and attentive. The Fig & Olive salad is a meal in itself! Love this place."

  • "Very good lunch place ,great location ,best quality and creative menu at very reasonable price"

  • "Everything was tasty and deserved to be tried. I will be back! I personally did not appreciate to see tip options... 18, 20 or 22%, the amount of tip to include should always be up to the client satisfaction and never suggested."

  • "Fig and Olive is a lively place with excellent food. The wait staff is personal and competent. The food presentation is creative and appealing. Fig and Olive is the kind of restaurant that everyone seems to like."

  • "Have been a few times and went early to avoid being on top of nest table, had a friend to catch up with. Ordered crostini and two carpaccios. Unfortunately all came at once, along with bread, so table was so full we divided up the crostini just to rid the plate. Would not even have ordered crostini if it weren't to be first as we chatted. Gues next time order before mains. Then they were clearing as one finished earlier...then coming for forks while we were still there...just rushing us out so.....fir a $70 lunch with not much food wish the service were on a par. The waitress was fine..it was the pacing and clearing that annoyed."

  • "This place has been on my list of restaurants to try for while. I went there for a late lunch and loved it!!! Everything was just so good and fresh. The olives were amazing almost had the entire bowl myself. The crostini with ricotta, fig and prosciutto were to die for!!! must go"

  • "I have been dining at Fig & Olive for 5 years now, every time my father comes into town for a visit dining here is a must! The food is always superb. I recommend starting off with the crostini's (Manchego is my personal favorite!). This time around we opted for their Prix-Fixe menu, I had the risotto with truffles and my dad had the chicken tajine, both were out of this world! Full of flavor and very filling. This little spot on the UES is definitely a must visit, especially if you enjoy Mediterranean cuisine."

  • "This was our last meal while in NYC this past weekend and it was fantastic! She had a panini that was superb, while I had the Spanish Cod that was outstanding. We shared a nice bottle of white wine and had some olives (of course) as an appetizer to the meal. Service was excellent and there was a lot of value for the price of our meal. Loved it and will go back next time we are in town."

  • "Very good food, nice place and great service! I recommend this restaurant for sure! PD: best SANGRIA ever!"

  • "We went during Restaurant Week and the place was a mob scene. The tuna provencal was very very good, however, my companion had the paella and didn't like it all. The appetizers, crab cakes, carrot soup, were both very good, as was the dessert. The noise level in the restaurant was too much and the air conditioning had to be turned on because of the heat. It was freezing outside, please know. The waiter was outstanding! He allowed us time to drink our drinks and was attentive to every need. All in all, it wasn't an awful experience, however, I wouldn't go back."

  • "We ate at Fig & Olive as a group of four for restaurant week. I definitely suggest having a reservation, as the restaurant is not very large. Great space, which they utilize well. Service was friendly & attentive. The carrot & thyme soup was AMAZING, as well as the Chocolate Pot de Creme. Olive Oil tasting for the table was yummy, too - just wish it came with more bread. Pricier than I'd like to normally spend, but would go back for a special occasion."

  • "Enjoyed the food and drinks - was there for brunch. Waiter seemed a little frazzled as it was busy but service was fine. I'd go back to try a different time of day, perhaps lunch or dinner."
    Dined on 3/1/2014
  • "Restaurant was very noisy and very crowded, I dare say claustrophobic, but we were there during restaurant week. The uptown location is much smaller than the midtown one. Food and service were good, but it was difficult to have a conversation because the noise level was high."
    Dined on 3/4/2014
  • "The food was fine. I enjoyed it. Not big portions. But, very filling. The service was excellent. The one negative I have for Fig & Olive Uptown is that it is esxtremely small and tight. It was a little uncomfortable. However, I would recommend it for an early dinner or brunch."

  • "Brought a couple of friends to celebrate a birthday. Our server was wonderful. We ordered off of the restaurant week menu which had great options. Everything was very tasty."
    Dined on 2/27/2014
  • "We were there to celebrate an occasion. I was not familiar with the restaurant- the ambience was more like a diner than an upscale restaurant. The food sounds interesting from the menu, but the portions were extremely small and expensive for a 'diner' atmosphere. We dine in the city often and this was disappointing."
    Dined on 3/3/2014
  • "I was very impressed with my experience at Fig & Olive. I took advantage of their restaurant week promotion and did not feel that anything (service, food quality, etc) was skimped on because it was a promotion. Our server brought a complimentary olive oil tasting, which was fantastic. Three different oils were presented alongside some amazingly soft bread. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to a friend."

  • "Interesting menu, presentation beautiful, taste of the food delicious! The service is great. A little pricey but worth it."

  • "Had dinner here during Restaurant week with friends! Thoroughly enjoyed everything, the ambiance, the service and the food!"
    Dined on 2/28/2014
  • "Dinner was great! both, menu and wine list made me believe my choise was perfect. Food was really great, but I had the feeling dinner was for 4, instead of 2. Just be prepared, this great restaurant is so small, you feel you are having dinner with the people sitting on the table next to your table."

  • "The set up & ambience was very nice. A vibrant spot for young professionals. The food was delicious both the fig & olive salad as well as yellowtail tuna. I would have preferred more side dishes but overall was great. The white wine we ordered was kinda flat but overall a great dinning experience"
