I especially loved the yellow fin tuna carpaccio. They also have a great wine list and our server was very knowledgeable and gave us great recommendations. I love the place so much I am coming back here again tonight (Mon.) and this time to treat my sister-in-law for her birthday."

  • "The prices here really aren't justified based on the service and food selection. We did enjoy the scallop and the crab appetizers. They were delicious. We ordered the Lobster Risotto which was good - not great and the portion size was small. The lobster salad had nice pieces of lobster sitting atop a bowl full of arugala which was not trimmed so you were left eating tough stalks. The service was good but not great as you might be expecting. The salad was served but there was no offer of pepper (there are no salt/pepper shakers on the table). The cocktails were served and one glass came with lipstick. Lastly when you enter this restaurant, the design is breathtaking but there is typically a line to checkin."

  • "If you make early reservations you will be seated along the wall where only one person has a view. If there is only two people when you make reservations ask to be seated either in table 352,355,307,or 316. Our server was nice enough to tell us this for next time but I don't think we will be going back. We asked to be moved to one of the many open tables and they said no. Also, do not ask to make any changes to a dish, the chefs are very touchy. I ask to sub the cusscuss with plain noodles and they said no. The best thing about the place is the service staff. Megan D. was great."

  • "We had a reservation and got there few minutes before . First we were told we need to wait 10 to 15 min. After the first 15 min we were told we need to wait another 10 to 20 min. When I complained to the manger all of a sudden she told us that are table was ready. So basically we sat after 20 min. Since we had gone there for my daughter's birthday and I had mentioned it in my reservation and even told the manager I was expecting that at least they do something about it after all. But no. Nothing. So, I would rather not going there any more"

  • "Overall, I gave our dinner 4-stars despite bad dessert. We got seated promptly and our waiter was great. The drinks & appetizers were excellent - the Jamon Iberica was to die for; also great tuna. The entrees were equally excellent including the Branzino, Boullabaisse, Risotto with lobster, and the seafood paella. The problem was with the dessert course. We had a Crème Brulee Cheesecake which looked nothing like a cheesecake. It was almost runny and had the consistency of Greek yogurt that had been torched on the top to look like Crème Brulee. We also ordered the chocolate soufflé which came out overcooked and without any soft gooey core. The manager was great to quickly take it off our bill, but they definitely need to work on desserts."

  • "Friends had recommended this restaurant. I took a group of 5 for a celebratory work related lunch. The atmosphere, food and service were amazing. We needed to keep our lunch to 1 hour and we got in and out--but never felt rushed. Everyone said they would come back--for cocktails, a date night, or a holiday lunch."

  • "Good rep, Anniversary dinner. But nothing special here. Good: sauce, entree flavors, scallops, waiter, front desk, Staff friendly. Dessert-panna cotta-peaches, COMPd-anniversary. Sweet. Ungood: wanted before-dinner champagne. But they serve dinner at bar - completely blocked. "Skinnied" between two diners & ordered-they were insulted (jerks). Maybe have a place to order a drink? Very loud. Decor dull; Lobster salad $26, "arugula, cucs, toms, onion, celery"-oops, no-cucs, toms, etc-big pile of arugula-3 pieces of lobster. Asked for additional vegs. Waiter:"oops, I'll fix that"- Nice, but repl salad: no vegs, just arugula. But nice waiter.. sides below avg (kale over-salted, mashed pot crumbly,dry-picky, but true). Not go'g back."

  • "Last minute reservation with my daughters for brunch while shopping. The restaurant is gorgeous and the food was amazing. One of my daughters recommended it because she has been for dinner and she said today was just as good. Everyone on staff there was so kind and the manager, (Hugo I think) was extremely sweet and helpful as well. He took time to chat with us and convinced me to come in with my husband for dinner. I am so glad we did not skimp on the crostinis! They made the meal!"

Amy was our waitress and very attentive. Wait staff is holding back trying to take your plates away, much better timing. Only negative is $6.00 to valet. Way too expensive, park at Fashion Island for free!"

  • "Decided to come on a Monday night, the Restaurant is usually really busy on Fridays or Saturdays when I usually go. This quieter crowd was a nice change. Got a table outside which was great. Our server was very nice and he did realize we wanted to take our time. Unfortunately when we were ready to order drinks, then food, it took what seemed like forever to get someone's attention. It also took a very long time to get our drinks which was a bit frustrating. The cristinis were spot on as usual. The pastas we got were both incredibly al dente, a bit too al dente even. Overall I've had many other positive dining experiences here. Just slow on a Monday night maybe."

  • "Three of us went for lunch. We shared 6 different crostini to start. They were not memorable. One of us ordered salmon requesting medium rare. It was well done. They did offer to bring another but we didn't want to wait. The scallops were way too salty. The steak salad was okay. On the plus side, the service was excellent & the restaurant itself is beautiful. I would not go back for lunch but I understand dinner is better. Might give that a try."

The waiter didn't return to explain the dipping oils - he said he would be walking us through them so this was disappointing. Also we all wish he had been more attentive to our table: drinks - lost out on a round because he didn't come back until it was too far in the meal; appetizer - would have ordered another for table since it takes a while for Branzini to cook; steak - ordered medium by the diner but was medium rare. By the time he came back to check on things, she didn't want to send it back since others were far into the meal. Wondering if less attentive b/c we're young? Maybe, but we like fine dining, have $, and tip well when deserved."

  • "Came to fig & olive on Saturday night. It was really busy and the night scene was really happening. Bobby was our server and he was awesome. Although the patio was really busy he was able to take great care of us and spend time explaining the menu in detail. He is very personable and really knows how to make people feel special. Definitely one of the reasons why I will be coming back. I ate the the chicken tajine one of his recommendations and it was one of the best chicken dishes I have ever had. The dj which I was not aware of is there 3 days a week was playing great new music which my girls and I love. Thanks Fig & Olive for a great night we will see you soon!"

  • "We drive by this restaurant all the time as we live in Newport Beach and always see the fanciest cars outside of it. One day we decided to have a date night without our child and to try it out. Firstly, do NOT bring your children here. The food was amazing and delicious but the price is quite high. For 2 people we spent $150 (4 drinks, 1 app, 2 entrees, 1 dessert). This place is very hip and trendy and all of the rich and fabulous are here to see and be seen on week nights. Cougar central... women on the prowl for rich men EVERYWHERE. That part was a little overwhelming. The restaurant is pretty loud and it was hard to have an intimate romantic dinner here. Glad I tried it but definitely will NOT be returning here with my husband."
