  • "The food at F&O in Newport Beach was very good and the service was awesome. The waiter and staff must have refilled my water about 10 times. The decor and outside patio were great. We started with crostini (excellent) and shrimp cocktail. The shrimp were extra large and cold, but the tail sections were kind of mushy. In hindsight next time we will probably just get the crostini and dessert since that was by far the best part. Also the bar area was empty at 9:00 so sitting in the large bar area might be a good option. Next were our entrees which was paella (recommended by the waiter) and salmon. The paella I thought was ok but my wife really liked her salmon. For dessert we shared the mixed berry crostata which was excellent."

  • "Had a reservation at 22 on a Saturday night. Got there and I was told our table was not ready and we had 4 people to be seated before us. Service was slow. Had to ask for the bread. Food arrived much before the drinks. My son's pizza was delivered 20 minutes after our main course. Music was too loud. Food was edible, but good food is different. Check was high?"

  • "My girlfriend and I were very impressed with the ambience, specialty cocktails and especially the food selection. Will recommend to friends and will return. I was disappointed with the front desk staff. We had 7:45 reservations and were not seated until 8:45. We were on time and were told that there were 5 parties ahead of us to be seated. I told the Hostess that I did not have my cell phone with me, a special occasion and did not want the disruption, and pointed to the area of the bar that we were sitting. She acknowledged where we were seated and told me that she would notify me when ready to be seated. An hour later I asked when we were going to be seated and she said that she sent out 2 text messages to my cell phone number."

  • "I couldn't eat my food in piece there. I constantly had someone trying to take my plate away before I finished my food. It was pretty annoying to have to keep telling them to leave my plate. I felt like they wanted to get me out of there as soon as possible. I love the food, too bad I will never go back again after this experience. Same thing happened to me the first time I came in, this was my second time here."

  • "Fig & Olive is a beautiful restaurant for the inside and out. Hostess was friendly and promptly seated us for our reservation. Things slowed down a bit from there as it took about some time to get our drinks ordered. Then it took even longer to get some food ordered. was about 45 minutes before our first appetizer arrived at the table. Main course was served lukewarm. At the end of meal plates were left empty in front of us for 10 minutes or so. All of this not what I expected from a restaurant charging $$$$ prices."

  • "Most importantly, the food and ambiance were great. The service, however, was awful. First, we were sat a table right next to the waitress service station. Yes, we were moved at our request, but why do they even have a table there? Terrible first impression. Next, I have a dairy allergy and the waitress was completely unaccommodating, telling me with certainty that neither the truffle risotto or the bouillabaisse could be prepared without dairy. As it turns out, both dishes were available that way, but she was uneducated on the menu and uninterested in helping. Lastly, when my wife asked her for change at the end of the meal for the valet tip (AFTER receiving a generous tip herself), she referred her to the bar...lol. Seriously??"

  • "Everything we had here was amazing! We sat next to the outdoor fireplace, and we're immediately greeted by Isaac, who was attentive throughout the entire meal and made great recommendations. We started with crostinis and truffle mushroom croquettes, which were probably my absolute fsvorite, followed by the beef tartar and the tuna carpaccio, which ended up being my nieces favroite. We also ordered the medium branzino and the lamb chops, which come to the table smoked. James recommended amazing wines for both of us based on what we said we liked, and really made the meal better. We shared a cheesecake and dessert crostini to end the meal and could not have left happier. Fig & Olive really made the whole night and I can't wait to come back!"

I love to come here and sit in the lounge, BTW not easy to get on the weekends. I know that you don't take reservations for the lounge tables but maybe you should change that for me ;)....   • "My wife and I have selected a new restaurant to celebrate our anniversary for the last 18 years. This year was no exception and at the recommendation of a friend we selected Fig and Olive. I will say the food and service was excellent. The disappointment was the only acknowledgment of our anniversary, which was communicated during the reservation was from the hostess as she took us to our table. We thought that was a bit shameful given the type of restaurant. Not looking for freebees but based on our experience most restaurants do make a small recognition by way of some type of small dessert offering."

  • "A few months back, my husband and I took some friends to Fig&Olive to celebrate his Birthday. It wasn't the best experience, but we decided to try again for our Anniversary. The dinner exceeded our expectations. The staff was very attentive and knowledgeable. We had several starters, including the crostinis. The crab was great, my favorite is the goat cheese with caramelized onion. We also had the truffle mushroom croquettes which were to die for... my husband and friends had the branzino and raved about it, my paella was perfect. I would definitely recommend!"

  • "From our drinks and small plate appetizers in the bar, to our perfect patio dining on shared apps and entrees everything about this place was a delight. Although pricey, ($470/4 with 4 cocktails and 2 glasses of wine), the menu is diverse from sizes to offerings. We had Kumamoto oysters with 3 mignonettes and cocktail sauce, multiple choices of "crostini" (made on shaped thick toast vs baguettes), lobster bisque that you "reconstitute" yourself (no creams or butters- only olive oil. And adding lobster meat is an additional $6), and both the beef carpaccio and tartare. Entrees werevSea bass, Dover sole and a whole Branzino filleted tableside. Desserts are equally plentiful or as light as a taste of one with a cup of coffee. Something for all"

  • "We had brunch there with my friend on sunday and the food/drinks were delicious. Hugo, one of the managers welcomed us and made us feel at home in that trendy spot we had been told about so many times. I particularly recommend the truffle fries and the mix of deserts they offer. The drinks were very tasty as well (One of them in particular: the Summer en Provence). Great service, good food, tasty drinks and classy ambience. We'll definitely come back!"

  • "This is definitely a hot spot of Newport to hit the social scene. The food is very good, we ordered the oysters, several other dishes to sample. Fortunately as we were there to catch up on past times we were seated in the room behind the bar. Open and sunny, not so noisy. Don't think I'd go back on a Friday night but this is how Newport is on Friday nights...out to impress. Would go another time on a different day for sure. Four stars only because it was so crowded and noisy."

She text me although I was seated next to hostess stand and when I approached to say I'm ready she said wait I just text you. Cocktail waitress turned into a sour puss when we asked for the bottle of wine to be transferred to our table and became passive agressive. Waiter I belive his name was Marco was pleasant and food tasted fine. The paella which they claimed was authentic was not. Rice was mushy like and over cooked risotto and there was no crust on the bottom. The taste was fine though. All items on the seafood platter were good except the lobster tail which tasted like water!!! Looks like it's was boiled 8 unseasoned water and had parted all falvor"

  • "This was our first trip to Newport Beach. To celebrate our wedding anniversary, I went looking for the good restaurants online and among the locals. I found the search depressing. Many highly rated (and expensive) places, but mostly "steak and seafood" restaurants with limited seafood selections. Then I found Fig & Olive. The few reviews (it's fairly new) were very good and the online menu was accurate, complete and showed the prices (often not the case with expensive eateries). If you like Mediterranean food (and what's not to like), Fig & Olive is excellent! We will definitely come back. Nothing negative except a bit noisy once the business groups started drinking."
