Diner Reviews
  • "That's really it. The food was terrific. I had truffle mushroom croquettes and the Mediterranean branzino, then split the dessert sampler. Everything was terrific. My companion had the lobster salad and seriously considered ordering a second one to take home. This place is worth a try."

  • "I have dined at the midtown location and had a stellar experience. I expected a similar experience at this location. Great neighborhood. Visually very attractive, both the decor and the patrons. Youthful vibe. Seating very cramped. Noise level not conducive to normal conversation. Different vibe from the mid-town location. Food was typically very flavorful and appropriate portions. Ordered a few appetisers and they were all served simultaneously creating a challenging table arrangement which became an unpleasant dining experience. Overall, I will most likely not return. There are far too many options in this neighborhood to endure this less than satisfactory experience."

  • "Food is very good. 4 of us dined. We had the cheeses, olives, beef carpaccio & truffle mushroom croquettes to start. All fabulous. The mains were also good, especially the paella. The space is huge & attractive. We had a 7:00pm reservation & it was relatively empty. For some inexplicable reason, they wanted to jam diners into the smallest area possible. We asked to be seated elsewhere but were told they weren't seating guests in the more roomy areas of the restaurant so we were offered cramped or slightly less cramped. With regard to service it was good whilst we were eating but once the food was done it was practically impossible to get any attention for either a drink or coffee. Hoping it was an anomaly as food was great. Would try again."

  • "I have been to Fig & Olive a few times and I absolutely love it! the food is delicious, the fig with manchengo crostini is a must. I had brunch with my friend and the service was great, the waiter was very attentive and helped us with our drink selection."

  • "The Fig & Olive was outstanding. We enjoyed every bit of it, from the appetizers to our main course. The service was perfect. We would definitely go back again."

  • "My soon to be married friend and I went here for a girls night out. We were there early (7:15 reservation) and were seated immediately outside. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. We ordered 3 crostinis with the goat cheese and fig being our favorite. I ordered the Filet Mignon and my friend the Rosemary Chicken. Both were delicious but I think I liked the Rosemary chicken the best. Drinks were good. We got the sharing dessert and everything was great. Would definitely go back."

  • "Overall great experience. Desserts were weak, but meals and drinks were yummy. This is a high end chain that's offers a consistent above par experience."

  • "We have been to this restaurant several years ago, and were somewhat concerned about returning after reading some negative reviews. However, we found it perfectly delightful, with excellent, interesting food and attentive service in a lovely room."

  • "I have been to Fig & Olive Meatpacking before and the food is really scrumptious and so it's the ambiance. However, this time, the waiter gave us a pretty bad service, although late Sunday night restaurant wasn't busy at all. He was not acknowledged on the actual execution of the dishes, he was slow and never checked on us. He brought bread and olive oil with the entrees, after I asked 3 times. The berry crostata was scrumptious but had very little cream (custard?) in it. When I asked him if we could have more cream, he just brought a little pitcher of heavy cream... By the time we finished, I was too tired to complain with management."

  • "I loved the atmosphere at this location of Fig & Olive - very upbeat and lively; food was excellent; tables a bit close together though; service from the waitress was a bit slow; but kitchen service was excellent. Loved the different crostini as a starter; entire meal was delicious."

  • "It is a beautiful restaurant. The service was much improved from the first time I ate there. I tried the salmon tartar which was excellent. I would definitely go back."

  • "Food was good... Wine picked by waiter was perfection... But so noisy!!!"

  • "The space is beautiful, but it is a large place oriented for a tourist crowd. I felt rushed from the moment I sat down. I had barely looked at the drinks menu before I was being asked what I wanted. Neither my waiter nor the waitstaff had any sense of pacing and my dinner was constantly interrupted with water being poured and my being asked if I had finished my course yet. The waitstaff was clumsy and inexperienced. The goal of this place is to get as many diners in and out as possible each night. Appetizers and drinks were good.....main meal was not freshly made.....simply warmed up. I would never recommend this place and I will never return."

  • "After having dined at the two Fig & Olives uptown, we were looking forward to trying the Meatpacking District's version. What a contrast - this place is huge! It has to be at least 4 times the size of the other restaurants, so a lot of the charm and intimacy is lost. This is clearly more of a downtown, hip, trendy, energetic vibe. The food did not seem quite up to the standards we expected, but that might have been due to the difference in the ambience. Crostini were excellent, branzino was good, the tagine was disappointing."

  • "At noon everyone at Fig & Olive was ready to work; and my cousin and I had a wonderful prix fixe lunch at a place with beautiful, clean décor, comfortable seating, live herbs (especially rosemary) displayed throughout, intelligent, informative, overall very good service and attention to details in the food presentation. Each dish, such as my cousin’s Fig and Olive salad consisted of many (11) edibles: fig, apple, manchego cheese, tomatoes, walnuts, etc. She also enjoyed the Fig and Olive Chicken Tangine and Dessert Crostini. She also liked that you could buy the flavors, the oils and spices, at the front. Great gifts. We were also given postcards telling us what would be served during Summer 2014 Restaurant Week. Good thinking."

  • "It was our first time and not knowing what to order I asked the waitress if she could recommend something but her answer was quick and seemed like she didn't know what she was talking about. The food and the ambience was perfect just the service needs some polishing...."

  • "Average service but great food & environment. Definitely should look at improving their service to match the food & ambiance."

  • "We went to Fig and Olive for the first time and it was a wonderful experience all around. Our reservations were for 5:30 so the restaurant was fairly empty until 6 pm and it got very loud. The high ceilings didn't help, it only helped to carry sound further through out the dining room. I will return but it will probably be for lunch. This is not a restaurant to have a romantic, quiet dinner."

  • "Delicious food for bruch, but had to ask for things too many times--like coffee refill or extra yogurt. Restaurant is decorated very beautifully."

  • "Terribile service, unkind and cursory. Waiters cads."

  • "One of my favorite restaurants because of the food, but this time the service was horrendous. If I spend $400 for food and wine (which typically translates in a $80 tip) I expect attentive service. Not slow and sullen."

  • "Delicious food, but expensive. Worth it for a special occasion because it was so lovely. Everything was perfectly cooked. The flavors were lovely. The selection is almost overwhelming."

  • "My lady and I went there for dinner, and although the food was delicious, the service was lacking. We were prepared to have a nice, romantic time, but the restaurant had other plans for us. It was noisy, and the staff on several different occasions, crouched down between our table to take nearly a dozen photos for different photos. This was quite distracting with no regard shown.... The biggest disappointment was the speed and timing of our dishes. Everything came within minutes of each other. When my entree came the server MADE me move my appetizer so that I could eat my entree. I refused, so he did it anyway."

  • "We came all the way from autralia on a recommendation. We were served so quickly, we were out of there in 1 hr. It ruined the entire night. Our server was particularly unfriendly. Don't know if I would recommend it too anyone else. A real shame as the food was lovely."

  • "I and my wife had a very special night in Fig & Olive. Very good food, beautiful restaurant. Good service, but should give a little more attention to the table."

  • "After a long day in the city, this was the perfect place to go. The Piscine cocktail was outstanding and so refreshing, the fresh strawberries were such a simple addition, but made the drink absolute perfection! We ordered a few of the crostinis, including the goat cheese, caramelized onion and chive. Talk about a perfect blend of flavors! When it came time for my main meal, all I wanted was pasta! What do you know, Penne Funghi Tartufo! Large tender mushrooms, parmesan and amazing truffle olive oil sauce! Scrumptious! We also ended our meal with a little taste of the Chocolate Pot De Crème, a cool pot of chocolate mousse. The only drawback was how the seating for two can be at the end of a table for a larger group. Could affect the "mood"!"

  • "I received an email offer for 6 free crostinis with the purchase of any entree, which is obviously a great offer. My boyfriend and I decided to sit at the bar and split a few things. The crostinis and cocktails were delicious as always, and the bartenders were friendly and helpful with suggestions. We decided to split the Lobster Risotto, which was okay, though not very flavorful. Next time I will order something different. The ambiance was great and we had a lovely evening."

  • "This place is great to bring friends and have a fun time eating! I think that, because it was Father's Day, the staff was a little more attentive to the larger tables. Typically, every table receives equal treatment, so I will chalk this day's level of service to the overwhelming number of larger family group tables."

  • "We arrived, requested to sit outside but due to the popularity of the restaurant, did not have any luck. However, the interior is equally comfortable with a sheik ambiance. After being seated, we had a chance to look over the extensive wine list & mouth watering menu. The GASPACHIO soup is a MUST! The artichoke was also very good! As a main course we had the Sea Bass.. Let me tell you, it melted in our mouths! 5 Star presentation and preparation! For desert we had the chocolate soufflé, which is not your typical soufflé, but it's unique style and taste made it very worthwhile! Well worth going here! The staff is well trained and look after you. The sommelier there takes good care of the wines. They are opening a new location in Chicago! 👍"
