  • "I have no problem with service that can get delayed due to overloaded restaurant. That said, after nearly 55 minutes I asked the waiter "Do you need help in hunting the cow?" which made him realized that our steaks have not been out for a while. What's annoying is that you could get their attention very fast when you wanted to order wine or beverages. Very slow, when something seems to go wrong. Oh, actually great desserts. Too bad that the main dish arrived so late we could not really enjoy it. Redefine SLLLLLLOOOOOOW service."

  • "It's alright. I don't know what all the hype is about. The service was horrible. We went on a Saturday night and the waiter took 30 minutes to come welcome us, get our drink orders. He took another 30 min to take our food order. Then never checked on our table again until we called his attention for the check. Food was alright. I don't know what all the hype is about. There are better places with better service in the city."

  • "After being seated, the waiter informed me and my party that a "Restaurant Week" menu was not available. Too bad because when I booked it on Open Table, the RW menu was online, but what could I do, we were already seated. I was disappointed but we stayed anyway. Regular menu and cocktails a bit pricey but not bad. Ambiance was wonderful, food very good."

  • "The appetizer, TRUFFLE MUSHROOM CROQUETTE & the salmon tar tar were tasty, but the main dishes and desserts were disappointing. The 4 pieces of lamb chops were bland and the actual meat on it were quarter sized with mostly chunks of fat on it, for a 48 or 49 dollar dish on a regular menu you would think they would select quality meat, the dish also came with bitter over cooked eggplants and bland gnocchi. The truffle risotto was ok but served in a large plate with only about 5 oz of risotto in it. The desserts, CROSTIN, tasted like $2 strawberry pop tarts, the CHOCOLATE POT DE CRÈME tasted like bitter chocolate with a soup of melted sugarless icecream. My bill came out to $120 for 2, was not worth it for the quality of food served."

Each dish complimented the other, and flavors were unique and complex to any food lovers pallet. I am speechless, I don't know how to describe the absolutely memorable night I had there."

  • "We arrived 11:55am for a noon reservation, but told we couldn't yet. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks. Was that a ploy? The tables were set and staff milling around. At 12:20 we were seated. We ordered gazpacho soup and beef carpaccio for apps, filet mignon salad and penne with chicken entrees and dessert crostini. The food was exceptional! However, service was mediocre. Waiter continually walked around looking at the tables, but not once were we asked how everything was or, whether we needed anything else. Also, he removed the bread dish, but didn't ask if we wanted more; that would've been nice. We'd likely return, but if the staff was more thoughtful, we'd definitely return and give it a 5 star rating."

  • "If it was only based on location and ambiance then Fig & Olive would get 5-stars. Unfortunately, the food and drinks were not as great possibly because we did the restaurant week menu - though it's disappointing when a restaurant reduces its quality for the promotion. The only thing that I was impressed by was the variety of the restaurant week menu. The Salmon Tartar came in chunks and barely had any seasoning. The Filet Mignon was chewy and difficult to eat since I was given a butter knife to cut with. The worst part was the Bearnaise sauce and the dish lacked any sides so I was still hungry afterwards. The Chocolate Pot was probably the best part but it didn't save the meal. All in all, I wouldn't recommend going for restaurant week."

  • "Maybe we just happened to have a waiter who was overwhelmed or clueless but at a restaurant of this caliper pretty inexcusable. I brought a friend here after having having a couple of great experiences and was really embarrassed as our table was completely forgotten. Thank goodness for our adorable busboy who was the highlight of our night and totally got the fact that our waiter was clueless . Also the manager must have caught wind of the mishap and quickly stepped in to fix the situation. The lobster risotto was divine and the chicken ta jine too. So if you don't happen to get our waiter, beautiful restaurant and very hot place."

  • "Really disappointed with this visit to Fig & Olive in Meatpacking, after having been several times previously and really enjoying it. We were a table of four, all long time New Yorkers, but with accents from across the globe. The waiter incorrectly judged us as "clueless tourists" and the service was shocking. I informed him I was vegetarian and he snickered and literally said "well we don't do tofu here". So rude! My entree came with proscuito on it (he didn't warn me). Three of the wines we wanted were out of stock. Won't be going back."

  • "The ambiance, with tall ceilings and long windows and cool bar, with shelves of olive oil, is so cool. The hostesses were so accomadating and sweet. No attitudes as in many French resturants. And the service was top notch, even though it was resturant week, and they were packed! each bite, delectable...from the gazpacho, truffle crocettes, filet mignon with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables, to the chocolate cup dessert. I will recommend this hot spot as a NYC must do! Only drawback was the noise level but great to people watch."

  • "Great service and recommendations of wine and food choices. Service was at the right pace where it wasn't too slow(despite the crowd) or fast(didn't feel like we are being rushed to finish our food). My mum and I had their cocktails, one was cucumber vodka and another was passion fruit vodka base. It was delicious and have the perfect portions of alcohol to juice. The food was amazing, in particularly, the mushroom risotto and rosemary lamb chops. The lamb chops are cooked perfectly and portions were just right. For appetizers, you definitely want to try the lobster bisque if you like seafood and the truffle mushroom croquette is awesome(right amount of cheese that ooze out). We had chocolate pot de creme for dessert-craving for more."

There was plenty of choice for wines, in every price-category. The food was very good. We loved the chicken tajine and the choice of Cafe Gourmand. Service was excellent, and the bill was reasonable for what we got. We will definitely return here."

  • "I have been to F&G before and this was the least memorable time. Food is barely ok. The service is not good. I ordered soup and the waiter forgot to bring it. When I reminded him he brought it towards the end of my meal and the lobster bisque was too fishy tasting and smelling. The specialty cocktails are super expensive and very tiny with out any taste except for the specialty ingredients...way to sweet and on the cheesy side of sophistication. Very passé. The appetizers are large and do not leave room for anything else. One of the vegetable sides/apps had a funny taste and even my vegan/vegetarian friend didn't want to eat it. We sat outside and let's just say the sights and sounds of the meat packing district are an assault on the eyes"

This restaurant was one for my bucket list but because we were not even acknowledged by wait staff or management for a full 18 minutes after we were seated (only after I spoke up very frustratedly, TWICE) I almost got up and left. Except that Scott, our busboy, saved us from leaving by taking our drink order and being very attentive from then on. Thankfully the food was incredible. I tried to find the managers after the meal and roamed the restaurant for about five minutes while our waitress and the bartender stared and chatted and shot us evil looks. Luckily I found both of them outside smoking together when I left out of frustration. Never again."
