I've heard of Fig and Olive before and always wanted to check it out. Let me tell you, I am glad I did. Ambiance is amazing, food is great, signature cocktail drinks are good, and service is good. Needs work in some areas, but the time I made a cameo they may have been short handed. Overall, I was happy. My girlfriend liked the place as well. We enjoyed it! Oh, dessert? Chocolate soufflé was really good. I am not a huge dessert bloke, so for me to like it, you know its good. If you get a chance or want to woo that special someone…well, what are you waiting for?

Great menu, with so many interesting options that when you go for the first time it will be hard to choose what to have. Starting from the Crostinis and little bites all the way to the appetizers and drinks you will start really well. We tried the Crab and the Burrata And both were great. As for the appetizers, DON'T leave without trying the truffle and mushroom croquettes, they're incredible. In the meantime they will bring you a sample of olive oils with bread which makes you wonder why olive oil is not more popular than it is. And I had a very nice Branzino and fig combination at the end. Super attentive and nice service. Only note goes to the setting, which if it is nice and hip stays more on the cramped side, with very small tables.

Made a reservation for our wedding anniversary and was not dissapointed. Asked for a table in a corner with a candle and it happened. Food was fabulous, my wife was so taken with the menu she did not know what to order so she ordered lots of appetizers to be safe. Next time we are in the Big Apple we will go back. We were also given 2 glasses of champagne gratis, without asking. Thanks for a wonderful anniversary dinner.

My friends and I wanted somewhere further east than our usual to try a nice supper. I had seen Fig & Olive's menu at various times, so I decided to give them a try. I can't stress enough how lovely the dinner was for us all. Not a thing was ordered that was not wonderful. Every appetizer, every entree, every dessert was flavorful and filling. Two of us had the chicken tagine, and I highly recommend it. Robust and spicy but not overly hot to the tongue. You dress it yourself, so you have the wheel when it comes to the flavor. To finish, two of us also had the CAFÉ GOURMAND which is a choice of tea or coffee and a smaller version of one of their desserts. It was an absolutely perfect end to a wonderful meal. The service was impecible.

Food was outstanding - especially if you like small plates. The menu is seafood centric with and emphasis on figs and cheeses. As typical for NYC, the tables are very close together and it was somewhat noisy. Also, many were dressed very casually. Therefore, I wouldn't consider it a great date night or special occasion location, but the food was terrific.

Had brunch at Fig and Olive on Fifth on September 6. While the average service and the average food were fine for a Saturday afternoon brunch where the Company I was with was more important than the meal, the end of the meal caused me to never return. As we were paying out check, a man walked through the restaurant begging for money and he would not take no for an answer. Management, waiters and bartenders just stood there as if nothing out of the ordinary happened. Even after the beggar was finally escorted from the restaurant, he was outside waiting for you as soon as you left. I'm used to begging in NYC, but inside a supposed high class bistro? No thanks, not again.

Risotto with lobster was fantastic. Manager Branko was so nice, came to say hi, and asked about the service. Highly recommend this place.

Greeted by a hostess, genuinely friendly and willing to please. Nice relaxing drink at the bar. No rush to our reserved table. Tables seating was nice and not crowded together. Service was very good with the waiter giving some fine recommendations from the menu. The food was served in a timely relaxed fashion. From the appetizers to the desert all of the food was very tasty with the portion sizes just right. The pricing was moderate and indicative of the type of restaurant equal to those around the city. No price gouging here. Was it enjoyable? Absolutely. Was the food excellent? Absolutely. Would I go back? Absolutely. Would I recommend the Fig and Olive to a friend? Absolutely.

Went for dinner with a friend; have been for lunch a few times and the food is pretty reliably good. When we got seated upstairs, we had a waiter I've had before and I knew we were in for a long night. Ordered an artichoke appetizer which was served cold; I was expecting it to be hot and didn't eat it. Our waiter never came back to check on this (or dinner) to see if the food was okay. He also took a very long time to serve us and my friend had to request hot sauce from a different server because ours forgot she ordered it despite a full conversation about it. Dinners were both good (roast chicken and salmon) but the service really was lacking and very slow.

On our evening reservation I noted that we'd be celebrating our anniversary that day. When we arrived, the first floor section was empty but they seated us in the worst possible spot (front and center rather than in the rear or along the side). The servers were few on words and did not acknowledge our anniversary or make us feel special. The contemporary style food was good- I particularly liked my truffle croquette appetizer. Unfortunately we were informed the main course we'd wanted (branzino for two) was not available. What we elected to order was presented nicely, but the serving sizes were quite small considering their price. Overall, we were not favorably impressed. There are plenty of other dining choices in NYC.

A different type of menu and nice for a change but nothing to write home about. Crostini's were extremely small and not worth the 3 for 12. For not being super busy the meal took quite long to come. The staff seem a bit disorganized as there seemed to be quite a few people working there but not sure they worked well together. At the end of the day a different place and worth going but likely wouldn't go back.

The lamb chops were very good, but the chateaubriand was overcooked and a bit dried out. Similar experiences with the rest of the meals -- some good, some pretty ordinary or below average. Our waiter was knowledgeable and very attentive for a while but disappeared for stretches and completely for the last 15-20 minutes. We told him we were on a deadline because of going to the theater, so he brought dessert menus early so we could look at and order early to be timed with when we finished our main meal. But, after giving us the dessert menus he didn't come back to ask whether we wanted anything until it was the time we had told him we needed to leave.

met here on wed. pm-was pretty busy, glad we had reservations. ambiance was nice, sleek, modern. apps(crostini) were good. order 6 different kinds ($21) and vary it. the caramelized onion/cheese,crab and the shrimp ones were tasty. good start. The dinners were a little variable: the goat cheese ravioli with squash blossoms was very good, the truffle risotto excellent, chicken jardine flavorful, the branzino very-eh. peapods it came on were raw, not a great flavor if you're not expecting it and the fish only ok. i would not recommend the sangria. it sounds way good on the menu, but doesn't live up to it and i love sangria of all types. dessert warm choc souffle really a chocolate lava cake (good one, though), raspberry ice great.

i was meeting an old friend who was visiting nyc and i was looking for a nice place to meet up and have a chat. i looked in the area near her hotel (times square) and convenient for me too, i live uptown. fig and olive ended up being the perfect spot! it had a great atmosphere, was just far enough out of the spot light to not be over crowded with tourists. it had a fantastic menu selection with smaller plates if we just wanted a light bite and a cocktail, and unique tasty entrees too. the service was very good as well. i would highly recommend if you're looking for a fun, interesting place to take some out of towners, or just meeting up with friends. fig and olive will not disappoint! and i can't wait to check out the other locations!
