Fig & Olive - Fifth AvenueSpain and Italy in NYCLoved the food (taste and presentation) but the quantities are too small in some cases. The ravioli is literally 5 ravioli pieces, and the Creme brulee is the size of a Tequila shot glass.
Service was pleasant but could have been quicker5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThey are very busy duringThey are very busy during lunch, but the service was quick and the food was good. I would recommend their Fig and Olive salad.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent!Food is fresh and delicious. Service is friendly and efficient. Lovely atmosphere.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMLove those olive oils!!Great food but small portions! Staff members were friendly and helpful! Yummy appetizers with various olive oils and dipping breads.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day Surprise!I usually avoid meals out on Mother's Day as I find the service and food subpar...but our brunch at the Fig and the Olive was the opposite of my expectations. We chose it because the menu seemed good for our group and they did not jack up the prices as many did because of the holiday. All four of us loved our meals. The lobster bisque was lovely, my salad and chicken fresh and flavorful, drinks great, dessert delish, service very good. We will definitely return.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMI had the octopus to startI had the octopus to start and it was so thinly sliced and so good! We also tried the crab cakes. They are served as 3 tiny cakes. Delicious. My main course was the penne and it was outstanding. We also tried the lamb chops and they were a winner, too.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat foodWent for my mothers bday and we had a great time. Great ambiance. Lots of big groups at dinner. The chicken tagine had too much kosher salt on it. But the carrot soup was good and the mushroom appetizer was perfect. At our table two fishes were ordered and they were cooked to perfection.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMalways a crowd pleaserFood is always tasty and the olive oil and bread on the table is a nice touch. The portions seem to have gotten small over the last couple years.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the food and atmosphereOur family of 4 including seniors and a vegetarian were all happy at a leisurely brunch. Great atmosphere for lots of talk, and the desert sampler was outstanding.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic food, great service!Fantastic food, great service! The salmon crudo is a must. Fig crostini is a sweet start. We are never disappointed.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGood and healthy food forGood and healthy food for adults and children with quite some choice. Nice casual chic atmosphere. Very convenient if shopping on Fifth Avenue.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner before a ShowThis place was great! The atmosphere was impeccable and even though the restaurant had every table full, the noise level wasn't bad at all. The server did have quite a few tables towards the end, so the service slowed down considerably; however, it was still a great night over all.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMLight & InterestingWent in here early before heading out to a Yankee game. Good cocktails listed on the menu and a better martini when asked for. Every small plate we ordered was made with a different olive oil and showcased them nicely. Try the Crostini selections are varied and each one good. The Octupus was definitely different and worth it. Would be a great place to share small plates with.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a wonderful brunch (Saturday)Had a wonderful brunch (Saturday) with family. There was a bridal shower going on at the same time, but it presented no problem in terms of noise, service, or food. A lovely day!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMA truly fresh experienceIt seems you are eating somewhere on the Mediterranean. The food is really good, but it is the variety of dishes and their presentation that are so charming. Love the place.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had lunch at Fig & OliveWe had lunch at Fig & Olive - fifth Ave on a Wednesday around 12pm, it hadn't yet gotten too crowded and our table was ready right away. The atmosphere is great and the staff is very attentive. I had the Filet Mignon panini and it was delicious. I forgot to take the detailed check after I left, but they were able to email it right to me the next day. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will be going back in the future.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my first time atThis was my first time at Fig & Olive although I lived near the one on the UES when I lived at 63rd and Lex! Now playing tourist in Manhattan, a number of my friends recommended this place so I ventured to the one near 5th Avenue. I'm into salads but the waiter insisted we try the crostinis with a variety of toppings - he even picked their top three bestsellers for me and my guest. You pair those crostinis with a nice white wine and it is a lunch made in heaven! The shrimp and scallop salad wasn't bad either! I will definitely make a return visit whenever I'm back in Manhattan - quite a find! I can only hope that one day, a Fig & Olive will open in Washington DC!4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe Love This Place! We love this place! The servings are generous without being too much, the menu is exciting and the staff is attentive without being overbearing.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently goodAlways terrific to go for great salads and other entrees.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place but not for the frugal!Great service, really good food, amazing cucumber cosmos. A bit on the pricey end- my cod was a $39 entree which I thought was severely inflated.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMI have been to the restaurantI have been to the restaurant several times in New York and in Los Angeles and it is always consistent.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMMid-town valueGood service, flexible menu, and a clean, sleek environment makes this a good mid-town value.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing restuarant, deep complexAmazing restuarant, deep complex tastes in an amazing menu.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is such a fun place forThis is such a fun place for groups as you can order so many different things and share. Everything is incredibly flavorful.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AM(I decline this invitation(I decline this invitation to write a review, as I am not a professional critic/reviewer, and I am a committed believer in professionalism.)4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was superb. Would definitely go back.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMfantastic and flavorfulgreat place to join friends for a fantastic, flavorful meal!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I were delightedMy husband and I were delighted with the food and service. We both have special requirements, no dairy, etc. and the server was very attentive and helpful. The food was outstanding!
Thank you.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe always go to this restaurantWe always go to this restaurant when we are in this area and are never disappointed in our meal selection4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMNoisy if you are trying toNoisy if you are trying to talk. Food was outstanding especially the octopus appetizer and the barami fish.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a late Saturday lunchWe had a late Saturday lunch at Fig and Olive after a trip to MOMA, and five of our group of eight were older kids/teens. The food was fresh, beautiful and delicious and the service was excellent(even with so many kids at our table. We made a number of special requests due to dietary concerns and one person's pickiness, but the server and chef perfectly accommodated us without any fuss whatsoever. The rosemary bread and various olive oils were a big hit, and my sister in law said the burger was the best she's ever had. I will definitely go again, but next time without the kids. :)4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth visitingThis was recommended by Open Table and I am glad we ate here. The restaurant has a beige, warm decor with an energetic vibe. Front door staff very welcoming, and the service efficient and professional. We took advantage of a well- price fixed price 3 course meal for $45. The portions were just right to enjoy all courses without getting too full. Each first course was too good to share, a carrot vegan soup, truffle balls, and a salad. Main courses were good but I was partial to the paella, which had a nice presence of seafood with seasoned rice. Desserts were amazing, especially the crostini. With so many choices in NYC, you can get decision- paralysis, but this is a restaurant you will enjoy. PS- amazing libations as well.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMwith friends and thoroughlywith friends and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. we were a party of 4--2 of our meals were moderate in size, 2 of our meals were small, but we weren't expecting otherwise. for the price would not go on a regular basis.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good service unique platesVery good service unique plates fun vibe would go again. Nice menu fun4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMOur first visit. We will beOur first visit. We will be back. The dining room acoustics are great. You can actually have a conversation without having to scream.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe will always pay a visitWe will always pay a visit to Fig & Olive when weare in NYC!!! The best food and service and well worth the price, even our teenager loves the menu. The only negative, the leaving of the restaurant, we would love to take it with us.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMconvenient business locationany special but informal business outing can be accomodated here. good for only small groups, best for one on ones or not more than 4 as it may feel tight4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMa great night out!we had a delightful time. though the food was great, it wasn't really kid-friendly. although there were quite a few youngsters there. I guess some kids today have more mature palates. the service was fantastic. we'd definitely go again and recommend it to friends looking for a special night out.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMMixed FeelingsThe Easter brunch menu was somewhat disappointing in the following respects: Is it necessary to charge more for bread when the proce per person is $45 apiece? The crab caked entree was a crab cake patty with little flavor and the carrot cake althoough cute in presentation was simply a tease due to the petite nature of its size. Expected more based upon the reviews I read prior to booking the reservation and the 4/5 star rating it received.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently Wonderful!Yet another perfect brunch.... Food and service was impeccable.... The perfect place for Easter Brunch.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went to Fig & Olive onWe went to Fig & Olive on 52nd street for dinner to celebrate my mom's birthday. I do think that the dishes were a bit pricey, but everything was delicious. The veal dish on the menu was fried and breaded, which is not my favorite way to have veal so I would look forward to a change in the menu with that dish. The lamb chops were really delicious but know that you get only about 5 goat-cheese gnocchi, not enough for $39, but fine. The service was excellent and so were the desserts. Lastly, the olive oil was really great. You get bread and three different olive oil options. The herbed one was my favorite. So, in short, not my favorite restaurant in NYC but definitely a good one (there is a lot of competition!).3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWas the highlight of my tripWas the highlight of my trip to nyc. The best food i have ever had. Very romantic for my boyfriend and i.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat business lunch spotGreat business lunch spot and the staff was attentive with a focus on making sure you were out on time if inbetween meetings3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was a lovely experienceThis was a lovely experience from the reception of the staff, to the seating accommodations, to the service and finally the meal! It definitely needs a repeat. The food was exquisite, the portion was just right, the European way, not an overwhelmingly full plate. The desert was heavenly.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMReally good find - excellent food!Really good Italian/Mediteranian restaurant - that we found on Opentable. Good atmosphere, very serviceminded staff with genuine smiles and conversation. Would surely go back another time! Our food was extremely good and well prepared, and it was a joy to be able to follow the kitchen working.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMI've known about this restaurantI've known about this restaurant for a long time but never had a need for booking reservations there. Looking for a place near St. Patrick's Cathedral for a last minute date with out-of-towners, it was in the perfect location and just happened to have a slot for a 2pm reservation. That was a stroke of luck! The food was magnificent! Not surprisingly, figs and olive oil were in the spotlight, but oh how deliciously incorporated into the menu! Fig tartlet...fig salad...and a breadbasket to die for...It was perfection!
Let's not forget the bar menu ~ large portions & unique selections! What could be better? I will definitely return to this restaurant in the very near future. It's just
wonderful.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the food, the service,Loved the food, the service, and the atmosphere. We ordered a variety of crostini's, the cheese board, the fig gorgonzola tarlet, dinner and desserts. My friend had the lobster bisque. That was the only item that was meh. BUT, in defense of the restaurant, the description told me it wasn't the typical bisque my friend usually likes so I think it was an unexpected taste for her. We were looking for a restaurant with vegetarian and nonvegetarian options. This fit the bill completely. No one felt slighted infact the nonvegetarians ate vegetarian crostini's and totally enjoyed them. Yummy! The dinners won rave reviews too. We had sea bass, fettucini shrimp marscapone and the veal milanese. All outstanding! thanks for a lovely evening!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMFig and Olive is Awesome! This is our second evening at Fig and Olive. Unfortunately there was a very loud party and it was difficult to hear our guests but the food was delicious again. We would certainly return. The service is great and we love the olive oil tasting options.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThey went over and beyond!!My daughter and I went to lunch on a weekend trip to New York. My daughter had been to Spain several years prior and had fell in love with Iberican Ham. We had noticed that the FIg and Olive had Iberican Ham on their menu and were very excited to have some. We found out however, that the ham was not on the Saturday menu. That's when our fabulous waitress stepped in and worked with the kitchen staff to deliver a beautiful plate of Jamon Iberico to our table. The food and the service were amazing!!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMScrumptiousI went with a group of 6. We all ordered something different so we could try several menu items. 4 of the 6 were outstanding 1 was good and 1 was not tasty. I would go back anytime. The ambiance was wonderful! I truely enjoyed our evening and loved the fact that we were not rushed at all. I am sure the wait staff is told to be attentive but not overbearing! Also loved that I could get a glass of a fine champagne without having to buy the whole bottle!!! That's a plus plus plus for me!!! Thanks for a wonderful time fig and olive.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
