Diner Reviews
  • "Had dinner here on April 14th. Excelent food, great atmosphere. My only complaint is about the air conditioner which seemed to be off. Don't miss the crostinis. For fig lovers they are a must!"

  • "Very pleased with our delicious meal. Scallops appetizer and apple tart dessert were both fabulous. Lamb chops were delicious and served beautifully. Attentive service and great decor. We were seated downstairs, but will request an upstairs table next time. "

  • "I've been to Fig and Olive - Fifth Avenue several times now. While I can say it can't hold a candle to most downtown restaurants at this price point, there is little selection of decent restaurants in this area that are casual yet chic. The risotto has been my staple go-to dish and it is usually quite good--nothing special, but respectable. "

  • "The food at Fig & Olive is indeed very good; possibly the crostini are their best work, and since that's the opening course, one gets an immediate impression of being in the right place to eat well. The self-conscious foodieness of it is a bit over the top. They're quite enamored of their talents as curators of ingredients. Steeply priced, especially the wine list."

  • "Disappointing food, based on reviews. Nicely greeted, yet lots of bustling activity + srvc spotty/worse. Lge bread plates removed before table-poured soup while friend still up MAJOR stairway in loo. Don't get chicken salad - thin, tough STRIPS that couldn't be cut! So thin, really not much chicken anyway. Substituted cod entree, very salty. Though pot de creme was good, not offered more ice tea nor coffee at dessert, and more. BE CAREFUL about bill, where suggested tips on our split into 2 credit cards listed the tip amounts based on the TOTAL bill, not the 1/2 for each! y. And, no, they were not too busy to shine at 2:30 in the afternoon!"
    Dined on 4/17/2014
  • "Too noisy, 1 hour wait for the food! food was very good but the wait just ruined everything - maitre'd was nice, he got us appetizers and deserts for the long wait."
    Dined on 4/12/2014
  • "Came in at 230 was seated right away. Waiting 25 minutes for a waiter to approach us. We then waited for 40 minutes to get our food. Worst service I have seen."
    Dined on 4/13/2014
  • "We had one member of our party with special needs and they handled with grace and adjusted our seating. Nice staff and good food! only comment - fyi need to order breads a la carte. Good coffee, too!"
    Dined on 4/13/2014
  • "Really good for brunch and for lunch! Food is great! Restaurant is nice, simple, good ambience!"
    Dined on 4/13/2014
  • "We had a very good meal. The service was great. One couple ordered the chocolate soufflet for dessert and that was a winner. The apple tart was also wonderful. We were able to relax and enjoy our friends. Would definitely come back."
    Dined on 4/12/2014
  • "The brazino with figs and mashed potatoes was delicious. We loved the service of rosemary bread and olive oil choices."
    Dined on 4/13/2014
  • "The hostess was frosty. The service was both speedy and careless. Although the lobster bisque was good, the crab cakes were stale and had no discernible crab flavor. The apple tart was blazing hot, melting the ice cream on top. Altogether, a truly unpleasant experience."
    Dined on 4/10/2014
  • "I booked this restaurant based on it being perfectly located close to a meeting I had on Madison Avenue. The food was fabulous - it was an adorable place filled with charm and energy! I highly recommend it."
    Dined on 4/11/2014
  • "I took my girlfriend here for her birthday, and had a thoroughly enjoyable time. The staff were friendly and the food was really excellent. The truffle risotto was particularly tasty."
    Dined on 4/11/2014
  • "Food and wine choices were excellent. The only bad note was that our server seemed to be in a hurry to push us from the table."

  • "The good at fig and Olive is outstanding. I suggest you do NOT sit upstairs. It is very loud and uncomfortable. Ask to sit on the first floor.. Otherwise great Resturant"

  • "Bit noisy but overall we enjoyed. My fiancé and i we enjoyed the wine knowledge of our server George as a real professional sommelier.Food suggestions were excellent too.The food was great and had a real Mediterranean taste.First time on Fig and Olive but not the last for sure."

    Dined on 4/9/2014
  • "Stylish restaurant, tasty food and reasonable especially for this part of Manhattan. The scallop appetizer is very tasty. The salads are big and varied. However, with the salmon/shrimp salad, the salmon was average tasting - nothing special. Paninis were very good. Smooth, nice service.."

  • "Found this nice place close to the hot spots on 5th Avenue. Had some really nice appetizers and a bottle of wine. Prices for a decent bottle were quite high. Liked the service and the atmosphere though."
    Dined on 4/5/2014
  • "The food was delicious and the ambiance was great. It's nice to find a spot right off Fifth that doesn't feel touristy. My only complaint was that the bathroom was not up to the same standard. There was an overflowing wastebasket in the ladies' room with tissues and paper towels all over the floor. Other diners were commenting on it as I walked in the door."
    Dined on 4/5/2014
  • "The wait staff was not intuitive as it has been once before. Too bad the servoce level is n ot consistant. I had to actually wave down the wait staff, three times."
    Dined on 4/5/2014
  • "We're there with my family party of four, ordered four dinners and only three came out. The service was unbelievably slow. The food was just average and did not justify the price. There are tons of better restaurants in the city that are worth the price."
    Dined on 4/5/2014
  • "Food was fantastic -- wonderful choices and excellent services. Bustling atmosphere."

  • "I've eaten here before and everything was great. Not this time. The restaurant was rather empty when we arrived and when I asked for our table for two to be moved away from kitchen we were moved upstairs against the cold window this after passing ten empty tables. Our mimosas were awful and needed to be remade. The server was totally in attentive. The server at the next table was presenting all the food. Telling the diners the diff types of oils the diff types of crostinis. Our server just put it on the table. The food was very good. Nothing else was"

  • "First of all, I love Fig &Olives. I have been to UES and Westchester location bunch of times. This is the first time I went to the 5th avenue one. Food and ambience were great as we expected, but the waiter was not great at all. He was little older which I thought was a good sign of him having experience. Actually, he was not friendly and the service was minimum. Even when I asked couple of questions, he just told us to look at the menu instead of explaining the dishes for us. I was a bit surprised and embarrassed because I took my special friend who was visiting from Japan and I wanted that to be a special treat for my friend. Although I love Fig&Olives, I don't think I would go back to this particular location in the future."

  • "I made a reservation and still had to wait 20 minutes for a table. The noise level is very high at lunch time - it's uncomfortably loud. Service was good and the food was good, not great. It's very convenient to my office so I like to go to Fig and Olive, but I am not happy my experience there."

  • "One of my all time favorite dinners. Great waiter. Every bite was as good as the last!!"

  • "Enjoyed dinner before theater. Short cab ride from theater district. Good choice of appetizers, crostini were delicious. Had the zucchini blossom ravioli which were very good; thought the tagine could have more flavor but it was good. The ambiance is upbeat and the waiter was very attentive and helpful. Will definitely return."

  • "Was disappointed in table offered us, but service was excellent, food different and delicious. Price fixe menu was well-done, had many of regular menu choices. Liked that there was no hurry up and seat the next diners. Would go back again!"

  • "It is always a pleasant surprise to find good food near Times Square, that isn't Italian. If you are a lover of fine olive oil, this is the place for you. Try the olives marinated in a variety of herbs. The crostini was divine. The carrot and beet appetizer, marinated in harissa spices, were wonderful. The chicken tagine was average, needing more spices."
    Dined on 3/29/2014
  • "Loved the food, wine and atmosphere. I only wish there was one in Boston."
    Dined on 3/29/2014
  • "We came and stayed in Manhattan for the weekend (we live in NJ) because we had activities on Saturday and Sunday. Knew the name "fig and olive" and thought we'd give it a try. Loved the crostini appetizers! I had the Moroccan chicken with apricots and cilantro which was very good. My husband had the paella, which apparently was also good, although not a typical Spanish version. The wine and coffee were good, and the wait staff were excellent. Thank you for a wonderful evening"
