The one downside to this spot has always been the crush of people at the door-- a good sign that it's popular, but not a very warm greeting or a comfortable atmosphere to walk into. That has been MUCH IMPROVED recently, as they've started to seat people more efficiently, and eliminated much of the wait time that builds up the crowd at the host desk. Makes for a much better start to a great dining experience.

Went here for brunch and ordered from the prix fixe menu. I had the fig and olive salad (good), the penne funghi (very good) and the chocolate mousse (excellent). They don't serve bread. Service is slow. The place was nice.

Went to Fig & Olive at 5th for dinner on a Friday night. Had reservations and was seated immediately. Seating is so close together it is hard to even put your coat on the back of your chair. That aside, there are a ton of fun food options and all were delicious. Expensive, but great!

We lived in NYC for many years and our daughter was born here. We've been in Boston for the past few years and were back to Manhattan to meet up with friends from Baltimore and celebrate our daughter's 12th birthday. I found Fig & Olive online and took a chance. What a great pay off! the food was excellent, service was great and there were so many wonderful choices on the menu that everyone was happy. The Zucchini Carpaccio was delicious as was their signature Moroccan chicken dish. We will definitely be back!

Went with my girlfriends for an early dinner. Having a Prix Fix at $45 was a nice surprise at $45. Disappointed that they had run out of the Burgundy at $48, as it was one of the few choices under $50 - waiter suggested we buy the $125 bottle (normally waiters have more sense to keep you in your price range). Food was good, but waiter kept coming back interrupting our conversation with banal statements such as " do you like this" or "do you like that" - it was clear we were in a conversation and he had little sensitivity to timing. Overall restaurant was very energetic, beautiful setting, interesting food - I had crab cakes (which were OK but not great) and paella - the food looked beautiful tasted fine- and I would give it a try again...

Tickets at Radio City 4:00 called restaurant prior to 2:30 reservation and informed waiter of time restriction assured by all there would be no problem. I also asked if we had time for the prix-fix brunch and was again told no problem. Other than water no food was served until 3:00 everyone except those that ordered the prix-fix left the restaurant at 3:40. The dessert for the prix-fix arrived at 3:45 and we fortunately had prepaid the bill and had to sprint to Radio City. The food was outstanding.

Great food that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Unfortunately our waiter was much more concerned with the large party next to us and often would forget things, mix up our dishes and keep us waiting an exorbitant amount of time. There were other waiters standing around who jumped in to help, so I think service is usually good, he was just terrible. Thankfully we weren't in a rush and just were enjoying a lazy Sunday. Definitely will be back!

Our server was excellent, but she never shared her name! Crostini choices were delicious; my husband's crab cake eggs benedict was very good, just a little heavy on the garlic. The server accommodated my husband's request to substitute the potatoes with figs without issue. My Truffle Mushroom Fontina Scrambled eggs was rich and savory...if you order, caution on the truffle oil, they over poured for my taste. We found it odd that a nice place such as this did not offer dark napkins, just a pet peeve of ours!

We had seen the name F&O and didn't really want a "chain" restaurant meal. We are SO glad we went. The crostini and assorted cheese apps were fantastic. My wife raved over her pumpkin ravioli and we finished the evening with one of the best chocolate soufflés we've ever had. The shallow depth of the ramekin allowed you to have crunchy crust and warm oozing soft soufflé inside with every bite. The ice cream had a hint of orange which gave the dessert the perfect balance. We will be back.

Have dined here 2 times before with excellent result. On this visit to NYC expected nothing less. No problem getting seated. Not prime dinner time yet. Ordered drinks. Took very longtime for them to come. They came after salad was nearly half finished. Very little salad in bowl. Must be saving up for the Primetime Friday night crowd. Ordered a pasta dish. Wife ordered soup. First go around brought wrong soup. When they brought right one it was completely cold. I ordered a dish with pasta. Pasta difficult to show not cooked properly. Very disappointed this time after two previous excellent visits in last 18 mths. Slow service, bad food value, results in bad review

On a trip to MoMA, we decided to have lunch before venturing in to the Matisse exhibit. Fig and Olive was the perfect place to go. It is close to the museum, attractive, they honored our reservation (although they neglected to tell one of our party that the rest of the party was seated), the food presentation is attractive, the menu is creative and the the quality of the food is quite good for the price point.

food was good/ok but a very tired menu. Good selections of appetizers and entrees but then they are covered in sauce or cheese. And Paella cannot be made in 15 minutes; possibly made earlier in the day and then warmed up?? Plenty of other options in NYC to choose from until they get some updates. expensive cafeteria style place at the most...

Been visiting Manhattan for 28 years - best dinner ever. The Crostini's are delightful, the main course was excellent and the desserts were to die for. Only negative was the noise level due to popularity and the two adjacent tables having people who of some reason used their 'outside voices' over dinner! But that was not the fault of the restaurant. The Lamb was beautifully served and the Lobster Risotto was the best my wife had ever had - and we have traveled! A must go.

First time here and was very satisfied. Staff was very attentive and knowledgeable. The menu combined a nice mixture of standard fare (burgers) with more dynamic dishes (thyme infused lamb chops). The paella was superb and the lamb outstanding. Definitely a treat. It was a bit pricy but nothing outrageous considering it is in midtown.

I requested a quit table preferably at a window through the open table reservation system and we got a perfect corner location. Good is very good and service is professional. They catered to us with enough attention and give us respectful privacy to carry a conversation without any rude interruptions. If you need a business meeting or don't won't to be overheard, make sure you make a special request. The table are very close to each other, the restaurant is busy and the chances are you will be almost elbowing your neighbor. Special requests are well respected though.

This was my third or fourth visit to this F&O location. My table was ready with immediately. The receptionist was very kind and courteous. My guest and I had a cocktail each. And they we excellent followed by the crostini tasting and the beeffect tartar. Both were beautiful plates to look at. For lunch we had the lamb skewers and the burrata salad. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave us a few or favorite dishes as recommendations. Then for dessert we had the pot de creme and the dessert crostini. I am really blown away by how awful eating here was - from the food to the service, everything was a total fail for the four of us. Our waiter was terrible. He could care less and was surly and inattentive. He never smiled or asked us how we are. Getting coffee was an ordeal. Placing an order took forever. The food was just as nasty - my poached eggs were overdone and tasted sour. The chicken sausage was overly sweet. Other things were bland (zucchini carpaccio) or under seasoned (salmon tartar) or even inconsistent - two diners ordered the same salad and it came with different ingredients! This place had more of an "Olive Garden" feeling in food/service than a high end Italian restaurant on 5th avenue.

We had a reservation for 1pm. We arrived right on time. There was a line just to check in with the hostess, so by the time we did that it was about 1:10pm. Then she just had us standing there waiting for another 5 minutes (1:15pm), and when I asked when we would be seated, she said some tables were close to paying, so another 10 minutes or so. What was the point of making a reservation? It was a weekday business lunch, so we didn't have unlimited time, and had to leave and go somewhere else.

We unfortunately we're seated at the worst table, right next to the silverware/bread station. If the partition wall separating us from this annoyance was a mere 18" higher we would have been happier. My guest and I both ordered Martinis, alas, they were out of martini glasses. Everything was served in a wine glass, odd. The food was very good. The truffled mushroom croquettes were excellent, sea bass cooked to perfection. The veal Milanese was very good, particularly the marscapone sauce. Stephon, our waiter, was great.
