  • "Went for Restaurant Week dinner. The portion was unexpectedly generous. Appetizer - Salmon tartar was quite filling, very fresh and well flavoured Entree - Chicken Tajine was so flavourful and the combination of sides and other elements was thoughtful. Chicken was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Very delicious! Dessert - Chocolate pot de creme was very rich and tasty, perfect end to a perfect meal. The service was great other than having to wait a few minutes to be seated."

  • "I had a fun, memorable lunch at Fig & Olive, although the food was mediocre. The restaurant was packed and having a reservation was key to quick seating and service--I also didn't expect it to be perfect during busy Restaurant Week. My disappointment was in the food, which all sounded delish--lobster bisque, filet mignon salad, and strawberry-something-sweet on a cookie dessert, but none of it was worth recommending or ordering again. The soup was bland and all puréed (no lobster pieces) and the steak was dry and overcooked. I would give this restaurant one more try for lunch only because the location is convenient and perhaps it's better when it's not Restaurant Week?"

  • "The food was fantastic, and we sat down in a comfortable spot at the top. I hate it when meats aren't cooked to my specification, but EVERY dish was cooked perfectly. Medium rare was actually medium rare. Our server was also really attentive. The lambchops were, in particular, out of this world."

  • "Everytime we dine here it never disappoints. The food is wonderful every bite is a treasure. We usually ask for the 2nd floor with Stephan. He was not there on our last visit but our server was outstanding as well!!! They are helpful with the seasonal menu with suggestions. I would highly recommend a stop here if you are from out of town you will not be disappointed. We love the location to take a walk after a beautiful meal."

  • "We went for restaurant week lunch and were sat on the entrance floor. Our reservation was for 1:00 and we had to wait for about 20 minutes to be seated. Not the greatest when you're on your one hour lunch break. Way too noisy on the entrance floor. We could barely hear ourselves talk. Almost had to scream. The service was good, the food was delicious. I would go back but request upstairs seating. I understand it's a lot quieter up there."

  • "We picked this restaurant based on its ratings and we weren't disappointed! How amazing! The only complaint would be the noise level is a little loud which we didn't mind too much. But I can see how it would take away from a date. We started out with the cheese platter which was very tasty. For dinner we had the sea bass and mushroom truffle risotto. Yummy! Absolutely amazing and flavorful. Can't wait to go back. Staff was very accommodating and friendly."

  • "Early dinner at 5:30pm, nice table near the window, overall service & ambience great. I don't eat meat very often, but decided to try and old favorite, lamb chops-medium rare. Well presented and flavorfull, but cooekd medium to well. Server gave me an option to re-do the order. I wanted to enjoy this the way (i belive & they reccommended) is ideal. Round 2 came out mostly cooked correctly, one was piece was pretty rare, and all barely had any of the flavor (hardly bothered seasoning it) as the first order. Almost bland, with the exception of the beautiful rosemary twig. Wasn't memorable enough for me to crave the food-which usually makes people return to a restaurant. May be a one-off, it's too bad. My friend said her meal was good."

A good selection of interesting cocktails and great crostini appetizers - order an assortment of 3 or 6 and share! Several great entrees but the simple chicken with roasted potatoes and ratatouille was amazing."

  • "MMMMMM, because there are three Fig and Olive locations, one would think that they could figure out a better check-in system;needing a 12pm reservation, we arrived exactly on time, and because of space (check in is RIGHT inside the door) it was very cramped;the place was VERY crowed for sure,as it's a great place to meet up in midtown; but what do they do in winter? There is just so much of a bottle neck; also, we were asked if we wanted crostini or olives before we ordered;I said olives as I thought we would have the other for starters; they were $6 on menu;OK, but I think this should be stated; bowl was large soI said it was too big for 2 people (it was)and got a touch of attitude on this; food is very good and a really happening scene!"

The acoustics were really bad though, my dining companion and I practically had to kiss before we could hear each other. Find out when they're not crowded, and go at that time."

  • "I have been to all of the Fig & Olive restaurants in Manhattan over the past few years and have never been disappointed with the food. This time I was. The crab & tomato appetizer was very good, but while the goat cheese ravioli was tasty, the other emulsion/confit did nothing to add to the dish. And the zucchini blossoms were hard and seemed like they'd been sitting around for a while. My guest had the yellowfin tuna which she said was good, but I noticed that she had to cut out a rather large piece of tendon from her portion. In the dessert department, don't change a good thing - the strawberry dessert crostini served now doesn't hold a candle to the pistachio shortbread/mascarpone/amarena cherry version I've had previously."

Is a great spot for those looking for an easy midtown East/West location in the 50's, and it also offers a very excellent prix fixe lunch option as well, which I always choose from as there are many solid choices available. (I especially recommend the lobster bisque and crab salad appetizer.) Portions are modest, and the service has always been right on -- polite, proper and efficient. All in all, Fig & Olive is a spot I will continue to return to."

Waiter answered many questions with "I don't know" but didn't offer to go find out unless prompted. Disorganized bus staff seemed generally disinterested in their work.   • "We had a great dinner with friends at Fig and Olive. The food is creative and the menu is inspiring. We had a cheese plate that was incredible, well priced wine and beautiful entrees. The only reason I did not give it a five of five is the branzino was dry and it was paired with baked figs halves which felt a bit clumsy. I loved the figs, but it was difficult to mix the flavors into one bit and the figs overpowered the fish."

We had a reservation and it appeared that we were about to be seated at a nice, round table near a window but ultimately found that a group that had walked in pretty much demanded that they be seated there (they arrived at the same time as we had but were in front of us in greeting the host(ess)); we ended up with two 2-person tables pushed together and it worked out. Food was great. Service was very good."
