Diner Reviews
  • "We loved the food our first night there that we went back on our last evening in Miami. We definitely loved it!!!"

  • "I had the lamb shank tagine and it was absolutely delicious. The meat was melt-in-your mouth tender. My SO had the lemon chicken tagine which was also delicious. Some entrees come with no sides so be sure to ask before ordering."

  • "We came here during a conference in Miami, hoping that it was a hot spot. Turns out, the place was completely empty. However, their food was really, really outstanding so can't complain much."

  • "First time in Miami, used Open Table reviews to chose this location. Did not disappoint!! On the quiet end of Espanola Way. Great for a quiet dinner away from the noise. Amaizing food and Great Service. We had a quiet dinner and then enjoyed the chaos of Espanola Way after we had a quiet dinner."

  • "A great alternative in Española Way. Most restaurants in this part of South Beach are nice for the ambiance but not renown for the food. This is a great location to eat in Española way, but not risk ending in a tourist trap."

  • "Great food, service and venue at the quiet end of the street."

  • "We were in Miami Beach on Valentine's Day, and Fez's Moroccan cuisine made for a memorable dinner: The movie Casablanca was projected on the wall all during our dinner. Located on Espanola Way, Fez was quietly busy. We were happy to see that the menu offered a wide selection of cold and small plates as well as large entrees (tangines), because we like to try new things. Four small plates proved plenty for two of us. Not all are Moroccan; we had the foie gras (well presented), the duck confit in phyllo (nice but too much of it), the grilled octopus (needed a little more flavor), and the lamb belly (our favorite). The food was very good and I'd like to experiment here more! Service was attentive but the dishes came a bit too quickly."

  • "This is our fourth trip back to Fez on Espanola Way. And they continue to amaze. I had the Chicken Tagine this time just to try something maybe a little less special than the Seabass or the Lamb Shank. But the Chicken didn't disappoint. It was delicate and flavorful and just as much a treat as the other entries I've had on past visits. We had grilled octopus for an appetizer and the scallops. All great. Parking was easy in a little valet lot at the corner of Pennsylvania and Espanola with a short quiet two minute walk to the restaurant. I continue to struggle to name a restaurant in Miami with better food. Cant wait to go back and selfishly hoping they open another Fez but in the Grove."

  • "Good selection of reasonably priced wines added to the delicious preparations served by an attentive and cordial staff."

  • "This was second time at Fez. Don't know when I will return. The menu is too limited to encourage frequent visits. I appreciate keeping menu simple. But, perhaps a daily special would help with the variety."

  • "The Fez is a little bit off the main dining street in South Beach, but don't let that deter you. It was absolutely awesome! The Chef is Moroccan and the food was delish. Besides the food, one of the most fun parts of the restaurant, is watching old movies, which Morocco is featured, that project on the wall behind the bar (no sound.) While we were dining "Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves," was on the screen. What a hoot. The movie was in color and was made in 1944."

  • "We enjoyed our dinner ver much! They do have a liquor license now, so we enjoyed some tasty cocktails! We started with a delicious trio of pureed delicacies like pepper, hummus and eggplant...oh so yummy! For a main course we enjoyed sea bass and lamb shank...we ordered roasted veggies on the side - a really great choice! We hardly had room for dessert but we ordered the chocolate moose and I am so happy that we did! I also suggest ordering the tasty mint tea...beautiful presentation and mild! A memorable night with the black and white Bogart/ Bergman classic as entertainment!"

  • "I've eaten Moroccan food in France, US and Morocco. The food served at Fez is truly the real deal. Right now, if authentic food is your goal, the is the place. Unfortunately for these guys, they are having difficulty navigating the permitting process for sidewalk dinning, liquor permit (they do have beer and wine) and advertising in general. As a result, the place was almost empty (albeit a Monday night) which was really too bad. The food was awesome. I hope they last long enough to resolve their bureaucratic issues because this restaurant stands firmly on its food. BTW, ambience sweeps one away to Casablanca."

  • "Amazing modern moroccan food. Authentic yet updated. Beautiful and fun small dishes. The octopus is the best I ever had!"

  • "The food was horrible our server did a nice job I didn't give service a 5 star because of the host/ manager who gave only one table attention all night he never came over to ask how we were doing until he found out I didn't have not even the first bite of my food ...even though he was present on the floor for the entire time focusing on one table ....other than that service was good ...No to the food!!"

  • "Very nice place, great decor, service and food. The foie gras was really good and generously served. The chicken tagine was perfectly cooked and the mint tea was like a journey in morocco."

  • "A nice peaceful dining experience in contrast to Miami club-music-as-background typical. Had an oasis like effect."

  • "Service was the best. Lamb belly to chicken tagine delightful. Great assortment of tasty items on the menu for Moroccan food fans. Would recommend to a friend."

  • "Fez is a great neighborhood gem off the otherwise touristy strip of Espanola way. Fez is the ONLY Moroccan restaurant in Miami so don't miss it! My husband had never tried Moroccan food before, and was very pleased. We shared a refreshing heirloom tomato salad with feta and a unique mint dressing. My favorite dish was the Bastilla, made with duck confit and with just the right touch of sweetness and cinnamon to make it memorable but not overpowering. The chef, from Casablanca, came out to explain to us that Bastilla is a dish traditionally served at weddings. We also had the lamb shank tagine, another excellent dish, wish vegetable cous cous. The service was warm and helpfui. We enjoyed the Moroccan mint tea and flan. We left happy!"

  • "Espanola is a gem of SoBe and Fez is perfect for the street. Set next to another favorite, A La Folie, this place has great ambience and excellent food. We loved it and will tell our friends to give it a try."

  • "We 've enjoyed dinner at new years. Every course was a treat! You can taste that the chef uses great quality and fresh ingredients. Especially the lobster on couscous and the panna cotta desert with fruit was excellent with balance in different flavours! The lobster sauce served with the seabass was a bit too salt for us, so we left a few drops unlike the other courses. Staff is very friendly and adapted to our wishes! We sat very close to out neighbours, but still we've experienced a romantic dinner for two. And there plenty other seats to sit further apart from other guests. We liked that the place is at Espanola way, place to be in South Miami Beachh, but not in the first most crowded block, so the noise wasn't that bad."

  • "We were excited to try this place after all the positive reviews. We really like Moroccan food after a great vacation there recently and were enticed by the comments that the food is very authentic. Unfortunately our experience was bad in every way. The service was confused and inattentive and it took an hour for the first appetizer to arrive. The food that did arrive was underwhelming at best. The octopus was literally inedible, while our other dishes ranged from OK (beet salad, lamb's belly, bastille) to pretty good (the Merguez). To their credit, they were apologetic about the service and gave us a discount on the bill. Given all the positive comments, we're hoping that this was just an off night, but it was all around BAD!"

  • "Our evening was an outstanding experience. I was amazed at the romantic and inviting ambience in Fez. The modern arabian decor with subdued, yet ample lighting lends itself to a romantic evening with someone special or a special evening with a group of friends or associates. Vince and his Service staff provide complete, yet unintrusive service. Each course which arrived at the table was attractive and delicious. Classic Morrocan cuisine mixed with modern techniques of preparation lends itself to an evening of culinary adventure and pleasure. Executive chef and restaurant owner, Faycal Bettioui, obviously pours his heart and soul into each and every dish that comes out of his kitchen."

  • "We had Christmas dinner at Fez, and felt like we were in a Moroccan relative's dining room. The restaurant is lovely and distinctive and the food is varied, tender and terrific. Some "standard" fare like chickpeas had a delicious and intense flavor that made them hardly standard. The meats, fish and octopus were fresh, tender, and well seasoned. The restaurant is small and intimate and the service personal and unhurried. Our meal was a delightful experience."

  • "The food was delicious and authentic, I would know because all of my high school classmates were morrocan. TBH though, when Iwe walked in, there was legiterally nobody in the restaurant. Don't waste an outfit on this spot, but definitely go to enjoy the eats."

  • "I visited Fez several times and I continue to be happy with this new place! Brought a Moroccan friend of mine who swore that Fez shows how special Morocco can be. Favorite appetizers are the beet salad, lobster couscous, octopus and scallops, but the entire menu is worth a try! Also tried the lamb tagine and the branzino - top quality. They use a sous vide cooker that makes all the difference in food preparation. And love the Panna cotta + chocolate mousse! Great flavors! The staff was very professional… they knew exactly when to bring more water, bread and re-fill our wine glasses without needing to be asked. All in all: the experience is worth writing about & wishing this place lots of new and repeat customers! They deserve it in my book!"

  • "This restaurant is one of the best new spots to hit SoBe in as long as I can even remember! Finally locals have a place to go that offers a distinictive experience and values its local clientele as well as tpurists. Food is amazing! Must try the beet salad, lamb belly, octopus, bastilla, & chicken tagine - not one of those dishes disappoint! The ambiance is really cool too. Music is loungy, and they have modern Moroccan decor. Most importantly, the service is impeccable. In a sea of restaurants with typical Miami snobby staff, Fez's team was friendly, and not overbearing or pushy, and the level of their professionalism is unmatched in SoBe. The manager checked in multiple times and even sent over mint tea to top things off! MUST GO!"

  • "The service here was pretty much non-existent - 1/2 hour between courses and no 'sorry' when questioned. Borderline surliness. We all felt as though we were disturbing them by eating there."

  • "Excellent, imaginative versions of Moroccan food. Decor is Art Deco/middle eastern. Only complaint is that kitchen is too slow."

  • "This is a welcome ethnic food addition to Miami Beach. Located on the quieter side of touristy Espanola Way, this is a good Moroccan place with both usual and unusual food offerings. We are both vegetarian so that limited the options a bit but all the veggie appetizers were delicious. The beat salad is inventive and creative, while the tomato salad is bursting with flavor. The best thing about the delicious spinach feta rolls is the dip, which we ate plain with the warm pita bread. The wine list is heavy on good quality French wines but we are secretly hoping for some Moroccan additions, which are delicious but impossible to find."

  • "This is our third time at Fez. A new 5 week old Moroccan inspired restaurant on Espanola Way. Eating in South Beach can be a challenge especially with all the tourist traps. We cant seem to stop going to Fez. Its tucked into the west end (quieter end away from Washington) of Espanola Way. I cant say enough about the food. Its exceptional and incredibly consistent. This chef is clearly dedicated to his craft. Both the lamb belly and scallop appetizers were perfect. I had the Seafood Tagine and the fish was perfect, delicate, moist..... Last time I had the Cornish Hen and was blown away."
