In 1940, Adele and Ellis Ferris determined to share their hospitality with more than their family and friends. they wanted to reach out to serve the Cleveland community that had welcomed them with open arms. Adele and Ellis wanted to create a legacy for their children, grandchildren, and generations that would follow that would bring them pride all their days.
Starting out in Cleveland on Detroit Rd. Ferris Steak House became a favorite dining place for people from all across the city and outlying suburbs.

  • "Foodwise, there was nothing remarkable nor unremarkable. The prime rib was good - as I would expect it. My wife said the mahi mahi was okay and its pilaf was better. We had calamari as an appetizer which was good as well but nothing extraordinary. The best part of the meal was a peppercorn sauce (at an extra $3) which was pretty amazing - something i would love to have for home. The greatest issue was the ambiance and pure feel of this steakhouse. It did not feel like a steakhouse (neither good nor a bad thing) but for $30 plates it should be presented more upscale casual than the restaurant is. It looks and feels more like a sports bar with large plasma TVs facing the dining area from the centralized bar. Not cozy at all."

  • "Spent Saturday evening on at ferris. Outdoor patio was spacious and clean, only con was it was next to main road so noise level was high. Ordered the scallops as appetizer..tasted amazing, could've had 2 servings. Went with pork chops as entree, very tender and big portions, probably could get away with a single serving. Wife had the Delmonico steak, large portion again and well seasoned. Nice bar selection and great service. Recommended for a nice night out any day of week."

  • "We weren't that impressed. It was a Saturday night and the place was empty, so apparently others weren't impressed either. The food was fine, just nothing that made us want to go back. We spent $150 on the two of us...usually when we do that we walk away raving about a great meal. This time we both said we'd probably never go back. The place has potential...maybe we just caught it on an off night."

The portions are very generous and the service is unquestionably good. This is to me is an upscale restaurant at a moderate price where your treated like family.   • "First of all I really like your new location. It is more convenient and more pleasant surrounding. Also good parking situation that set us in good moods. The barbeque ribs exceed my expectation and it was far better than Tic Toc on Clifton Blvd. The waitress was competent and friendly. Even the left-over I took home held good flavor the next day. We will be back soon. CONGRATULATIONS. PLEASE KEEP UP WITH GOOD WORK AND FOODS."

  • "We all ordered steaks; 3 Delmonico and 1 strip. 1 of the 3 Delmonico steaks was good. That's it! Ordered all Medium rare as recommended on the menu and only 1 steak was medium rare, again the only steak that was good. Way over priced for the meals we received! Server came by one time to check on our meals -- very soon after she brought them. At this point we really couldn't say the meal was good as we hadn't even started eating. So much for a Happy Birthday! While the restaurant comped us one steak dinner - It still wasn't enough to rectify the situation. Not even a Manager came over to apologize! He had been milling around all evening and checking up on other tables. So disappointed!"

  • "Arrived on time it was Memorial day weekend the dinning area was light with patrons, hostess stated oh let me see if were ready for you, we were seated a party of eight in a timely fashion, male waiter who stated he was an expert in angus seemed annoyed at the invitation of a few questions about the beef, despite my high expectations and talking the place up weeks before arrival, overall not incredibly impressed might return best I can do on this establishment "

  • "Fifteen minutes after being seated, we had to request the hostess to send over a waiter to get a drink and appetizer order. Later we watched as the server walked around the room for a few minutes, unable to figure out which table had the appetizer. He offered our app to 2 Incorrect tables before he got close enough to us that we could flag him down. We still had no drinks, so we had to request them again. When the waiter returned to order our entrees I had to ask what the specials were, because they were never offered to us. On our previous visit, they lost our order in the kitchen and our waiter was generally absent. We thought it was a fluke, so we waited 6 months and gave them another try. We won't be returning to this restaurant."

My service was terrible i felt like we were ignored we ordered our food around 8 (which was a long time) and then it took until 845 to get two steaks. we ordered a bottle of wine and were not even given the holder to keep it cool. our waiter would mumble comments when walking by it was by far the worst dining experience i have had in the area espiacally considering the high prices"

This restruant is clean, service was very good and entertainment provided by a very talented gentleman playing piano. I would definitely recommend this to others and will go back. The only negative to this experience was that they were a little pricey, but worth paying the price to get away from chain resturants. Good for special occasions."

  • "I dined with my fiance for his birthday, intent on having a great time. Our first time visit. The clam chowder soup was marvelous. Our salads were pretty mundane, nothing special, but nothing awful. My fiance ordered a filet, and I ordered the almond crusted grouper. His steak was large and cooked to order. It tasted good, though it lacked seasoning. My grouper had an impressive size, but the taste was anything but fresh. In fact, it tasted as if it were quite old -- and it did have a fishy smell, which should have been a red flag. The fish had absolutely NO flavor -- except for the smell I wouldn't have known it was fish. I sent it back and my meal was comped. Quite a disappointment that will likely keep us from returning."

  • "A wonderful quiet Friday evening out with my spouse. The restaurant for was unusually quiet from what I had read, this Friday evening was during Lent. The food was delicious, I had the French Onion Soup and the Caesar salad with Salmon while my wife had the Ahi Tuna Appetizer and the very large baked potato. The tuna was a little light on the platter but overall the experience was very enjoyable. We will be going back to try additional items on the menu!"

  • "Visited with wife and daughter 3/28 and overall everything tasted very good. We had the pork chops, sirloin steak and scampi dinners. The only complaint I have are entrees seem about $3-$4 high for what you get and I love baked potatoes but theirs have very soft, non-crispy skins; like they were wrapped in foil prior to serving."

  • "Have not been since they reopened at this location but sure glad we did. Our reservations was right on time. The Hostess was very friendly, as was our Waitress. She recommended an appetizer, which was excellent. Our meals arrived timely, orderly and were excellent. It was an enjoyable evening and we will definitely go back. Glad to have Ferris on the west side to now be one of our regular Saturday night stops."

  • "The steaks are thick, marbled, juicy and char broiled. They melt in your mouth and have a perfect taste with no extras, spices or rubs needed. The salads are excellent, with the famous roquefort, creamy and tangy, with crisp cold lettuce, juicy firm cherry tomatoes, and buttery and garlicy croutons. The sides are just right. Firm baked potatoes, crusty skins and steaming hot fluffy insides, which taste perfect with butter, salt, pepper and a little sour cream. I could go on, but this is making me hungry again!"

  • "My wife and I went here for a celebration dinner. The food was good quality and very well prepared. When we walked in, we were seated by the restaurant owner which was a very nice touch. Our server was very prompt and checked in often, but not too often. Our only small complaint was we felt there were not many mid-range priced bottles of wine. However, the bottle we did get was recommended by our waiter and was very good. We would definitely make a return trip in the future."

  • "The restaurant is loud with more of a bar atmosphere like an Outback Steakhouse but the prices are more like a fine dining restaurant. Our waitress was slow to bring drinks, forgot the kids sodas, didn't bring bread and we had to ask 3 times, finally my medium/medium rare filet was well done. They brought a new one and that one was bubble gum so had t send it back again. Manager took care of it but overall was not the best experience..sub par at best."

  • "Ferris Steakhouse is our go-to for restaurant for fine dining. December 14, 2013, we held our daughter & son-in-laws' wedding reception at Ferris Steakhouse. Bruce Ferris assisted with every detail to make it an unforgettable evening. Every detail was perfection. The appetizers were outstanding. The filet mignon and chicken (both served with Bernaise) were delicious and cooked to perfection. Salads were crisp and the salad dressing was wonderful. Most of our 50 guests preferred steak and it's not easy to prepare 40 at the same time when your restaurant is full, but, under Mr.Ferris' direction everyone was served quickly. Our compliments to the Chef and Pianist. All in all a memory to be treasured. Their steaks are the best."
