The service and ambiance with the sound of the ocean and the live violinist was as good a it gets. The wine selection and food were outstanding as well. This is a must if you're in Maui!! Something we thought unique was that the menus light up when opened, making reading in the dark so nice! I had the potato gnocchi and it was superb. My hubby had the rib e rib and it was fabulous. We shared the chocolate caramel tart and if it had been an acceptable thing to do, would have licked the plate clean. It was divine!!! Don't hesitate to go here. It helped that we lucked into a corner ocean front table under a tiki lamp on a beautiful balmy night. In short we had the Caprese Salad, Beef Carpaccio, Fruiti di Mare and Mahi Mahi and all were exceptional. We found a reasonably priced Italian white wine that worked well and the sole desert was exquisite. The ambience was second to none and the view with the sunset was remarkable. The food was delicious, well presented, and a perfect quantity. The service was attentive but neither overbearing or neglectful. My wife is gluten free, and the waiter brought her gluten free bed and a delicious gluten free pasta when we were eating our regular fare. The drinks were superb with my pineapple mojito, one of the best mixed drinks I have ever tasted.It is rare that I take the time to review a restaurant despite the frequency that we eat out, but this evening at this restaurant was definately worth describing. Consistently excellent food and service. I always ask for either Cathy or Trent as my server, although all are top-notch and professional. The live music during dinner is unrivaled on the island. It's too bad I have to travel 10 hours to get to this restaurant, it's exceptional. I have eaten there dozens of times over the past twenty or so years and have never been disappointed. The ambience is spectacular! (Check the weather, though. If it's a cool night, wear something warm, although the restaurant will provide you with a wrap.) My favorite servers are Cathy and trent, long-time friendly and knowledgeable employees. Try the house-made pastas and risottos. There is live violin music as well, very very entertaining! My wife had carbonara which is her favorite and she loved it. I had the rib e rib - also terrific. It was all topped off by the best coffee we have had in Maui (French Press table side was nice) and an outstanding chocolate caramel tart. We will go back before we leave.12/3/2012 12:00:00 AM
