A word from Felidia
Felidia is located in a converted Brownstone on 58th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues. Opened in 1981 by Lidia Bastianich, Felidia offers a warm atmosphere where you can still find Lidia greeting guests and fans.

Executive Chef Fortunato Nicotra has been with Felidia since 1996 and has brought an innovative touch to traditional ingredients and dishes from all the regions of Italy.

Some of the restaurant's signature dishes include pear and fresh pecorino ravioli, veal shank ossobucco and limoncello tiramisu.
Felidia also offers a delicious three course price-fixed lunch, Monday - Friday for $29.50 per person, making the restaurant great for business lunches or just a nice afternoon treat.

For parties of 8 or more, Felidia offers our group dining menu rather than the a la carte menu. The group dining menu is a five course menu and includes our most popular dishes and seasonal favorites for $95 per person.

Thought this restaurant would have a Sicilian theme and wonderfully prepared Sicilian food. Enjoy the cooking shows so much. We were looking forward to speaking Italian with the waiters. Nothing looked Italian, the wait staff were not Italian, nor were any of the staff. We had high expectations for the food, which turned out to be nothing special. The chicken livers were very good, salad with ricotta good. The tripe main was nothing special and we've had much better. The polenta was very dry. The quail was bland and the quail pieces which were stuffed were very dry and the wrapping of pancetta was hard and dried out which was hard to cut through. Overall, the food, ambience, staff, we could not have been more disappointed.

We started at the bar where our bartender was very pleasant. We should have stayed there! The problem was not the food even though the food itself was very average but the service killed any chance of an enjoyable evening. The staff is simply undersized. Our waitress seemed very rushed and was clearly under instruction to "push" the evening special. She commented that the veal chop on special was her "favorite dish of all time". It was average at best and considerably overdone. The lobster risotto was overpriced at $60 and had very little lobster. Our wine glasses were empty twice during dinner. The tiramisu was perfect though. Lovely flavors. I had to ask for the check after my wife had left the table. I would not return.

Felidia is perfect for the person who desires an elegant dining experience, absent that unnecessary opulence that accompanies some of NYC's most popular spots. The staff is top-of-class in all respects and the food puts it among the top few authentic Italian restaurants in NY. It is wonderful that there are still spots like Felidia that seem to effortlessly deliver an excellent experience.

Felidia has become over the top and much farther from its roots. Don't go expecting the warm authentic - based Italian cuisine that Lydia has built her reputation upon. Instead find dishes that try too hard and cost too much. Service mostly pushy and snooty. Prices also astronomical. The rent must be very high.

My wife and I love Felidia, so we reserved for my 60th birthday dinner. Unfortunately we picked the wrong night. We arrived and were greeted cheerfully. Our waitress, quite cheerful made various suggestions and we ordered dinner. I don't know if there was simply not enough staff, but we waited and waited and. Appetizers finally arrived, and once consumed, plates removed. No one cleaned the table until I waived for the busboy, then I had to request bread. When we finally were served, the fish was cold and we were disappointed. Our waitressed finally arrived after we finished our dessert. I told her how displeased we were and she offered to comp our dessert. I can truly say this would not have happened had Lidia been there!

I knew Felidia had a great reputation and we were not disappointed. The staff was friendly, attentive and courteous. The ravioli caccio e pere was a delight and the tutto crudo was so fresh from the sea. The Branzino was done to perfection and select wines paired well. The dolce palacinko was a peach surprise. My husband and I choose Felidia's as our one dining experience during our short stay in New York. The Chef's Choice (small groupings selected by the Chef) was a good way to try several dishes; 2 appetizers and 2 entrees, along with dessert. We have followed Lidia for many years and the food did not disappoint. We were disappointed with the venue and would have liked a better table. It was our 40th anniversary and we were back in the corner, upstairs next to the server's preparation table; not quite the romantic setting we were hoping for. It was annoying to have servers constantly going back and forth around our table. Overall, we were happy we chose Felidia's; not sure we will go back.

The experience at Felidia was absolutely Devine. I was there entertaining foreign business associates and they both said this was the highlight of their trip. We all selected the chefs tasting menu and each course was expertly prepared visually exciting, and exhilarating to the palate. We did not w ant to leave any morsel behind. Alex who took care of us was delightful and knowledgeable. The only thing missing was meeting the master Lydia herself, we were told she was on vacation abroad this week. Felidia will be my restaurant of choice to entertain guests.

There are many supplements to the price fixe menu. A lunch for two at 29.99 each came out to 160 dollars. No variety to pasta dishes you would expect at an Italian restaurant. Not recommended for anyone looking for an Italian lunch (didn't have dinner there). As a person who deals with many wealthy clientele I will not recommend this restaurant.

We hadn't eaten here for some years, but decided to to celebrate an anniversary. Felidia's not what it used to be: Of our tasting menu, only one dish (the "cacio e pere") was really good; the rest were either barely acceptable or simply poor. And there was an unpleasant interchange regarding a martini that was at first over-watery (from melted ice), then barely cool. (And no sign of Lidia, whom I'd been planning to thank for her great cooking shows.)

We had dinner at Felidia's with another couple for a birthday celebration Every course was superb. We had the ravioli appetizer and the ahi tuna appetizer. Of course we finished off dinner with limoncello. The evening was enjoyed by all four of us.

We were really looking forward to eating at Lydia's restaurant. It was a total disappointment. The salad my wife had was way to big. You could have this salad in any dive restaurant anywhere USA. My pasta with clams was just ok. The clams were good put the pasta was overcooked and I didn't like it. We both had the whole deboned chicken and we both didn't like. We both had a few bites of the breast and the rest was not up to our expectation for a restaurant of this stature. We will not return to this restaurant. We love her cook books and everything else she does.

We had a lovely experience dining at Felidia. Each part of our meal was delicious, and they pay special attention to providing gluten free options for diners with allergies. The fact that they were able to make gluten free pear and pecorino ravioli was such a treat, and it is such a relief to dine at a place that understands and caters to the allergy. I tasted both the regular and the gluten free ravioli and they were indistinguishable. The restaurant is undoubtedly expensive, so it is a special occasion place for sure, but we left very full and pleased.

Fantastic food, great presentation, and their wine list must be one of the best in NYC. However, there is no music in the entire place- its so quiet that the loudest thing you hear is the clang of silverware & the shuffling of waiters feet. You can barely talk to the people you are with for fear of making any noise.. its like eating in a library. We were rushed by our waiters continually (except for the bread guy, he was fantastic & very funny). Their cocktails were very well done. Would recommend for people with lots of money with a great love of wine & who do not like to talk at dinner. Not recommended for special occasions or large groups (unless you get their private room).
