A word from Felidia
Felidia is located in a converted Brownstone on 58th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues. Opened in 1981 by Lidia Bastianich, Felidia offers a warm atmosphere where you can still find Lidia greeting guests and fans.

Executive Chef Fortunato Nicotra has been with Felidia since 1996 and has brought an innovative touch to traditional ingredients and dishes from all the regions of Italy.

Some of the restaurant's signature dishes include pear and fresh pecorino ravioli, veal shank ossobucco and limoncello tiramisu.
Felidia also offers a delicious three course price-fixed lunch, Monday - Friday for $29.50 per person, making the restaurant great for business lunches or just a nice afternoon treat.

For parties of 8 or more, Felidia offers our group dining menu rather than the a la carte menu. The group dining menu is a five course menu and includes our most popular dishes and seasonal favorites for $95 per person.

While I would recommend Felidia's to any foodie, and especially those enjoying creative Italian food, be prepared to spend a fair sum. Not a New York native, perhaps my perspective is not local on this issue, so you can judge for yourself. The food will not disappoint, however!

We had to wait some 40 minutes for our reserved table while standing in a narrow entry. The pasta with truffles was wonderful, but the fish was ordinary--and the prices are exceedingly high.

Perhaps we went there with expectations that were too high. Very good food....medium portions....slightly high prices. We have been to many fine Italian restaurants....and this was among the top....but certainly not the best.

The food was very good, but it just wasn't a memorable dinner. Dinner for 4 with wine is pretty pricey and given the price, it didn't have that "wow!" factor. I've had more remarkable Italian dinners in the North End of Boston. I'll stick to Lidia's cookbook and save the restaurant for others.

Food was mediocre and the staff was not great -- seemed like most were new and being trained as the servers were being scolded by the head waiters during service. Not what I remembered from my mast visit. Not what I expected for $100 per person.

I scheduled a business dinner here for colleagues of mine based on some positive reviews I read. Without having dined there myself, the accolades I received for making the reservation, not only won me praise, but it also motivated me to make reservations for my husband and me a few nights later. Bartender Josh started the evening off with one of the best drinks I have ever had. The food we ordered was delicious and the service we received made us feel like we were celebrated regulars. We enjoyed our evening there so much that we made reservations to dine there again the following night. Only in town for a week and ate at the same place twice in a row...considering all of the options in NYC and that we are total foodies, that's saying a lot.

Went to Felidia with my parents, who were visiting and always complain about the noisy NYC restaurant scene. The ambiance and service at Felidia hit the mark. The top-off was Lidia Bastianich circulating and greeting tables. So nice to see a chef actually at their restaurant these days. We selected items off the specials, and the ravioli with duck and foie gras was off the charts. We were very disappointed by the salmon tartar with sturgeon caviar and pasta with clams -- both were fishy. Stick to the meats for an amazing dining experience; not the place for seafood.

I have eaten at this restaurant before with a male colleague and service was excellent. This last time, i met a female friend for dinner and we were put in a corner and no one took our orders for a very long time. Eventually, I had to reach out a grab a waiter who was serving a single man who came in after us at the next table. Service was really poor. Next time I guess I will have to go with buy husband.

I had a very generous salad and the spinach pappardelle with duck ragout which were both terrific. My husband had a chicken liver pate appetizer which was very good and also a generous portion. He ordered the calve's liver entree which he said was not as good as the last time. Wines by the glass were good altho a little bit pricey. We were served a complimentary dessert of tiny cookies which were great.

Thought this restaurant would have a Sicilian theme and wonderfully prepared Sicilian food. Enjoy the cooking shows so much. We were looking forward to speaking Italian with the waiters. Nothing looked Italian, the wait staff were not Italian, nor were any of the staff. We had high expectations for the food, which turned out to be nothing special. The chicken livers were very good, salad with ricotta good. The tripe main was nothing special and we've had much better. The polenta was very dry. The quail was bland and the quail pieces which were stuffed were very dry and the wrapping of pancetta was hard and dried out which was hard to cut through. Overall, the food, ambience, staff, we could not have been more disappointed.

We started at the bar where our bartender was very pleasant. We should have stayed there! The problem was not the food even though the food itself was very average but the service killed any chance of an enjoyable evening. The staff is simply undersized. Our waitress seemed very rushed and was clearly under instruction to "push" the evening special. She commented that the veal chop on special was her "favorite dish of all time". It was average at best and considerably overdone. The lobster risotto was overpriced at $60 and had very little lobster. Our wine glasses were empty twice during dinner. The tiramisu was perfect though. Lovely flavors. I had to ask for the check after my wife had left the table. I would not return.

Felidia is perfect for the person who desires an elegant dining experience, absent that unnecessary opulence that accompanies some of NYC's most popular spots. The staff is top-of-class in all respects and the food puts it among the top few authentic Italian restaurants in NY. It is wonderful that there are still spots like Felidia that seem to effortlessly deliver an excellent experience.

Make sure to scrutinize your bill very carefully. Our waitress added a $25.00 per guest truffle surcharge for truffles that she sliced on our ravioli appetizer. We were not asked if we wanted them and thought they were part of the dish. Repeated calls to the manager (Ganji) were ignored. The food was good but this was really bad form. I won't be back.

Felidia has become over the top and much farther from its roots. Don't go expecting the warm authentic - based Italian cuisine that Lydia has built her reputation upon. Instead find dishes that try too hard and cost too much. Service mostly pushy and snooty. Prices also astronomical. The rent must be very high.
