Fearrington GranaryThe new menu is really superb...The new menu is really superb... some new things as well as some classics. Chef Colin has done it again.... great food at an affordable price. Oh, and Lisa, our server.... spot on and anticipating our needs.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMClassy EstablishmentClassy is the best way to describe the Granary. If Top Chef prepared you a Cheeseburger, fries, and fried chicken, it would look like this. We loved all of our food, and the desserts were amazing too!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMEating in the outdoors gardenEating in the outdoors garden during good weather is a very special event.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistentAlthough one member of our party was served an undercooked burger intended for another table, the Granary met our expectations in every way.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Lunch Ever!!My colleague and I shared a goat cheese and beet salad along with a quinoa mushroom entrée and we both agreed that we had never tasted anything so good!5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMEvening meal at the GranaryLove the informal, relaxed atmosphere and tasteful decor. Has the sensibility of farm to fork dining. Noise level was a bit of a problem . . . would have preferred outside seating but there was no service available. Vegetables and fish were cooked to perfection and greens were fresh. The wine list has excellent choices, reasonable price by the glass and ample serving size.
It's always a pleasure to bring guests here for a full experience of outdoor beauty for a reliably good meal at a moderate price.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service and good foodWe love coming to the Granary for lunch on the weekends. On this day, the restaurant was busy and noisy. The food was good but the asparagus soup was on the cold side for two members of our party. The service was great as always and we will be back.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food, charming placeThis was a nice place to have a romantic dinner away from the busyness of the cities. The food was wonderful, the setting is great. It was a little noisy.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMSisters visit to Fearringtonhad a lovely time at the restaurant this weekend. The ground and shops we're at the light. Hope to return soon.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMunexpected happinessMy husband suggested we eat here on a whim, and I am glad we did! The ride to Fearrington Village was peaceful and scenic and as we pull in the first thing we see are the famous beltie cows. The property is beautiful and we both agreed that next time we visit, we will arrive much earlier so that we have time to walk around and take in the sights. The Granary has a wonderful casual and inviting feel. The servers were attentive, friendly, and well-versed in the menu offerings. The food is AMAZING. I ordered the crab risotto and it was undoubtedly the best risotto that I have ever eaten. The flavors developed were complex and interesting. My husband the pork chops, which were moist and rich in flavor. We will definitely return soon!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMMostly good...butWe dined with Denver friends, knowledgeable about food/ wine who wanted a low-key spot. The menu is full of tempting items but when our server said the special was "lightly fried soft shell crab"...both us ladies were sold. We sampled an interesting cocktail with gin, cucumber, lime, & St Germaine...good but I don't think I'd want more than one. Our salads were impeccable; caesers & green w/lemon vinaigrette; one goat cheese souffle & beets for the table. Our guys were very happy with their shrimp & grits and were kind enough to give us a taste. UNFORTUNATELY, when our soft shells arrived we were dejected. Rather than lightly fried, they were in such a heavy tempura-style batter that it was difficult to find or even taste the crab.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent, as always! The Granary is a unique dining experience. Beet salad and twice baked souffle highly recommended.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMReliably good food.Great outdoor terrace. Serviceis usually spot on but we have one server for the entire patio so we isn't see her much. Could have been better on that aspect but food was great. Ham & Swiss delicious5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always, a PERFECT dinner!THE best casual restaurant in the entire Triangle! Under Chef Collin, the food is beyond perfection. The fried chicken is quite simply the best I've ever had. It's truly a wonderful and easy dining experience. Thank you!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat funLoved the food here. It was fun to experience new foods not in the everyday monotony. Hard floors and no tableclothes meant the noise was not dampened downstairs, which would be my only complaint. I did take a look upstairs where carpets helped with the noise level. Service was perfect! And the setting was fantastic.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMMenu ChangeThe food was as good as usual but I miss all the possible combinations that were possible when you were able to select an entree and sides and a sauce. Now someone else has decided what is the best combination for the diner. The waiter checked to see if a sauce previously on the menu was available but it was not. I think the restaurant lost something that set it apart.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Granary is always greatThe Granary is always great but make reservations. They fill up quickly on the weekends.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place to eatExcellent food and service - the reason we go there often.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFearrington Granary is in my Top 5We went for my wife's birthday and the service and food was fantastic. Our server Jennifer was incredible, she knew the menu as if she was preparing the meal for us and made suggestions on what would be good to try. The menu had offerings had made it difficult what to choose - so much homecooked comfort food type meals. The shrimp and grits ranks up there with Crook's Corner's offering of the same meal. The crab and risotto dish had apple highlights that gave it a uniquely wonderful gastro experience. Both meals were generous portions, reasonably priced and we left full and satisfied. We will be returning for lunch very soon some weekend to enjoy outside dining next. My commpliments to the chef and staff here!!!!! Delicious!!!4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Granary was a great brunchThe Granary was a great brunch experience. Both dishes were very delicious. The ambiance was outstanding. We love it!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMService slow bringing foodService slow bringing food and clearing plates when we were finished...disappointing. Food was good and our waitress was good...she did what she could.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely dining experience! The food and service was extraordinary! Everything from the Risotto to the Hanger Steak, to the Encrusted Pork was so flavorful and beutifully presented. Our server had a delightful sense of humor and was very attentive. LOVE The Granery!!4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for brunch and lunch.Wonderful brunch. traditional fare plus some southern specialties like shrimp and grits. Lightest biscuits, freshest eggs and best sausages anywhere. Always great for brunch. For our northern friends and relatives it is a "must" whenever they come visit.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentBest poached eggs ever, salad is served at the right temperature and not over dressed so the flavors come through. Care in the details makes all the difference.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMRelaxing evening outI always enjoy dining here. I am definitely not a 'battered and fried' kind of person. They focus on vegetables and source them locally when possible. Creative menu.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe ate at the Granary on ourWe ate at the Granary on our way to the Playmakers. Both the food and service were very good. The restaurant has a very nice ambiance. The wait staff was attentive and most helpful. Food presentation was well done. Everything was cooked perfectly, and was reasonably priced. Parking was a little challenging on a Friday night. Overall, a great experience.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMService was very slow b/cService was very slow b/c Cameron was all by himself, poor young man..Our resveration was for 12:30 & we didn't get our check until 3:05..We did enjoy ourselves once again but w/the bad rains we wanted to get on the road. Will def be back!4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptional - every time!Delightful evening - food, wine, and service were exceptional.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWe live in Fearrington VillageWe live in Fearrington Village where the Granary has its home. We like to support our community and this is very nice restaurant. We dined leisurely and talked uninterrupted by wait staff from 7-10 pm on a Wed. evening. We never felt rushed.
The food was very good and moderate to high in price, but a good value and artfully prepared and served. Would recommend it others and we plan to visit again in the future. It would be nice if they were to offer Fearrington Village residents some minor perks to dine there. For example, maybe a free dessert for any one dessert ordered?? This is a value/cost-conscious community of retirees and we like our perks and deserve them! :)3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAn a--time favorite! The restaurant seems to get better and better--a real treasure for north Chatham County.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMSaturday lunch was very niceSaturday lunch was very nice and delicious. My friends couldn't say enough about the restaurant I had chosen for our lunchen. The food and service were outstanding. Dined upstairs and we were the only ones for some time. I highly recommend the FEARRINGTON GRANARY. Thank you3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a gem we found. I wasWhat a gem we found. I was there for a business dinner. Looking forward to coming back soon and this place will always be on the list when I have guests.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMI hadn't been to the locationI hadn't been to the location since it had changed from a more casual spot called the Market. My husband and I had a very pleasant surprise. Everything was terrific! We just wish it was closer to our home now. It's perfect for the neighborhood out in the countryside that it belongs to, but is a bit of a distance for those who live in the town of Chapel Hill. I think it would be a great destination for brunch!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe continue to come back toWe continue to come back to the Granary even though it is out of our way because the food is amazing, the staff cannot be beat, and it's a perfect place to come for brunch on the weekends.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMTables nicely space to avoidTables nicely space to avoid a crowded feel. Great service. Our table enjoyed a delicious lunch; very good food and nice portion sizes.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe eat at the Granary oftenWe eat at the Granary often because of the great food and excellent service. On this trip there was a tour bus group just entering the restaurant for dinner. They were very noisy coming in and throughout dinner (obviously had been driving some distance and needed a break) The kitchen was overwhelmed and we had to wait a considerable time for our meals to come out, but when they did, they were delicious.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMUnique!Fearrington Granary stands alone in that it is unique. Great setting for delicious food, exemplary service, and a warm welcome, every time. Truly a home away from home.2/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentThis is a perfect place for lunch, brunch, or dinner; food and service both great and the scenery is a perfect foil. We tried the fishcake and the lobster risotto and both were delicious. Crisp veggies and creamy risotto - perfect, and hot and fresh from the kitchen too. Service and hospitality are great.
